  • All i use is a cleanser. Thanks got the info.

  • Great vid!:-)

  • Hi, I'm a guy.. I definitely have 'oily' skin.. I often get pimple breakout, or perhaps, acne breakout.. they are red and swelling up.. and it takes a few days for the white head to pop out.. it doesn't come in one, it really just explodes with a number of it! Getting to the point, should I use toner? And how do I know what's good for me? Like with alcohol/not is better? Or what brands of toner can you recommend me.. I just want a simple routine..

  • Thank you for the video! And just wanted to let you know your skin is so beautiful and glowing!!

  • thanks for posting and all your information! helped a lot! ;)

  • I make my own basil toner and it works great.

  • lol...i use toner to clear my laptop..hehehe....its work

  • i've tried Nivea and avon porefecting toner but i regret buying them coz i ended with more pimples. i don't really know what kind of toner to use. any recommendation? i have combination skin and i'm using retin a so i don't think toners with hydroxy acids is good for me.

  • @Nyxmoon17 I use a homemade toner. I make it by using one cup of really strong tea (3 green tea bags 2 mint) and the juice of 2 lemons. It clears up breakouts well, and prevents them too.

  • Thanks your video was really helpful

  • Thank you for the Info

  • Great job! Although toner is necessary. It is the only way to effectively achieve maximum results. otherwise you will be playing the skin balance game with your skin for some time. :)

  • Sally beauty has a great toner:) i use it ALL the time.

It works great to set make up also.

Its called " i-skin hydrating toner"

Best toner i have ever used

  • Alcohol actually makes oily skin worse in the long run. A really common reason oily skin is oily is because it's dry on the inside because the person probably never moisturises and purposely strips away oil, therefore the skin reacts by overproducing oil to make up for it.

  • great video! thanks!

  • You look cute

  • sry if this might sound stupid and weird but you said after the cleaning then toning put on moisturizer as a must. is benzoyl peroxide cream consider a moisturizer ?? i mean , im a guy and i dont want to put a million things on my face every day. and also whats a foundation. zomg im going crazy. and do i put toner and other crap every where on my face or just the problem areas ??

  • @JPiiiX u dont need foundation for ur skincare, foundation is in the makeup category. Toner can be remove residues that's left on ur face after u cleansing, toner can also help ur next skincare product to obsorb better. Toner is a liquid form product, u pour our a few drops onto a cotton pad then rub it all over ur face except eye areas. Benzoyl peroxide cream is not consider as a moisturizer, is use for acne!

So all u need to do is cleansing, toning and moisturize. hope this help:)

  • You are pretty!

  • i wish they still sold that toner =(

  • Okay. This was an amazing vid. But I must say, When an orienal woman says, "Y'all" I'm in love.

  • what age should you start puting on a toner ?

  • THIS HELPED SO MUCH! THANKS ;D

  • Lol, u were so shyer during your old videos.

  • So should I use this toner, or the Dickinson's Witch Hazel Toner? I've heard good things about the witch hazel one too. I'm debating which one to get out of these two after I saw this video. So.....which 1? SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME SOON!!!!!!! PLEAZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Shoppingstar525 depends on your skin type. dickison's witch toner is more natural while the one that she shows has chemical ingredients. Depending of your preference (such you are more into the natural stuff and want to avoid anything chemical OR you are ok with chemical), then you can choose accordingly.

  • @keikochoco oh, ok....thanx!! :D

  • She's soooooo pretty :D I especially LoVe her hair! Can't get over how pretty it looks all the time(; haha. And that Nivea toner does sound amazing for the skin! :) :) I have combination oily skin, that's acne prone, discolored, and I have unbelievably huge pores all over my face =( yup, my skin's the worst anyone can imagine!

  • you looked like you were reading off a script or something

  • @happy3nding she was

  • this video was very helpful! i was planning on doing a video on skincare and needed to learn a bit about toners and all i had to do was watch this video! you are so pretty and have great tips!

