  • 6 people who watched this video were bluebottles.

  • It´s a TRAP!

  • that trap closed almost emedialtly

  • would if be ok to cut the heads off and let them grow back? mine are all messed up when i bought it the traps stay half open and are mangled....would it be possible just to cut them off and the plant will grow new ones????

  • thats why its called venus fly trap =3=

  • my plant died yester day .. :' (

  • OWNED.

  • ooo threw the neck yikes

  • it does not look as if its getting enough light...

  • imagine walking around something exploring it, then all the sudden it closes around you and your head is sticking out and you stay there til you dehydrate and die. cruel nature lol.

  • @danrichards23 Haha silly child! It didn't die of starvation! It died of being melted alive by acid!

  • How did you get the plant and its traps so HUGE?!

  • @infoseeker228 There are different types of VFT. Some are called sports, which are genetically engineered, but this variety looks like the Low Giant, or maybe the Big Vigorous.

  • FATALITY

  • @katiaterarocks agreed

  • Owned hahahahahaha

  • gotcha

  • lol when I watched this, I heard the voice from the DDR games go

    "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!~"

  • how do you get it to close so fast

  • the plant has a sort of nervous system, movement on the trap activates the nerves

  • Those things must taste awfully good inside to catch all the insects they do.

  • they do, but in reallity, its an acid, even if the bug gets out of it (rare) it dies.

  • @rerafabob I didn't know that, bob. 8-)

  • @rerafabob actually its a mix of enzymes and bacteria....

  • wooooooow the traps of your plant are hugeeeeeeee

  • the fly is like "OMFG WTF IS THIS" LOL....

  • digested to death bzzzzzzzz

  • EPIC FAIL

  • HEAD LOCK

  • Comment removed

  • wtf is that at 0:20

  • that was so awsome it looks better then those lame ass movies, that was a brave fly.

  • do those pointy "teeth" impale the bug or just move around them? because the ones on my flytrap just move around them.

  • Moves around them, they are not strong enough to puncture the carapace of most insects.

  • essentially thoughs teeth lock them in

  • wow. those things are fast!

  • yummy

  • Damm, a Jujitsu fighting dionae ending the fight with a headlock ... HOW COOL ! :)

  • WOW ITS SOOO FAST

  • Does it eat mosquitoes too..that would be sweet.

  • i hope it will....I have mosquito allergies and if this only costs 10 bucks at Home depot, this will save my ass from any mosquitro

  • join the flytrapcare . com community!!

  • nice

  • Put your finger in it!!! It doesnt hurt!!! I went to this garden centre once and stuck my finger in one it doesnt hurt it tickles!!!

  • No, don't go to a garden centre and put your finger in it. I work at a garden centre, once someone puts their finger in a trap the trap closes with nothing in it and the plant cant open it again so that trap is wasted.

  • The trap stays closed for about 3 weeks before it opens again, but it only works 2-3 times, so... yeah it's wasteful.

  • You might aswell they are so waste full like dipisco said!

  • it will kill them if u do

  • so what read dipisco's comment its true!

  • Comment removed

  • thery are not mean they are just hungry!!!=P

  • thats not a bluebotte

  • no need to cover with a dome. they are not tropical plants. they can survive with as little as 10% humidity or less.

  • the main two thing are to make sure you use distilled water and a special soil recipe (google caring for carnivorous plants)

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeurgh!

  • Ok I need to ask! I have been trying to have one of these plants for years and always kill them. I see yours is not covered. Do they need to be covered, to keep the moisture level high? Any hints? I kill them everytime!

  • lol looks exactly like the one I had when i was about 14. Same position in bedroom too! Mine never caught anything except my finger! lol

  • Ok I will make the care plain and simple. Put them in a soil mixture of 1 part peatmoss and one part perlite. Sue distilled water. Do not worry at all about humidity. If you buy it at a hardware store where its been undoubtedly growing inside you will need to acclimate it to full sun. Put it in a window that will receive sveral hours of direct sun and bright light the rest of the day. in a weel move outside for direct hot sun all day. Send me a message for any additional information. :)

  • do you have to feed them or just water them??? cuz what if there are no bugs for it to eat , will it survive off of water ???

  • Yes, if you have a good soil, the plant doesn't need bugs to eat.

  • These things are awsome. I brought one today at Bunnings Warehouse for $7.00. They are really quick. Mine caught a bee. LOL.

  • I absolutely love your venus fly trap!!!

  • PWNDED!!! WHOOO!!!

  • ey man you have to trasplant that

  • very beautifull plant!!!

  • Yes it is!

