As an unlearned American, may I ask what a "Mardy Bum" is? Over here "Bum" usually means "butt" But I have no idea what "Mardy" means. And while I could very easily write a song for Sean Beans' lovely bottom I have a feeling the song is not at all about the rear end....The song has a great sound though. I like it.

"Mardy" can mean grumpy, moody, miserable etc. A bum can just be a word to describe a friend you know well, and can call names in an affectionate way. Like 'miserable bugger' etc.

For those who are not familiar with some of Sean Bean's Brit TV work, the various pics featured in this video belong to the Sharpe series. I've noticed, most especially among North American fans, is that they're not really familiar with Sean Bean's earlier work, nor the fact that he became a TV icon playing the character of Richard Sharpe.
