Morning Will, I`ve been following your vids and tutorials for quite sometime now. I wonder have you any opinion on a looping device from Line 6. Its the JM4 Looper and I`m considering it so I can play the blues just like your doing with Smokestack BLues....I could wake up the village
Hi Rick. I've seen loopers in action and they seem quite effective. I don't use one myself - I have an 8-track recorder and do simple multi-tracking. However, I've seen guitarist Richard Durrant use one in concert - on a Bach piece, first played straight/looped and then again with a slide on the classical guitar! Amazing. A local singer near me also used one for a concert - looping her voice about 4 times - also effective. Best not overdone though... :-)
I have not heard of loopers before but it appears that you can play a track (loop) and then it plays automatically and you can play over it. In other words Will could play his excellent version of Smokestack by recording the bass and then play rythmm followed by lead. Problem could be, if you do not like one of the loops you cannot change it, you would have to start again.
Thanks Will I appreiate the imput. I think I`ll splurge and give it ago...I do think it will help me improve. Make me think in different directions! Well hopefully
Nice to hear things like this. Fingerpicking blues on an electric guitar is not so common. Lightning Hopkins did some great electric stuff during his last years. I do things like this too, but not here on Youtube. Well done, later on you might hear me playing something like this.
Very good !!! Do you have the tabs, please???

Is that right?

Loopers can be tricky things - particularly when changing instruments, and even more particularly when then trying to record the complex loop...
