Thanks - Alafia for you your advice I will give it a shot - I'm quite heavy handed too but it is worth a try I was told by the retail outlet in London who in turn rang the makers in Holland Pearl they wernt aware of players tilting congas forewards which seemed a bit odd? many thanks again regards Jed
Could anyone tell me how to angle the travel conga as the bracket hasnt a tilt mechanism on it - in the video it looks to have a natural player foreward tilt
As for the angle of that particular post, I had it welded to that angle. If you want, you can look for Pearl Hardware and go with Pearl TH88S Tom Holder with Gear Tilter Short Post, it costs around $25. I originally had this on my stand, but wound up breaking on a gig while soloing.......oooops!
Alafia Hatsungara! Pearl Drums has realized the popularity of the Travel Congas and have raised the cost of them. The best I can suggest is to just do a search for "pearl travel congas" and compare prices. Each site should carry all 3 sizes. Some prices might include the stand.
I am looking to buy some. I was going to get the PTC 1100, 1175 and 1250. You have 2 x 1175 and 2 x 1250. So it is true you can tune them to sound like a quinto, conga, tumba and super tumba even if the sizes are the same?
Yes, you can tune each drum to a pitch (key) you would like, of course tuning is subjective to the player. They come with a hex wrench which is used to tune them with. You'll have fun with them once you have them tuned to your preference I'm sure.
I actually have two 12.5" PTCs, and two 11.75" PTCs in this set up. I've obviously tuned them differently, that's to preference, though I tried to get them to sound as close to full-sized congas as possible!

Wonderful, but I would have liked to hear the different types of sounds that each of them make. You only used one sound/attack for each.