  • You are also very pretty and cute without any makeup!!!!!! :)

  • i dont kno which i should really use but i have a toner and it works great on my skin all the dirt comes off ill wash my face with good facial wash and then i use the toner and u should see all the dirt on the pad

  • i wish she would stop flipping her hair she's given me a headache i cant watch any more of her videos is she's gonna do that

  • so you shouldn't use a toner if you have acne and dry skin?

  • @caligirrl22 Toners are for dry to normal skin..atringents are for oily skin...and yes they're different!! Toners= less alcohol or none at all, Astringents= More alcohol, more harsh. Even tho some dermatologists say astringents are not good for acne skin..I happen to disagree. Astringents work alot better for "me" than toners, toners do nothing for me and some of them clog my pores too...

I have oily/acne prone skin. U just have to try out a few and see what works better for "YOU".

  • @lalabunnybr thank you. :)

  • toners are only a must have for people with oily skin. then they should buy an astringent with witch hazel. but if your skin is normal to dry then just try rose water, its a natural soothing toner that wont dry out your skin, it also helps with healing scars.

  • Toner does make my face feel tighter and my pores smaller its very good for you face..

  • i just heard about witch hazel, is it any good for acne?

  • what is a built- in toner? please answer

  • Love it! Toner is so important and isnt emphasized enough!!!

  • I use the Burt's Bee's garden tomato toner. It says it restores PH balance.

What exactly is PH balance? I know you talked about it but I'm still confused as to what PH balance really is.

  • PH levels relate to the amount of acidity in a substance. It is rated in a scale of 0-14. "0" means the substance is more acidic (and 0 is equivalent to battery acid), "7" is neutral (appx. where water is), and "14" is when the substance is more basic (13 is bleach). The PH Levels in healthy skin is around 5.5: meaning our skin tends to be on the more acidic side.

  • Hmm. Interesting.

Thank you for the info! :D

  • @smexytbone PH is the balance of acids and bases. Anything with a PH below 7 is acidic while anything with a PH above 7 is basic. The PH for water is 7 (neutral), which is what you want your skin to be. I hope this helped! ^________^

  • this was helpful! i was wondering after you use the toner are you suppose to put a moisturizer on?

  • yes

  • after it dries u r

  • Thankyou, This helped :) x

  • this product was discontinued, are you using a new toner? What toner are you using?

  • yay exactly 2 years ago posted!!

  • Thanks Xteener! Great vid!!

Question: do you apply toner day and night, and do you put a moisturizer on after each application, as well? i have oily skin so idk if a moisturizer will be too much you know!

  • @jvandercook21 yes you should apply toner day and night, with moisturizer as well. it is so important to moisturize for ALL skin types. that will balance your skin, meaning you won't break out as much

  • I use green tea toner, the natural way, it very gentle and very inexpensive.

  • Is it okay if I use a toner even if my skin doesn't have acne? I am thinking of trying it out. Is there a side-effect when using a toner that I don't know about? I read somewhere you need a moisturizer too. Can you recommend me a good moisturizer? (there is so many I don't know which one is better) Thank you!

  • can toner be used on people with very dry skin too?

  • @mileyfannah9770 good question cos i have very dry skin too, answers please!

  • @pnychas I left an answer to mileyfannah9770, hope it helps you :)

  • @mileyfannah9770 yes, it can, because it helps to balance the pH levels. but try to avoid those with alcohol in them because it can dry your skin out and cause flaking. Simple Kind to Skin Soothing facial toner is the one I use and I have really(!) dry skin. There's no alcohol in it and it's non-irritating. I recommend it :) I hope that helped.

  • I love you! Thanks soo much. You answered all my question!

  • Not only it clears the pores but also tighten it creating the smoother complexion. Yeah...it's healthy for skin.

