  • all i can say is that they murdered the Dragon Ball in Hollywood,,, as in total nightmare and a great embarrassment....i want to kill person who proposed it...

  • LIVE ACTION GENOCYBER!!!

  • you know what they say, all toaster toast toast

    lotsa spaghetti

    gay luigi

    Mah boiiiii

    I wonder what's for dinner

at least some things are hilarious

  • I understand your concern, and I agree with most of your choices. However, I draw the line at you considering Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM a bad series. SatAM is actually one of the more well-executed video game adaptations, and it's also an invalid comparison as American Sonic and Japanese Sonic are now considered mutually exclusive entities. This is not nostalgia talking, every video game fan I've talked to considers SatAM a better Sonic series than even Sonic X. So, let it go.

  • Done ranting weaboo?

  • Well SORRY if you shiat is too damned good for its own good.

If you will notice, we hack out all the adult themed stuff that we don't agree with, and regurgitate what think is appropriate for the kiddz.

Remember Japanese kids are way fn smarter than ours, gotta dumb shiat down for them sos they dun get smrt.

    Case and point : Macross.

If we didn't butcher it, we would have fusion powered mechs and spaceships n shiat. WHO WANTS THAT!??!1 The kids woulda been inspired or crap n stuff!

    /sarcasm

  • Totally agree with you. I was disappointed and irritated by Hollywood's below mediocre "Astro Boy". Because Atom is a national treasure for Japanese.

I really love Hollywood movies as long as adapting their own stories.

  • Actually, the resident evil movies are quite good, same goes for mortal kombat, which you forgot to account for some reason...

Yes, most adaptations are fails, but you can't dis all of them.

  • @DemonicDeath1 I did not add Mortal Kombat, for it wasn't made by Japan, it was made by Midway Games which is American.

  • @DemonicDeath1 in comparison to the japanese game resident evil, the movies are a disgrace, they take nothing from resident evil bar the infection and characters, they made the characters shit and worthless because every film revolves around milla jovovich one, who is incredibly overpowered and isnt even part of the resident evil universe

  • The only possible way to describe my reaction to this video: Facepalm.jpg

  • Globalization will have it's undesirables, always. One of them is the "bastardization" of other forms of... well 'art' in this case, from their pure versions in their original culture.

Don't be a protester. Instead, help spread the message: if you like what you see, then be informed! There are better, original versions of the movies and shows you like! And they open a doorway to another vibrant, exotic culture that you won't want to miss!

  • he also was gonna direct akira, but lets face it, the anime version itself sucked. that movie was going to be made before Ghost in the Shell., but he didnt like it so he scraped that project. good move on his part. as for the other movies cowboy bebop might be pretty good if they get descent actors, but the rest u mentioned they shouldnt mess with.

  • im a big fan of the ghost in the shell series and have already heard that speilberg was gonna be directing it. i personally think it wont be a flop for the simple reason that sci fi is speilbergs specialty. if anyone else did it , it would most likely suck but it s been confirmed that it may premire in 2011 but at the latest 2012.

  • resident evil movie for me is okay

  • i dont mind watch U.S live actions at least they have 2 or more asians in it.

  • So this Sentai show actually has a plot, as opposed to Power Rangers?

  • @hulkmeister23 It is not only one Sentai show. All the rangers suits you've seen in the many Power Rangers are from each Super Sentai serie that existed a year before each Power Ranger show appeared, and there were many Super Sentai shows before Power Rangers got to exist since 1975. Check it out in Wikipedia, the 1st Super Sentai serie in which Power Rangers used footages, is originally called Zyuranger.

  • @Zorianff9 cool.

  • @Zorianff9 Not only their suits and plots, but most of action scenes were performed by Japanese stunt actors because american stuntmen didn't have skills to do that. Therefore I have mixed feelings about Saban becoming millionaire.haha

  • i agree with you... well, that's what the Americans do... mess up the Japanese style of story-telling...

  • Their are some more live action disgraces coming soon and there names are:Bleach,Deathnote, and Ninja Scroll.

  • i got somethin to say.........the only way to make american adaptations better to suit everyones needs is to let the original creator direct, write, and select the casting....thats the only way i can think of getting everyone to just stop fighting over something as mindless as this...god dammit people..goin over top with this y'know?!

