  • I prefer Nirvana's version

  • @xRaZ0r38 Kurt just can't compare to Bowie's version vocally speaking.

  • @crucisnh Naaaah Kurt destroys Bowie's voice in this instance, no passion, conviction or true vocals even in this.

  • wonderful compilation of photos of an illustrious career so far and excellent audio for this classic tune. thank you.

  • I love the variety each time he performs this song. The tempo, inflections, instrumentation, syncopation, accompanying vocals, etc. are always reinterpreted.

  • LOVE the photo of David and Annie Lennox at 1:56...two of my idols in one photo!!!

  • @brbgal Mine too!! : )

  • what about nirvana's one?

  • @TheJogeta nirvana played cover. this is original my friend :)

  • great video!

    Bowie is a genius!

love his amazing music and his style is unique!;)

  • @moeismyfriend I wish he'd do a come-back tour like so many others but it seems doubtful.

  • @thegasworks yeah i know:( we need more bowie! please i would definitely go!

  • Amazing... I've never seen so many bowie pics in one video! And I loved the transitions between each one of them. This may just be my favorite song... but then I love a lot of different songs! XD

  • @dunespeak Thank you very much. I love a lot of different songs too!!

  • That was great! Well done!!!

  • @rudedog062 Thank you!!!

  • I love the police mugshot. Compare it to James Brown, Hugh Grant... he didn't get the memo you're supposed to look a shambles.

  • @arabiansanchez I take your point. :)

  • Hi Great video,

    Best wishes

    Mark

  • @oldstrat1 Thanks Mark. :)

  • He's a gorgeous chameleon

  • @maeusesheriff can shape shift my way anytime! lol

  • yea it is

  • : )

  • bowie sounds like orochimaru... that's pretty weird.

  • LOL...I did make him appear like that - a little.

  • It was probably intentional on the part of the dub team.

  • maginific

  • : ))

  • the man who...... blew my mind

  • And mine!!

  • This is ART.

    Brilliant.

The Man who sold the world should be paying you----a billion is a lot of world...

  • daam this video is sick!

    especially if your stoned!! lol

  • That was an amazing video..

  • I'm glad you like it. Thanks : )

  • Good tribute. The song is a masterpiece

  • Thanks! Yeah the song is really great. I love it.

  • Kobain made an excellent cover, anyway his version in the 70th would have been ignored, couse nowaday almost all the music is only crap....anyway 5 stars to Bowie and 4 to Kobain......

  • LOL...are you having difficulty finding new music to suit your taste Paolo? I think you're right but I still like some of the new stuff coming along.

  • hell nah.. original is always better!

  • Great! Thanks!

  • Thank you!

  • What a bitch, he looks good in guys and girls clothes ;p. How unfair. (I hope people know I'm being sarcastic and lurves Bowie)

    Is unfair though ;p

    Zion

  • I have to agree - A Queen Bitch in all tht satin and tat!! I lurves him too.

  • Very cool!

    me gusta tu trabajo

    *****

  • Thanks for the nice compliment.

  • song superb for a superb video!!!! 5******

  • love this song,

    and you mr gasworks :D

  • Thanks!! ( ^ _ - )

  • cool video

  • Thank you.

  • i think nirvana did it better

  • Really? Ah but Bowie showed us the way to Nirvana...lol

  • i only really knew the nirvana one before today and i think its one of their best, the bowie version i think is better tho :D

  • Bowie released Man Who Sold the World in the US in 1970 and in the UK in 1971. It's also the title of his third album. I think Nirvana released the song in around 1993. Lots of people love this version but I prefer the original.

  • Favourite Bowie song?

  • Oooh that's a hard one. Man Who Sold the World and Hunky Dory are my favourite albums but that's because they were my introduction to Bowie. I have so many favourites but the ones I choose to listen to the most are (in no particular order lol) Saviour Machine, All the Madmen and Bewlay Brothers. Youtube didn't seem to showcase these too well so I decided to make vids! Well..Bewlay Bros. is still in the pipeline....

  • For me, I think it has to be (in no particular order as well) ziggy stardust, ashes to ashes, bewlay bros.

Have you heard the Flight of the Conchords song? It's called Bowie, if you didn't know lol

  • The New Zealand comedians? Yes it's very funny! lol

I want to change my favs to include yours too!!

  • change ur favourite whats? lol

    im confused :)

  • Jeez you have me confused now too! lol

Change my fav Bowie songs to include your fav Bowie songs too.

  • Aaaaah, much clearer lol

i'm not sure whether to add space oddity...

    hmmm

  • Lol...that's what happens to me when asked to name my favourites...the list just keeps getting bigger!!

  • What songs were you thinking of adding?