  • Went you where talking about oily skin i will recomended the equate astrigent since its suppost to work like the clena & clear deep cleaning astrigent

  • What toner due you use??

    thanks :)

  • she said it in the video

  • I have question is a toner the same as a astrigent and is toner better than a astrigent also have you ever use the equate astrigent from walmart i just will like to know!!!

    thanks :)

  • which come first? toner or moisturizer?

  • @melojeane cleanser,then toner, then moisturizer

  • this video was great true i was looking all over you tube ab toners! and if astringents were the same lol thanxx yu!! so wat do you do to treat your acne tho? i noe you do other videos on that to... neway im thinking of start using cetaphil and the nuetrogena acne stress control treatment gel nd lotion after that wat do you think ab it?? i never mosturise because i fell like its ganna break me out more but im ganna try it to see if it works so wat would you recomend i have acne prone skin/ combo

  • thanks for the vid

  • witch hazel works awesome!!

and plus its only couple bucks and all natural!

  • thanks for talking about toner. It is difficult to find any info about it.

I agree, one without alcohol is best, as it'll just dry out your skin.

  • what is a good replacement for Nivea Visage Moisturizing Toner? since it is now discontinued

  • hey can you make a review on the olay complete lathering cleanser

  • thank you!!

  • I personally like the toners :D

  • Thank you so much for the information! I've been wondering what a toner is and if i need to be using one. I think I'll go try the Nivea. :]

  • Thank You SOOO Much!

  • hi, i just wanted to say thanks so much for this info. It was very enlightening. I'm glad your video showed up on google when i was trying to find out what toners do. I've been using astringent for years, so I was wonderin whether I should change to toner. My skin is not oily, but it does get very dry if I don't use a moisturizer right away. Anyway, I was wondering whether you have any videos on facials? Would you pay to have a facial done or would it be smarter to do it yourself?

  • hey! im not xteener lmao but my mom likes to get facials done TO HER even though she knows exactly how to do it herself because of the way a pro massages and exfoliates ur skin. I dunno but i would say it is smarter to do it urself because its almost basically the same effect if u hv a facial/exfoliator u relly like like i like the St.Ives Apricot Facial Scrub :) i think thts the name..but it makes my skin so soft and clean!

  • I can't live without the toner!!

  • Thanks sooo much! I always wanted to know about this.

  • Thanks! Very helful! =)

  • so helpful!! =]

  • This is YouTube where people can make unbiased reviews and unbiased information. I'd trust this girl more that some company trying to convince me to buy their product, wouldn't you?

  • Most companies have some sort of research based evidence...whereas some people on youtube just ramble on and on...

  • Word!

  • Why can't people educate other people on everyday things? You don't need to be an "authority" on toners to look up information on the internet or in a book and then relay that info to others. What a ridiculous demand....To ask for formal training on toners of all things. hahahaha

  • How do you know if she hasn't looked up the information and educated herself so that she could pass on the information? Facial toners are not rocket science. You don't need to have a formal education to look up information on something as everyday as this. It's like telling somebody they need some kind of authority to talk about how to make coffee.

  • @YellowCheapers

i like your idea ha ha ha. advertisement actually has 2 bullets, first to advertise the product which is probably good, and second to publicise the product's buyer.

  • I suppose but it's not like she's claiming to be an expert on facial toner

  • biore triple action toner any good?

  • i just started to use biore and i used it morning and night time and it made my skin oily.. and it doesn't tighten like it says and i had little micro bumps appear on my face.

    so i say, nay.

  • yeh i've stopped using it now. doesn't work that well.

  • Toners do Not make you face pale..

  • best toner is lush tea tree water! :)

  • thanks for the info

  • thanks! very helpful

  • Toner helps to close the pores and prep the skin for your moisturiser and then make-up. very good for oily skin.

  • does toner help to make skin toner more even?

  • do toners make your face pale?

  • thank u!!! i had no idea what a toner was...

  • thank you so much it helped so much !

  • alcohol removes moisture from the skin.

  • does toner close up your pores?

  • partly yeah..

