So what your saying is out of the box the redcat is better? Maybe??? But after you buy a radio, the parts for 4ws and all the other crap to put on it... it is still a redcat and you could have used that money to buy a kit of the AX10 and put what parts you wanted on from the get go. I am not trying to dog you, just saying that there is no way a redcat will ever be better than the higher end crawlers...
A dig unit is only needed for competitions that don't allow rear steer. Rear steer is waaay better than Dig. The expense is much less and the wear and tear on the rig is much less. A Dig unit just does a bake stand to a drift - hard on tires and motors. Yes, the RedCat is Motor On Axel and the Axial is not. The MOA's put way less stress on suspension units (torque). Rear steer, for those of us that like to just have fun and climb - ROCKS! Unless you are doing "comps," Dig is silly.
Just to clarify the redcat is a motor on axle rig and the axial is a shaft driven rig. The redcat either needs a dig unit, dual esc's with a mixing radio or an esc such as the Novak m2 dig that has it built in.
I bought an hpi crawler king, it was low dollar entry level machine. The plastic steering linkage is crap, you can have an insanely high tourqe servo, but you'll lose it all in the binding. I was still interested in the crawling part of the hobby, and bought an rtr ax10 scorpion. again, entry level but it was so much better, the esc is far more reactive, the stock tires are of better compound, and even though the linkage is again, plastic, the forward mount servo helps alot. Think I'll try rs10
Trying to get me one of these rs10. from the video looks like it crawls and steers very well, and for the price its a great deal. What really sold me on the rs-10 is the 4 differant steering profiles. I hope to have one of these this month. Oh and great video!
If you are secure in your manhood, then by all means but a cheap crawler and get out there and have fun. The rest of us will e hiding behind expensive crawlers, and will be happy to crawl with you!!!!
I have both of these crawlers, and besides the clod control on the RS10, it turns better, the battery lasts longer, and the flex is insane, so my opinion is the RS10 is better, but that's just me!
I bet this pisses the boys/girls at Axial OFF !!!!! I have 2 RS10s and im glad to see at a the very least the AX10 would have ahard time beating the RS10
@hologramdon Nope, no dig. That's just a function of two motors. Yes, it was weird how the front paused (stalled). Dropping to the lower optional gears in the axles has helped along with switching to a 2.4 ghz trigger. The stock radio can stutter and cause weirdness (depends on whats near like old garage door openers). Picked up the Futuba 3 PM-X and it has been fine ever since.
the redcat losed in part and toke it form there four wheel streering helped if the axail had a dig or that i could of won but i like 2 engine better then one i got a exceed and love it over my custom built tlt based crawler
@Chewbaco398 At the time the video was shot the Axial held a small edge in climbing. As of this date (June) that is all fixed. The Redcat has always steered better (no need for dig or expensive tricks). I love the Redcat. Now with a 2.4 ghz tx/rx it's insanely precise. One can almost argue the Redcat is for better drivers but at the price point - even with mods - I don't mind the extra practice. Redcat RS10 all the way. It is different... but that makes it better in the end ;-)
@daduece2144 - The AX-10 did start life as the RTR version and over time has been converted to a crawler. Way too unstable etc. as an RTR. The RS-10 has it's original motors that have worked flawlessly. The only hiccups in the RS-10 system is that the FM radio can get glitchy and the suspension needs to be tamed.
@PrivateerConcepts which do you think would be better. The axial ax10 rock racer, or the rs10. I have some concern with the motors and servos failing, and the rs10 have 2 motors and 2 servos to fail. The ax10 is also a easier truck to get a brushsless set up for if the motor fails. Which truck would be better as a first crawler just for crawling over medium and small rocks?
well i have the axial ax 10 and have had no problems with anything breakin on it yet. the redcat is a good rig for the price but it looks so damn goofy.i have a few axial rigs that do work.
i mostly like the rs10 cuz its WAY cheaper and its MOA whick will definatley help you in trouble stops like the first hang up there the front was doing most of the work cuz it waz actually getting traction
The front end is indeed working on both rigs. The front on the RS10 can be overtightened however. If you watch closely the underside of the RS10 hangs on the first shot. Wiggling the front alows averything to move again.
Without any doubt at all I recommend the RS10! The AX10 it's going against in this video is $100 more. The first shot hang up of the RS10 was cured with $20 worth of suspension upgrades. Like the video says... you be the judge ;-)
@PrivateerConcepts i got mine a few months ago and beet the snot out of it and my buddy who has the ax10 with all the mods on it cant even keep up with mine thats all stock hahahaha

you should try it

@superben762
how come RS 10+ DIG ... they do not have DIG
hovilig 4 months ago
@hovilig You have to buy a MOA electronic dig unit or build your own. It really helps with the tough turns
superben762 4 months ago
i think that is useless to compare MOA vs standard and 4WS versus 2WS
