Oh it was pretty bad. I forgive it though because it had aspirations of greatness. It attempts, however ineptly with inadequate budget and overabundance of campy dialogue, to tell a grand space operatic tale, which is why it is at least endearing, if not actually good.
@Unwardil I agree. Although I hate to admit it, this anime didn't have much originality but for me it was still refreshingly different from all the other recycled plots I'm seeing in anime these days....
@sweetsoulsista I agree. Sure the animation isn't the greatest in the world, hell it's Gonzo so they suck most of the time, but the anime has a badass storyline. I'm still in the beginning of the series, but it's starting to get addicting XD
23,000 viewer right on the dot, epic. I just watched the official dub of this, and I say this. Unwardil, you're voices are much more suitable to each character. You need to get into professional voice acting man.
It makes more sense if you think of it as a reference to the speech that Martin Luther King Jr gave infront of the Lincoln memorial. As to the actual number, yeah I think it's 100. That does mean that he's not making a lot of sense.
It's been a long time since I've checked out your videos unwardil. I was laughing just 4 seconds in..... Wow you couldn't have tried for 3? Jk, good job man.
"who?"... classic... oh, and my Buddha that was the largest mustache I have even SEen... oh wait, hold the phone; 2nd largest; in Black Cat there were these guys that walked and attacked people with their mustaches; perhaps they were from the Mustachia Territory?
I feel you should know that when you type in "Glass Fleet" in the search box the first thing that pops up is Glass Fleet Abridged... therefore you are, in a way, more popular that the original series, and I find that hilarious.
Nautical miles are technically three dimensional units. They change with the altitude over the Earth's surface making a nautical mile for a boat shorter than a nautical mile for a plane. It's based on the angular displacement around the Earth's circumference and is equivalent to one minute or one sixtieth of a degree. Though it is still an utterly absurd unit of measurement without a radial point of reference. But what do I know?
Smartest thing in the whole episode: "Do what I mean, not what I say!" Seriously, is there some kind of "Impose Logic on Anime Alliance" here on Youtube, and if there is, WHY AREN'T THEY STORMING THE HEADQUARTERS OF GAINAX?!
Well, I can forgive a lot in the name of good story telling... So understand on an asthetic why they can breath in space, because if they had to get into space suits all that time it wouldn't feel like the french revolution in space and if it wasn't happening on giant floating space platforms, all the background scenery would have to be something far more mundane...
But even so, the word Altitude has absolutely no relevance when navigating in three unlimited directions.
lol, the person adamwestslapdog played the voice of who's clearly not just a character that will only be used in one episode got promoted for stating how easily some of the ships couldn't possibly get away.
I'm not going to sit here and pretend that Glass Fleet is anything more than a pretty narmy space opera but I'll just say that if it's the worst anime has ever thrown at you consider yourself inordinately fortunate.
Well, sure, for a given value of explination. They never explain why people can both breath in space and... not... breath in space as the plot demands. Or why people can actually walk on those space collonies without floating off into space. Granted, it never really asks you to believe any of it is really based on reality so, I forgive it that, but it makes for fun parody.
lol. yeah. I'd presume the graviy and air is from the technology that floods the area around the colony with air in some sort of field. Given later-on the ships don't go too far, it's not too much of a stretch =/
But that breathing in space and NOT breathing really ticked me off. I agree. I guess I adapted to the shitty science :p
Yup. Like all space opera, the only real solution is to simply pretend it's not a problem.
I've got my own explination for it though which I'm not going to spoil here, but I will say it borrows heavilly from concepts invented by Douglas Adams.
thank you for mention the lack of explosive decompresion. i like the show, but everytime they flew out into space i start questioning sanity. also, this is one of the better abridged series i've seen in a way.
Yeah, you would think that, but sometimes, they do actually decompress. I'm working under the assuption that when you get close enough to a black hole, the laws of causality become somewhat elastic.
Is this for real! If so, then I will would say the best dubbing was that of Animax. They sound like my 3-year old brother reading a Shakespeare (Did I spell the name right?) book .
This, like all your other videos is a testament to the incredible writing and timing of Unwardil who has an ability to write in incredibly complicated political satire and imagery all the while spicing it with historical allusion and often significant levels of self depreciating humor.
Having Cassius614 only solidifies these traits as she seems to have a very similar style of writing and humor (similar, but still different.)
Unwardil has the incredible ability to make me watch an abridged series based on an anime i would never, EVER watch under normal circumstances. Well, I do own the Last Exile box set, but I've never watched it and am pretty sure i swiped it from Best Buy after losing a one man drinking contest.

Hay Unwardil, are you going to use Alex Rowe's voice for Creo?
Snowdrop12 2 years ago
Cleo's voice will be my imitation of Travis Willingham (The voice of Roy Mustang and of course, Cleo/Creo in the Funimation dub).
It will probably end up sounding a lot like Alex only with more emotional varriation rather than a sliding scale of annoyance against the writer.
Actually, comparing to other Last Exile voices, I imagine he will end up sounding most like Vincent, only, without the character assassination.
