People really have to realize that these new Chevrolet vehicles are nothing but rebadged Daewoo's, which are worse cars than Dodge's. The Cruze is a rebadged Daewoo Nibura, the Sonic is a rebadged Daewoo Lanos (or Aveo), and the Suzuki Kizashi (which is part owned by GM) is actually a rebadged Daewoo Leganza. Outsourcing gone wrong!!!

@toyota4life94 Yes tho it's only fair to compare to those similar in it's class like the Accent or Yaris for exp..  So does the base model SE Focus but they do offer an SE Sport Package that gives you rear discs, leather wrapped steering wheel, & a few other things. From SEL & up, discs are standard.

@Mds9608 Well, many other automakers are parting away from torque converters such as Audi, VW, Nissan (GTR), Porsche, Recently Hyundai, Mercedes, Ford, & many others. It's a much more advanced setup vs having torque converters which have been around since the 60's. Historically, part of the transmission failures & power losses with most automatic transmissions has always been linked to the torque converter.

Whats next, me hated drum brakes too? I'm all for the advances not old progression.

@acuras4ever Well, I mentioned the interior is a step up from the Cobalt which was obviously terrible. Despite this being an all around better car, it's still an half assed attempt. Competition is making better interior, more competitive engines, different body styles such as coupes & hatches. I know your directing the Focus at me but I would easily take a Civic over this anyday despite it still looking bland but at least they offer coupes, Hybrids, Natural gas, & a performance version.

the interior gets a better fit and finish no better materials but the fit and finish in this car is better than any other compact!!

it's more spacious, it's got a bigger trunk(which is the biggest in it's class), and in 2012 it will be more efficient, cause GM said that in 2012 the cruze will get 2 mpgs more in city and highway!

Holy shit, I read this car weighs 3100 pounds? No wonder I've read that the little engine in the Cruze gets unimpressive fuel economy. GM needs to put its cars on a diet- my midsize Honda Accord is a bigger car yet only weighs about the same. I've seen the car in person, and it still looks too much like the Cobalt to stand out, but it's still an attractive design.

@carguy379 i still like ford and gm but i was not impressed with their compacts once i saw them in person and got to try them out. the focus is good but its way too cramped for just about anyone to drive and the cruze is ok but it will seem dated next to the competition within a year. the american cars are way better than they used to but i think they are beginning to overhype them now

Especially the Japanese rivals. the only car that comes close is the elantra. And every review Ive seen for the focus said there was plenty of room inside. seems to me like you are nitpicking

@carguy379 ok i am not nitpicking, i seriously did not feel comfortable inside the focus at all, and i have checked out the elantra & forte and they were just as good if not better and i could actually fit inside. i have also checked out the new nissan versa and i really liked it, all it needs is a bigger engine but the rest of that car is great. tho i absolutely hate the new civic, new jetta, or current corolla.

@carguy379 im only 5ft 9 and 143 lbs and i still found it uncomfortable, i had LOTS of leg room up front but it was very tight in the hips and the shoulders for me (my arms are long for my size so i actually felt like i was too close to the steering wheel), i sat in the rear and it was way too tight for me back there to even sit for a few minutes. but yeah i agree i think american cars deserve their credit but who knows maybe the future corolla or sentra will fire back at them