  • japan has unique art (althought adapt from western)..they made GODZILLA, KINGKONG,and the most of all the most popular KYODAI(giant hero),ULTRAMAN...only in japanese hero you can see HENSHIN(transfromation)sequence which rare or not even seen in western counterpart heroes...like SUPER SENTAI(the power ranger adation) ..even their live action series are still good, like GAROU,

  • what was the anime on 1:05?

i've been searching for this anime for a long time.

  • @mc2equalzee ok... when you click on it it goes to speed racer. i meant the one right after 3d speed racer. anyone plz?

  • @mc2equalzee

Thats Kappa Mikey, which is an "american anime" that used to air on Nicktoons Network. I saw it before, it tries to parody anime, but it does a horrible job. IMO, it sucks.

  • I REALLY hope that they come through with making a Neon Genesis Evangelion movie that doesnt suck when made into a live action movie. :/

  • I remember when hollywood work on Fist Of The North Star and it sucks. Hollywood piss me off cause they turn all the good anime and asian movies into crap.

  • cloverfeild made Godizalla into a bitch.

  • You forgot The King of fighters.

But I'm a dub person, subtitles made me dizzy. So I learn the language and watch in the raw. The only cure for cruddy hollywood bile adaptations is FANMADE films.

  • I just learned of King of Fighters, but I added it in "more options".

Yep, fanmade would do the affair, but I say it must stop, NO Hollywood adaptations should have ever been made.

  • No more disgraces on video game movies, we need better ones that follow the story and not a stupid reimagining adaption! I rather play the original than just watch the stupid ones! I better off watching an anime adaption Stitch! than the original american version which I don't give a hoot anymore!

  • You know what? You're actually right! When I was a little I was into Power Rangers I thought they were awsome! But, when I went to that anime store, I heard the people think it would be way better if the whole series was just english dub, than using american actors to potray a stupid adaption. I do agree now, so I would just give up the american version power rangers and go on strike for an english dub instead!

  • I'm afraid an english dub of the Sentai Series has never been done, but you can have in Japanese with english subtitles. The one I recommand you the most is Choujuu Sentai Liveman.

  • Were do you find this music it's aswome and ive played every game you showed on there, Japan would be a nice place to vacation it's a beautiful country.

  • I heard this music from a french clip of Sonic mix, and it was a hell finding it cause it's not popular. But it seems it's called (not sure) Groovy Beat by Clima X, but if you want it, you can use the website mediaconverter org, which converts the audio of a youtube video in MP3.

  • It's not destroying your memories if you don't watch it, infact it's better not to give them any money at all.

Plots get stolen because it's easier. Disney inspired japan to anime anyway. Guess the quality only goes one way =p

  • Disney inspired Japan to anime?

  • yes they inspired by disney work, i agree with that, there is article said that japanese anime is inspired by disney work, but they did not copy disney instead they put their own way of making animation...example:only in anime you can see EXAGGERATED EXPRESSION(blooming, blues, angry, annoyed, blushing, happy), and EMPHASIZING THE MOVEMENTS(example when attack is so fast, they made seizuring to make it look more powerful)

  • I just learned about the GHOST IN THE SHELL live action and its AN ABOMINATION. They cant come up with anything knew so they milk the animes to force there own profits and YOU KNOW WHAT there are those IDIOTS out there who are all YEAHHHHHH this is going to be awesome well IT WONT BE ITS GOING TO SUCK. I CANT BELIEVE THERE LETTING THEM DO T HIS ITS TERRIBLE.

  • ...I don't believe they are goin to destroy more of my favorite childhood anime...this must be put to an end...

  • Oh dude, you forgot

    Battle Royale.

  • Our western culture is quite an ignorant one and reguards anime to be nothing but childrens cartoons at first glance, or they take all that bullshit they heard about it all being cartoon porn. It DOES piss me off. Besides, the creators of the original sell their ideas, they make money, something to feed the brainless masses, it all works out. BTW SUPER SENTAI 4 EVA! JUKEN SENTAI! GEKIRANJYA!

  • I have to disagree with all of you.I'm an otaku and I will always love the originals BUT unfortunately we are only a small part of something greater. And so to make a story that would only ever be heard by few, thruogh live action they are brought to a much larger audience., and maybe, if only a few, people will look at these and say "that was good, I wonder if the original was just as good."

