If Harrison had a real job and actually lived in the real world I can't imagine how much he would moan then. He had fame, money, women, a massive house.. and still he whinges. I know he's on about material wealth being insufficient, but he could have given it to me if it bothered him that much. Sorry if it bothers you but he was a hypocrite.
"Ringo" fans.... In honor of Ringo's 70th, I hope U will check out my "RINGO"video. It's very retro with Beatleish touches & was done as a labor of love and with the utmost respect for the Fabs. My attempt at putting a little bit of the Beatle spirit out there for Beatle fans. It's also my tribute to George Harrison's slide playing as well as Ringo's unique style.
Joe Brown performs this song on the "Concert for George" , recorded on the one day anniversary of George's passing. Great tribute by quite a few artists, including Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Billy Preston, and of course Paul and Ringo.
I always liked GONE TROPPO, it reminds me sun,sea and summer.Good vibes and wonderful guitars on it.This version is warm and nice, one of my favourite songs on the album.I have the 12 inch single When we was fab with this version on B side.
Im listening to this on headphones and what's so cool is that the drums are brought out more and gives the song some kick. Especially the drum roll intro. It's hip. I thought I was listening to something off of Somewhere in England b4 reading the title again.
It is pretty good i don't know if this was made especially for the When We Was Fab maxi single or if it was one of the things he done in his "retirement"
I slightly agree, but i kinda like the synth sound, and i actually prefer it [sometimes] to the overdose on saxophones on some other records in the late 1970s and 1980s
This song & "Dream Away" are two of my favorite Harrison songs ever. I love "Life Itself" as well, & they come from two albums that I think are his weakest, "Gone Troopo" & "Somewhere in England"...good moments on them, but his least successful works.
I never really listened to "Troppo" until i brought it on vinyl the other week, [the only shop in all of Ipswich i really go in is a second hand record shop called "out of time records"] it was only £3.00, "Wake up my love" is quite good,v"Mystical one" deserves more attention, "Greece" is o.k too and "Circles" is good but it could have been better, i like "Dream Away" too but i prefer the one on "Time Bandits" with the long intro.
As for "Somewhere..." i think that "Life It's Self" is beautiful, "Teardrops" is good and i like "Writing's on the wall", "All those years ago" is good but perhaps remembered for the wrong reason [the first outing of the "Threetles"]and as with "Circles" "Save the world" could have been better.
I just saw this comment. I imaine that this album could use a good going over and re-attatch itself to George's "SOMEWHERE in..." and make it a double album like ATMP. Just a thought. I think ive smoked to much.
great tune. wish gone troppo album cover was is used here instead

This is a great song. Such a simple melody but pure genius.

Critics at the time were saying that George was too synth'd. I dont know about that, Gone Trippin' is a guitar album for the most part.

He must have liked this one himself to go and rework it, i think the drums work surprisingly well.

I have just noticed that due to poor editing from my self that at the end there is a small section of "When We Was Fab"
