The actual genuine Halo film project has been cancelled a few times now. The last occured before the release of District 9. That film was made out of the previous (and what I assume must have been pre-production) budget as it was very sub-par in terms of Special and Visual FX. As to if one will ever get made, who knows... they just seem to keep throwing the idea on the table and then letting it fall to the floor again.

its coming out next year they are nearly done it says on the bee movie as they used the same technology to make some of halo (the bit to do with some people being over the other side of the world by sending it over the internet) and they had peter jackson at some big thing with a big banner of Halo movie in the backgroung if you dont believe me watch the extras on the beee movie

Yea I hate to break it to you guys but I ave worked in the major motion picture industry for 7 years now and they dont just walk away after they spend all there money it does not work that way. there has not been a film in years that has not gone over budget the film is just pushed until Microsoft decides to play ball. I have a friend that works for bungie and he says there is just so much copy write crap they decided to hold off until everything was solved.

I don't think the Halo movie will actually come out. For it to be good, the budget would be phenomenal, well over 100 million dollars. I don't believe that anyone would produce it. Even with Peter Jackson's direction, I don't think it could be done.