  • yeah my doc tells me that as well

  • thanks! I had so many questions about toner when it came with a clinique step system and this answered them! thanks again!

  • what type of skin type do you have ?

  • she has oily

  • I recently bought Alba facial toner, it works great so far

  • your sooooo pretty!!!

  • Clinique's mild clarifying lotion is an amazing toner. It's gentle alcohol free, and great for all skin types. Not just for dry skin.

  • I started doing St. Ives Apricot scrub then I bought the same Nivea toner... now... should I use the Nivea body lotion for men on my face? Or is the Nivea toner suffice?

I'm trying to control my oily skin. As it stands, after I use the toner, my face is nice and soft.

  • The Nivea toner is discontinued =[... I wanted to give a try since there were so many good reviews about it.. however it's discontinued!!!..Too late.. booohhoooo =*{

  • omg, i have a shiseido toner and i had no clue what it was (or how to use it) for the lowest. Thanks for this video!

  • How often are you suppose to use the toner? I use it just before I go to sleep. Are you suppose to use it twice a day like once in the morning and once at night time. Btw Thank you so much for posting these videos.

  • i dont like toners w/ alcohol too.

i went to clinique and they gave me one of their 3 step toner.

it burnssss the first time i put it on.

however i havent used toner recently....i heard they make your pores smaller. is that true?

if so, i'll take your recommendation!

  • I don't know if they make them smaller... but toners and astringents are known for tightening your pores right after you use them. :]

  • IT S A LOTION YES?

  • I started using a l'oreal toner for combination skin YESTERDAY and I already see a difference! My skin is way soft (after Marcelle moisturizer) and redness is a lot less noticeable.

    It's awesome!

  • so its basically same as cleanser. that wot it sounds like any way

  • I have the nuetrogena toner and I love it. It works wonders for my pores, for me toners are necessary.

  • Where do you buy the Nivea Toner

  • Hi, I have oily/combination /dry skin and Im 14. Is 14 a good age to start using the Nivea toner? I don't want it to wreck my skin if Im too young to use it. I want to use something really gentle if I am old enough to start it. Please help!

  • Age isn't so much of a problem with OTC products. Toners won't wreck your skin any more then sunscreen would.

  • i started using toner when i was 14 too.. it should be fine. it's never too early to start taking care of your skin!

  • I'm asian too and 'm using nivea visage facial foam and toner... it works fine with me.

  • cutie girl

  • thanks :] this video was helpful!

  • clean and clear has great astringents and toners.

  • I was wondering where you get your nivea toner? I tried finding it at walmart but they don't sale it. Do you know if they discontinued it?

  • i bought mine three years ago. and i stopped using it out of laziness. do you think it went bad?

  • yes, if it has been three years you definitely need a new one

  • olay toner

is really good if you have acne prone skin

  • really ? what about combination /oily skin

  • I use the olay toner work great. I have dry and oily skins

  • I'm a guy and I'm going to try this out. Thanks for the advice!

  • thanks, very nformative i'm going to try that nivea toner

  • i use the olay toner

  • how well does the olay toner work ? would it make your pores on your nose less visable?

  • i cant remmber. i stoped using toner for a while now.. it kinda burn us skin later on

  • You actually DO need to tone, because cleansing strips your skin of its natural oils, and most importantly; its acid mantle, which is a thin film on your skin that keeps infection and bacteria out. Your acid mantle has a pH of 5.5, and water has a pH of 7, toners BALANCE your pH back out. It is in fact, a necessary part of skin care, as long as your cleansing, which you are.

  • hey i'm just wondering but i've been using benefit toner every night and it doesn't really clear my skin.. like i've been breaking out on my forehead. would the toner be causing that?

  • hey thanks for your tips and advice (as well as your amazing makeup videos) i think im going to try toners now. :]

  • i love the Alba Hawaiian hibiscus toner. I've been using it for almost 2 years. super good stuff

  • im using simple toner

  • Very informative! I've been looking for toner info.

