The music was not written by Pelageya. This is a folk song. The story is almost 350 years old - this is a legend about a dream of a Volga kossak Stepan Razin he'd seen in his sleep before he was captured and executed. Pelageya's performance of this song is one of the best I've ever heard!
I can't find it anywhere. I can only find the album "girl songs" by Pelageya, but never this song. Was this released on a movie soundtrack, maybe? Do you know the album name?
Oh, it wasn’t the evening, wasn’t the evening… Oh, I slept so little, I slept so little Oh, a dream appeared. I slept so little, oh, a dream appeared. In the dream… It was as if my raven-black steed Ceased playing, ceased prancing, Oy, he wailed over me Ceased playing, ceased prancing, Oy, he wailed over me Oh, the cruel winds flew down, From the east . They snatched the dark cap From off my mighty head. They snatched the dark cap From off my mighty head.

This is very old Russian Folk song, There is even one English variant. I will put the link here when I find it. The song is really beautifull, it is about Russian soul, endless russian stepppes ( fields ) about the life. He sleeps and sees the night dream....
@AmsterdamArtGallery but western people do not understand real sense from this is very old Folk song, despite translation. Worry of soul and thoughts of Russian soldier about death probably on the eve of battle, but sense of responsibility is stronger. So people forget as Dostoevsky was the military engineer also as Tolstoy was officer and artilleryman, they were able to explain philosophy of Russian soldier about priority of responsibility of man as an intellectual and spiritual creature!
