As an overweight individual, and someone who grew up being fat- let me say that efforts to fix this are commendable. The problem, in my own experience, is that a person struggles with problem but also how to fix that problem when you constantly feel judged. I diet and eat well, but I still won't enter a gym.
I think the best thing that could be done is to create programs specificly for over weight kids. Put kids with a common goal together so that fear of judgment isn't an issue.