  • I use either Dermalogicas toner og Neutrogenas toner. Both work really well!

  • i heard toner could bbe used instead of makeup remover

    is it tru?

  • No, you should not substitute your makeup remover for a toner, but it definately does clean away makeup residue that ur makeup remover didn't take away.

  • please don't try to remove eye makeup with a toner... you'll regret it. Its great like she said, for the left over makeup on your skin after washing.

  • this product is discontinued. what other toners are good. im trying to get rid of red marks on my cheeks.

by the way you look amazing!

  • i use clinique tonger

  • try the estee lauder toner

it's alcohol free so it doesn't sting sensitive skin

    fresh feeling

    has a nice scent

and removes your makeup thats left over

  • i just bought a toner (neutrogena something, is it any good?) today and i don't know how to use it. i used my exfoliating wash with beads then i rubbed the toner onto my face like a lotion. i don't have any pimples but i have some blackheads on my nose. btw i'm an asian guy so i thought it would be good to hear from an asian person ;p

  • as long as you cleanse and moisturizer properly, you don't need a toner at all.

  • Ohh, so if I have combination skin (I do), I don't need a toner? I don't really get acne, except the occasion blemishes and/or pimple

  • same here ......so do we need to use the toner or not?

  • I use Lancome It is very refreshing. I thought in was to make the skin tighter

  • Great info, and you're cute! Thanks!

  • A V E D A is the best

  • I've looked for the Nivea Toner and I think it is discontinued. I checked at most of the nearby Wal-Marts and Walgreens, but no luck. Are you using a different brand now?

  • thanks xteener! great info on toners ...

  • I love Nivea Visage Toner and L'Oreal Hydrafresh Toner. They're pretty comparable. I pour it into a spritzer bottle and just spritz my face instead of using cotton pads. These work better than AHAs for me.

  • when you say dermatological products, to clarify, do you mean over-the-counter products that has stuff like, "dermatology tested," etc.?

would you care to explain more?

  • I think she's talking about the skincare brand dermalogica..

But, in my opinion, brand-name products with huge price tags don't always work that much better than "low-end" products that are half the price. Some drugstore products produce the same results, if not better results, then high-end brands. It just depends on your preference. :)

  • i just bought the clean and clear newest toner the cooling or w/e should i put that on b4 i put makeup on or after? or just b4 i go to bed?

  • Are you supposed to use toner in the morning, at night, or both?

Is toner a substitute for water, or do you put it on after washing with water?

  • hi.. you are suppose to apply toner after you wash your face so it's both day and night. ;)

  • No it does not substitute water. you wash your face with cleanser and dry it. After Toner is used typically with a cotton ball swiping all over your face. It mainly removes impurities that your cleanser missed. You'll be surprised because the toner picks up, you sometimes see a tint in the cotton ball showing dirt that has come off. You don't rinse the toner off. After that you just moisturize with whatever moisturizer you use.

  • Depending how strong your toner is and your preference, you can use it once or twice a day whenever you want. Some times toners contain alcohol that is drying on some skin types, you might consider wearing it once a day if it dries it out . I use it in evening to ensure that I clean off all my make up off my face before I go to sleep. I don't usually use toner in the morning because my skin is pretty clean from cleansing the night before.

  • i am using Dickinson's Witch hazel Astringent. in yellow or blue variant.. it's all natural, but it has 14% of alcohol in it.. but it doesn't sting.. it's really good

  • what facial cleansers/facial toners/moisturizers do you use?

any reviews for any good drugstore cleansers/facial toners/moisturizers?

  • Depending what skin type you have. Different products are good for certain skin types. If you have combination skin leaning a bit to the dry side like me, and don't break out a lot, then i suggest Olay Hydrate and Cleanse line of cleansers. I would suggest a gentle toner that's alcohol free and pore refining like the Nivea Visage Gentle toner (pink one). I love Biother