  • 4:01 - you said it! lol

btw, i really like that pic of naruto at 4:13

  • I though of the wrath of the Super Saiyan for "Enough Already" and Naruto for asking people to follow the complains, because many people respect and follow him (recently, the villagers acclaimed him).

  • On the other hand I hate Power Rangers not because it rip off Sentai but it was suck when disney ruined it. Robotech didnt suck as a series but the movie will. Akira is on hiatus thats good. Finally nto sure about ghost in the shell but Spielburg hasnt done any movie that is bad so I'm kinda optimistic. But I agree with 50% of this!

  • Robotech was a dumb and useless idea of reuning 3 series, Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada, with one sole lame intro, replacing the kick ass Openings and Endings.

  • @Zorianff9 It wasn't so bad. Could've been much much better but I'm sorta fine with what we got.

But the original series will be better than Robotech no matter what.

  • Agrees.

  • *quietly nods head and agree*

  • hollywood running out of ideas? like seriously now why flimmakers turn anime, video games, and japanese horror movies into unwatchable, raped in the ass, piece of tarish shit, they adapt comic book movies and stay true to the source maternal why do the same to anime, video games?

  • Dragon ball and Street fighter live action were ass.

  • Cant you all see that this is vengeance for the complete annihilation that they faced after the anime boom of the 90's which completely destroyed their moronic industry built around episodic series? Isn't it obvious that they've been trying to take japan down a notch just because japan's come to a point in which it can actually tell a good story in a frigging cartoon?

  • I'm totally with you on this. DB Evolution and US Godzilla SUCKED!!!

  • Agreed.

  • I should also throw in that it's not that I have a problem with who plays the character (though I do) as to how the movie is done. They don't follow story lines or plots, don't fit the characters and can't depict what the anime has already done. All they are doing is creating a B flick... More like a L Flick...

  • I agree with you completely. I love your video, it actually shed some light on a bunch of the shows I grew up watching that weren't actually originals. I do have to say, though, that the first Resident Evil movie was pretty good. That may be because I love Milla Jovovich, but compared to most remakes and mock ups I think they did a good job with that one. Now, to go about stopping the progress of destroying the idea of Japanese arts!!!

  • Stop the live action anime movies! Hollywood is ruining my childhood!

    STOP IT YOU BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!

  • dragon ball was shit (movie)

  • Resident Evil wasn't so bad. I maybe a little biased, though, since I'm a big Milla Jovovich fan.

  • Resident Evil is not an anime.

  • I know. I was just commenting on that since it was referenced in the video.

  • Here's my predictions (and this is my honest opinion):

    - Ghost In The Shell: Might be okay. Japanese culture elements in both the manga and anime series weren't very present.

    - Robotech: No comment...

    - Cowboy Bebop: Keanu and Spike look alike anyway. The movie could be good, as most of the characters weren't Japanese and there's no need to worry about having mixed actors to 'play' Japanese roles.

    - Gatchaman: As long as it's known as Battle Of The Planets - a better title in my opinion.

  • 20 years and there hasn't been any good adaptations, so don't expect anything well adapted, keep dreaming.

  • For your comment regarding GITS, I know what you mean but you have to remember that the Major's name is a huge japanese reference itself. See my previous comments on this video for more details about the name "Motoko Kusanagi".

  • Yeah, I see what you mean after just reading it a while ago. But he's obviously going to set it in America, so there's no stopping him.

I for one don't watch any of these American abominations (I don't regard them as adapting anything) - DoA, Chun-Li, Dragonball, Speed Racer, etc.

I think they should just concentrate on adapting the material from America and Britain, especially comics and 90s cartoons.

  • For instance, why can't they turn Swat Kats into a CG film? Swat Kats was made by Hannah Barbera and it was my favorite American cartoon when I was 10 years old and living here in the UK.

It actually looks like an anime and was done by American animators. It would make an awesome CG film. But guess what happened?

A bunch of retarded women thought it was too 'violent' despite being aimed at both kids and adults, and it was taken off the air. Stupid middle-class housewives...

  • Dude...I love that show me and my bro would be a perfect match to T-bone and his bro. We look all most like them, and if what you said is true and that is how my Swat Cats got kicked off the air. I hope those women die a humorously cruel death. I loved that show man I thought it was taken off air because people were not watching it. OH... that motorcycle and jet combo is so ill!

