And it is even well documented by the resolutions made in the various confederate state legislatures that mention clearly that slavery was the main reason they sought to leave the union. yes, there was the northern suppresion of the southern economic system(most notably in the attacks on slavery which the south was dependant on), and the northern attacks on state's rights(most notably the right to own slaves).

Jackson held a sunday school for blacks. 94% of white southerners did NOT own slaves according to the 1860 UC census. Slavery was LEGAl in DC, West virginia was admitted into the Union during the war as a SLAVE state.

I really think some of you need to review the definitions of some of the words you use. Treason : This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance. A non-citizen, or one who has no such allegiance obligation, or has "thrown off" their right to the benefits of such citizenship, CANNOT be charged with treason. Citizens of the Confederate States of America LEGALLY seceded from the union as was there right under the constitution. They were NOT traitors.

And it is even well documented by the resolutions made in the various confederate state legislatures that mention clearly that slavery was the main reason they sought to leave the union. You can't change history. Even the speeches made by Jefferson davis and all the confederate governments state clearly theat they wouldn't have the north 'dictating' to them the abolition of slavery.

yes, there was the northern suppresion of the southern economic system(most notably in the attacks on slavery which the south was dependant on), and the northern attacks on state's rights(most notably the right to own slaves).
Fact is that the south seceeded in direct response to anti slave legislation and power shift, as stated by the confederate leaders. any other issues were secondary.

He's not saying that the Union wasn't racist, but it is undeniable true that slavery was a central issue in the Civil War. @badjer1785, Did u know that General LEE and JACKSON both were anti slavery? Lee freed his slaves, that were INHERITED by him before the war. They wanted to recruit slaves as did Davis. Jackson held a sunday school for blacks. 94% of white southerners did NOT own slaves according to the 1860 UC census. Slavery was LEGAl in DC, West virginia was admitted into the Union during the war as a SLAVE state.

I really think some of you need to review the definitions of some of the words you use. Treason : This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance. A non-citizen, or one who has no such allegiance obligation, or has "thrown off" their right to the benefits of such citizenship, CANNOT be charged with treason. Citizens of the Confederate States of America LEGALLY seceded from the union as was there right under the constitution. They were NOT traitors.

In fact the entire underlying philosophy behind celebrating "diversity" is tolerance of other people and their beliefs. slavery was not the main reason of the civil war and i am sick of people being ignorant enough to say it was. the civil war was fought over other issues such as politics and economics just as much as it was fought over slavery.

Blacks do not commit most crimes in America, whites do. media plays up Blacks. FYI after south got whipped to teach lesson for treasoness acts, north refused to help them for a long while. women sold their bodies/children and men robbed and killed oneanother. it was total chaos.Blacks who were used as slaves kept whites from starving to death. Blacks have never been lazy we've had tremendous road blocks and hurdles. WHITE PRIVEDGE gets white ahead.

@ihearya1000 If you look at the unemployment charts, and the charts that say who all is on wel-fare, the majority of both of those are Blacks. Who has had their houses forclosed upon most? Blacks. Who said, when Obama was running, That "Obama was going to pay my mortage" ? Blacks. And also what your tlking about Whites killing eachother, and robbing people, that was over a 100 years ago, you can look at wikipedia and see that the majority of violent crimes are commited by Blacks/ Latins.