  • Oh God - how long is a piece of string? lol

I'd definitely add Quicksand, Golden Years, Life on Mars, Jean Genie.........see what I mean - they're just from his earlier albums! lol

  • Yeah, good choices may i say.

He should release a new album, but i bet it would be disapointing. Such is life.

  • I've heard fans pleading for the wife to let him out for a while so that he can perform! lol I say if he's happy where he is, then he deserves it - his music has given me great pleasure over the years. I think if Bowie had the 'urge' to produce something new, it would not be disappointing. But if he was doing it to please fans or for commercial reasons alone, it probably would be. Genius doesn't die - just gets blown around in the winds of change every now and then.

  • That's quite a nice way of looking at it.

Did you see him in Extras?

  • I did!! It's on utube - think I have it in my favourites somewhere. It's very funny. Ricky Gervais is another fav of mine.

Did you see him on the Jonathan Ross show? It was good. He used to do a lot more interviews - maybe he still does, but in the States so we don't get to see them.

  • yeah, i especially like Ricky Gervais on Jonathan Ross becuase they're mates so they just laugh at each other. I never really got into the Office though. But then again I've never really tried to get into it if you catch my drift.

  • I'm being confusing again - I meant Bowie on Jonathan Ross! lol I do like watching Rickie Gervais on it though - it's always hilarious. I couldn't get into the Office until I got sick and someone bought me the box set. It's actually great but definitely something you need to 'get into'.

  • Yeah, my mate has always tried to introduce me into the office but i never know when it's on or anything lol. I don't think i've seen Bowie on Jonathan Ross, I'll Iplayer or youtube it, see if it's there.

  • love it!

    Nice work!

  • Thank you.

  • i love this song.

    good, nice video

  • Thank you. : )

  • I never get tired of listening to this song. The pictures are great, really good production. Thanks for putting this together and sharing it with us.

  • my message cannot reach your channel,it seems...damn !! anyway i'm enyoyng your video so much !!!

  • Thanks Paolo.

  • Thanks. I decided to portray him as the subject of the song because he did 'sell' his created persona to a world wide audience. ~ Frances

  • Excellent, classic song. Wonderful choice of photos too :) I love the Heathen photos, the one at 2:24 is a favorite.

  • Thanks Sarah, I love the Heathen photos too. I'd love to make a video of Bowie's own artwork but I can't find a site that has any decent photos of it. ~ Frances

  • I adore this song & Bowie always beyond great!!!

    Excellent job on the video!!!

  • Thanks. I have to say that I love all of The Man Who Sold the World album. Looking forward to your next one....no pressure lol ~ Frances

  • I loved how fluid your slide show was, great job Frances.

  • Thanks Kat, I was afraid I'd put too many 'bells and whistles' into it! lol ~ Frances

  • Brilliant Frances I love the effects ...that red planet was inspired.. I will have to get you to show me how you do it....the song was good too

  • Thanks Mick. I liked the effect in the planets too!! ~ Frances

  • great video frances wtg

  • I love what you have done here Frances, it's completely brilliant!!! x

  • Thanks Tracey x

  • Elegant and Graceful! And the morphing effect is mind-blowing! top marks Frances!

  • Elegant and graceful - that's me all over Padraig Lol! Thanks for the great comment. ~ Frances

  • Great slide show, you did a great job with choosing the images! I like very much the image of Bowie as the sun. He really warms us!

  • Thanks Albanor - there were a lot of images to find!! ~ Frances

  • Nice job. This is quite nicely done!

    Lovely song and lovely man.

  • Thanks oizephyr14. I suspected was a 'lovely' man when he wrote 'Kooks' for his first son Zoey (Duncan/Joe) ~ Frances

  • I think wonderful when the Bowie's image falling like a shattered mirror leaving another Bowie's appearing absolutely intact, his different characters with his everyday face that watch from behind,Bowie beetween the galaxies,Bowie as the core of a sun...after all everything is dust of dead suns..Maybe he's like the Arabian Phoenix..a future's mind rising from the ashes of this present time.Anyway the best moment is,in my opinion, when you wonderfully show us the simple man, husband and father.

  • Thanks Paolo. I like the shattered mirror effect too. I like his 'family album' also, it's like looking at 'the beautiful people'! ~Frances

  • Great slick editing. One of my favourite Bowie tracks. Attempted by both Lulu and Kurt with some respectful tones. I prefer the younger Bowie images also but the ones with Lexi are great. Where do you get all those graphics?

  • Thanks. I trawl the internet for the basic images and then superimpose, amalgamate and generally play around with them until I create images of my own. I placed Bowie images on Mars and its surrounding moons, surrounded the sphinx with his alter egos etc. Time consuming but fun! ~ Frances

  • Well, it sure is worth the time you spend on it. The slideshow is super!

  • Thanks a lot for the nice comment, it's very encouraging!! ~ Frances