  • My mother not only let me watch Swat Kats when I was 7, she always told me whenever it was airing, because she knew how I enjoyed this kick ass show, and its so called "violence" never affected me. Couldn't those stupid mothers think of the joy of their children? An animated movie to conclude the serie would be awesome, but I doubt it unfortunately.

  • @wazzonah They're not stupid, but they are derperate. Get it? Desperate Housewives?

  • There are reasons for changes made to stories when adapting Japanese movies/video games/shows into U.S. filsm/shows: 1) The U.S. filmmakers know that they're not the original authors of the Japanese works themselves, so when it comes to getting blessing from Japanese authors, it's better to introduce to U.S. viewers a whole new continuity, and 2) For those adapts to suit movie tastes of U.S. viewers. Better than censored edits of actual Anime! Still, I'm a fan Jap films.

  • Yes. To Hollywood, it's all about making the story understandable to the average American viewer (who is not familiar with the mangas or animes). So yeah, I can understand why the adaptations diverge so much from the original story. The problem I have, is that, from a neutral POV, the quality of the films suck most of the times.

  • Personally, I have faith in the Gatchaman film. It's by the same director who did TMNT, so it should be at least decent.

  • Please, everyone who gets to watch this video, SHARE it with your friends so it would be more viewed and more people would protest.

  • WTF is that at 1:05 (that purple critter looks like a pikachu)

  • America is just different than Japan. Simply, Big Execs don't get anime, but that's not the point, they push the need to "dumb" things down for us American Viewers because we probably won't get it either. It's like taking a famous painting of Big Ben (London's Clock tower), bringing it here to America and adapting the painting to look more like the Washington Manument because we Americans might not understand the significants of a Painting of "Big Ben". v_v

  • There are just some things in this world that are meant to be left alone.

These three CLASSICS (emphasis on classic) are perfect examples.

  • You're dreaming if you think there's a way to stop American companies from making adaptations of Japanese shows... as long as it sells and they can make profit from it, they will forever make them. I do agree, though, many shows are just mere mediocre adaptations, but you can't ask people not to be nostalgic with the things that are part of their childhood memories... like it or not, those shows are parts of many people's lives...

  • American products that weren't so bad. I like the Mario Bros. Movie. U.S. Darkstalkers & SF cartoon sucked. But Capt. N. Mario Bros, Zelda cartoon those were descent not too bad. And American Sonic cartoons were pretty good. c'mon Resident Evil movie want that bad. only good thing about S.F. movie is you get to see Kylie Mingoue cosplay Cammy.

  • Speed Racer movie racist! Mach Go Go Go Mifune Go and all those characters were suppose to be Asian/Japanese. Same with DBZ movie

    five stars !

  • Yeah really , the Chun-li movie actor wasn't even asian either.

  • she's half Chinese! Kristen Kruek (looks a little bit like Bill Kaulitz)

  • Still Chun-li in a movie MUST be all Chinese, it would only be fair to the character at leasr

  • and what if the Legend of Chun Li they decided to cast Rae-dawn Chong?

  • I want lucy Liu as chun-li ... no exceptions!

  • Lucy Liu is not hot! Kelly Hu would make a better one than Lucy Liu. But I rather have Tamlyn Tomita as Chun Li.

  • Why don't you think Lucy Liu isn't hot? come on

    man

  • I will see Cowboy Bebop & Ghost In the Shell. They both sound tight!

But yeah the only good anime adaptation is Blood: The Last Vampire

  • These movies are most likely being made to introduce new people to the original works, but try achieving that with bad movies.

The problem is that most of the film producers want to reduce the risk. The competitive nature of Hollywood makes it hard to make good adaptations of "Not in America/Europe" known productions because to catter more audiences they have to change aspects. Hollywood is not suitable for good anime adaptations.

  • Please, everyone who gets to watch my video, SHARE it with your friends and suscribers. It does not get popular nor viewed much because I did not have enough suscribers, but it has to so more people would protest.

  • Roger that sir.

  • Thank you, pal.

  • i totaly agree hollywod dont know shit about anime only thing they know is hellow kitty i hate hollywood leave anime let us watch anime take theirs hands off of it it piss me off the pretend like care they dont they only can do is bioaphry movies thats it

  • Dragon Ball is the clear example of what shouldn't be done.

But Cowboy Bebop there is actually a chance of being good, the script will only be accepted if the japanese owners agree with it.

