I probably replied to this already a long time ago but these sounds bring back so many memories of entering Yankee Stadium. Just after batting practice Eddie Layton would work his magic.....
Why isn't Chris at the new Stadium announcing the players and playing the organ!!!! It's as if I am listening to Bob Sheppard and Eddie Layton!!! Amaziing!!!
dude can you do this at my birthday or something? I really want to hear Bob Sheppard's and Eddie Layton's ambience at the new house just like the old one.
the yankees should hire you as the P.A. announcer and the organist. I just hope they could fit the organ in that small room.
Absolutely brilliant Chris! I felt like I was the only one who truly appreciated the sounds of Yankee Stadium back when these two legends were still alive....I used to be concerned that those guys were so old we wouldn't have those sounds once they passed! If only the Yankee brass could hire you to take over duties in the announcers booth and preserve tradition at the new stadium! Do you have a CD out of your performance or something? Thank you for sharing this!
This guy is simply awesome. This took me back. I remember hearing this even before I entered the stadium. Unfortunately, this will never be heard again. RIP Eddie, Bob and Yankee Stadium.
I closed my eyes and I was back at Yankee Stadium. I was there....1968 Bat Day, the first game my Dad took me to. I grew up in the Bronx and as a teen in the seventies I went to the Stadium often. Thank you for bringing back some of the best memories of my youth.
As soon as I heard the news about Bob I immediately thought of you Chris and how you will be the person to remind us all of why he was so loved. Your organ play and impression of Bob are not just great but almost unreal and if I had not heard it live every time I see you I wouldn't believe it. Thanks Chris for allowing us to go back in time and remember the glory days of Yankee Stadium!!!
It brings me back to the good ole days when batting practice ended Bob Shepperd would talk and then Eddie Layton would do his thing.....Now that area is a big empty lot...:(
Hello chris. I would like to know if you would be willing to record something for me. I would like to walk in to this for my upcoming wedding being that my new name will be Russo. Please respond.
wow great job! reminds me of being at the stadium in the 80s and 90s. I think I speak for all true yankee fans when i say that this new concrete piece of shit across the street has no soul
Almost brings a tear to my eye remembering sitting out in the blazing sun on July 4th, 1983 watching Dave Righetti's no hitter. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed out due to the heat so I missed the last two innings :( I refuse to go to the new stadium.
Yeah I mean look if they don't want you to make starting lineups like Bob Sheppard, they should AT LEAST hire you for the Eddie Layton impersonation. Mr. Pavia, as a Yankees fan that would love to recapture is first experience at the stadium i beg you just to call up the Yankees and show them what you got. Please?
why are you not going to yankee stadium and keeping the tradition and sound alive ....bob is 99 and not coming back ....and layton is past on ....so why not get a job for the next 50 or so years and keeping the sound the same in the bronx....p.s the new guy sucks ....im sure george would high u if u go to there and let the executives hear u
There is only one Bob Sheppard and He would Defenitley appreciate this one. You are really good at impressinating him. Could Make a Video with Bob Sheppards voice callin the Line ups for the 1955 World Series
Bob Sheppard is still alive Its not the same with out him after attending at least a ton of yankee games and his voice and Eddie Laytons organ are very memorable
Words cannot adequately express how wonderful this video makes me feel.
Chris, you're a master. I sincerely wish you were handling both of these duties at the new place. The Yankee Stadium experience hasn't been the same since Layton left!
great great great! What a trip, and to think that the Yankees have this talent in their backyard, yet they pressed through last season with a non-descript voice, canned music, and an organist who when he does play pales in comparison.
you need to make some more videos. for the people thinking the yanks should hire him... i think they want a new voice rather than someone else with sheppards voice
Funny stuff. I thought I could impersonate Mr. Sheppard pretty well, but you take the cake. Nice job on the playing as well. As many said, call the Yankees, they have to get you in there.
Can I make a request? Could you please get someone to impersonate Robert Merrill for a "Bob Sheppard/Eddie Layton/Robert Merrill Tribute," in which the Robert Merrill impersonator sings the National Anthem!
I cannot stop watching video. I can close eyes and see the grounds crew raking out the diamond and watering the infield. Too bad the Yankees had to throw away 80+ years of wonderful tradition all in the name of the half-ass Audi club, cigar bars, etc.
That's hilarious. I remember John Sterling getting so mad one night in Tampa that I thought that he was going to say f--- on the air. Proctor walked the winning run to lost the game. Memories indeed....:)
Who needs classic organ music at a ballgame anymore when you can be bombarded with rap, advertisements, pre-packaged crowd noise, and more garbage of that type.
Absolutely fantastic. I can sit here with my eyes closed and there I am back in my college days at the old place with the friendly light blue walls and crowded hallways. Score that last play 5-3 from Pagliarulo to Mattingly. Henderson leads off next inning followed by Randolph, Mattingly & Winfield.
1986 was my first game and I remember seeing Tommy John pitch against Baltimore. That 1986 team was excellent. I was 8 years old. I miss Donnie, Pags, Winfield, Rags. Great teams in the mid-80s. I miss Bob Sheppard and Eddie Layton so much. The new Stadium will never be the old Stadium.
great job...listening to this reminds me of sitting out there in the bronx on a sunny sunday afternoon eatting a hotdog and watching some good ol yankee baseball =)
Thanks , what an outstanding job !! I get goose bumps when I hear this, I remember the many times I visited the stadium as a kid, I am a Mets fan but always loved Yankee Stadium for Eddie Layton was outstanding !! Thanks Again.
Phil Rizutto, Bill White, and Frank Messer. Those are voices that I miss. Bill White had a great voice for baseball. He was the one that was calling the game at the time Bucky Dent hit that homerun in Boston back in 78. Those were great rivalries back then. That's when both teams had real men on the team. I'm a Yankee fan but congrats to Jim Rice for making the Hall Of Fame. He deserves to be in there. So does Ron Guidry, Graig Nettles, and Paul O'neil.
WOW!!! what can i say i'm speechless lol..Excellent!!! sounds just like Bob and eddie layton on top!!! can you do Mel Allen or Scooter?? or even Red Barber?? only joking..Nice trip down memory lane ..Thanks
bravo! eddie layton is no doubt tickling the heavenly ivories in appreciation. and your sheppard is perfect. he's 98 so you now sound more like him than he does.