  • you are the best

  • look at the racism that is hollywood.

that we still see the image of the African

scratching his head acting the fool so White Teens can still laugh at us and the stupid "love you long time" stereotype american film and tv portrays Asians Women its a disgrace that keeps repeating itself over and over.

there is no imagination in America

the pioneers are dead and what we get is horrible reproductions of things from other countries. wheres the innovation?

    it needs to stop!

  • i whant top high director to make adaptation such as peter jackson or steven spilverg those are what we have to see

  • NO WAY. I want NO MORE. How about some Aquaman or Wonderwoman or Green Lanthern live action movie for example (we only got Superman and Batman so far)?

  • I agree they need to stop no one wants to see a whitenized version of characters we love from anime and video games. maybe the wish is Speilberg lost more money from Maddof's ponsies Scheme. He wouldn't have enough to touch our favorite icons of Japanese anime.

  • They are working on a Green Lantern movie and a Justice League movie, but I think Justice League will suck because they're not including Bale, Routh, or any other actors that played in the movies

  • That's good news, but what about the other DC heroes? Marvel published all their heroes (Spiderman, X-men, Iron Man, Hulk, Punisher...), so US studios should stop wasting time in foreign pieces and focus on their own they still haven't adapted.

And yeah, Justice League will suck, because backgrounds of heroes won't be included, since it's a DC team movie.

  • You've gotta be kidding, you're saying they can do whatever they want EVEN disgrace Japanese art?

  • Holywood is already a disgrace, though I'm glad to see the Marvel adaptations, even if they ruin it. as much as most anime is worse than the manga. It's tough to get the required background in such a short time as 1h30-2 hours.

Marvel getting Disney's monetary backing is a very good thing.

Either way, we can't stop this without changing the way people see Anime, I know many misguided people that don't even differentiate between western cartoons and japanese anime.

    A sad situation indeed.

  • thats the problem we let these pieces of shit American directors steal from our favorite artist.

making it papable for White american Media Still shows American entertainment

is no different from the day of Charlie Chan and white actors playing both African,Native American and Asian Characters.

and if you notice everytime these Directors

throw in a racial stereotype character they defend it.

were going backwards and i'm sick to death of this.

  • I tell you now guys if they change the Major for the upcoming Ghost in the Shell movie, I'm not even going to watch the trailers. There is a reason why Masamune Shirow decided to name the Major "Motoko Kusanagi". "Motoko" means in english "uncovered, child". Kusanagi" refers to a legendary Japanese sword as important to Japan's history as Excalibur is to Britain's, and is one of three Imperial Regalia of Japan. So the overall meaning of the name "Motoko Kusanagi" is "the sacred child of Japan".

  • So changing the name "Motoko Kusanagi" for "Jessica Baker" or "Melissa Jonhson" or whatever will be a great insult for one of the best if not the best Masamune Shirow's work, Ghost in the Shell.

  • I don't know if it's true, but I heard that Steven Speilberg will be not producing or even directing the Ghost in the Shell movie. He did help DreamWorks in acquiring the rights to produce a live-action film adaptation but apparently he does not want to get involved in the project. Strange considering the fact he mentioned that "'Ghost in the Shell' is one of his favorite stories" ...

  • he is just producer. he hired a screenwhrter by now. i think they dont have director in charge yet. still i think he will keep only at a production level and hire a director.

  • @JamesBond77 He actually is directing the movie. The live-action GITS movie shouldn't be that bad seeing that Spielberg is involved.

  • Since robotech (LITTLE r on purpose) is already an AMERICAN hackjob of three REAL anime TV series and therefore can not be considered a JAPANESE animation, I hope it gets butchered. Most of the japansese references was edited out (Lisa Hayes instead of Misa HayASE for example) for the making of robotech. And because of that ONLY fact, it deserves NO RESPECT from anime fans. 90% of anime fans hate robotech anyway so no big deal.

  • Could not agree more with your rant dude. Hollywood fucked up Speed Racer, Dragon Ball and Street Fighter and they are still doing the same mistake over and over : JAPANSESE CULTURE DOES NOT FIT WITH THE AMERICAN ONE !!! It's like a French producer trying to do a good movie about one or few aspects of the Indian culture. It's a fail right there since he cannot fully understand Indian culture. So why the "GENIUS" at Hollywood are thinking they can succeed in that regard ?