  • Carnivourous plants like flys. :)

  • no one likes flies anyway, they are biotchez

  • looks like the fly got spiked up its ass lol

  • i need a few good tips on how to rasie a healthy plant like yours...any 1 know of any as such ?

  • OWNED

  • i wish mine was as big and healthy as that one

  • OWNED

  • i see the venis fly trap lives up to its name i could use one because my screan somehow lets bugs in and its not riped

  • OWNED

  • actually this is not a mean plant its thier own way to stay alive and in the first place it is the huge beetle not bottle is the one who go inside the venus flytrap

  • I got one yesterday (my 5th) and it cost me £3.99 though they are usally £2.50.

  • is venus fly very expensive? thinking of getting one~

  • they cost at least 6£

  • I got one for £2 in B&Q. Don't feed them spiders as that killed mine.

  • the ones from B&Q suck

  • They still eat insects and are nice & cheap :)

  • I hate flys, theyre so annoying.

  • Pwned!

  • rofl his head was out lmao

  • LOL his head got squeezed xD

  • Ha! That was quick as shit. That's how fast those things are supposed to be.

  • in the backround looks like a hurricane is going on!?

  • haha the forbidden fruit was illegally tasted

  • OWNED!

  • Funny description!

  • That fly is huge.

  • Before I clicked, I thought this video was going to show someone throwing a Portuguese Man o' War into a venus fly trap...

What would happen, would the plant get stung or would the jelly get digested?

  • they don't call em fly traps for nothin!

  • the bluebottle was like "mm.. sweet... OH WTF! LET ME OUTGGHH!!! OMG! THIS BURNS MY SKIN!!!! AAAGGGGHH!"

  • thats what i call hrticultural pwnage

  • lol nice

  • xGU4RD14Nx why? you will just kill it.

they want very much water, light and dont feed them more than twice a month.

    and it can't harm you

  • how big can it be ? ... like a human ?

  • no. it doesn't grow that big but in some special conditions it can grow big enough to eat a mouse

  • i called mine dorothy

    i feed it chocolate

  • Why do you feed it chocolate? You'll only kill it...

  • ehhhhh what? that was a fly

  • I know that was a fly, I was refering to xGU4RD14Nx's comment.

  • aha okey sorry

  • i just feed mine a baby roach i found ouside XD

  • put ure finger in it the plant will eventualy die because touch the heads to much makes it die out of enrgy killing thee plant...so no dont put ure finger in unless its a wild ginourmess one that will digest ure arm but thats it

  • Anyone know what this would do if you stuck your finger in it? Would it **** up your finger?

  • looks like a horsefly but ok

  • felicitaciones de mi parte. hermosa planta. !!!!

  • Kool! I just got a VFT today and its closing VERY slowly...Any1 know wats goingg on ? -.-

  • Yeah - plant lacks energy. Give it loads of light and water and it'll speed up.

  • he just got pwned!!!

  • Feeling my last breath of life slipping away, I buzzed a buzz of pain, of agony, and of sorrow. There was no escape for me. My deepest apologies go to my wife and kids who will never get to see me again. The plants won. They truly are the superior kingdom.

  • i have one of those at home they dont need too eat to survive they only need water

  • venus flytraps live in swamps that dont have much nutrients, so they do have to eat bugs for nutrients. If u try fertilizer it will burn the roots

  • i have one of those at home they dont need too eat to survive they only need water

  • that flower is a executioner!

  • cool... I so totally want one of these things! i want to do some research on them so when I buy one, I know exactly what to do to take care of them.

  • Why does the flytrap have a green mouth?

  • All plants have green at leest some do most plants do but good question though.

  • i ####### love it when they close!

  • kwl vid ur plant must be very helthy for it 2 close so quickly m8gd vid!5*****

  • it wont like hurt you and it wont do anything.. the only way it could hurt you is if you leave your finger in there for like a month.. lol

  • when u feed them do u no how long there traps stay closed for plz?

  • The trap digests the fly then turns black and dies off, and a new one grows to replace it, at least thats how my one does it.

  • K TY

  • i think they just stay closed until the fly is totally gone .. they they reopen to catch something else...but i dont know how long it takes for the fly to like dissolve or whatever lol

  • Wow, I need more plant like this to kill the flies around my house. haha, good deal!

  • one word "OWNED" XD

  • wow amazing!!!!I need one like that

  • i need one of these in my house

  • LMAO!! hahah he got stabbed in the head!!!

  • rofl hahahaha

  • I had one a while ago and my (teenage!) friends kept poking it with pencils to see it's reaction. THey put other stuff in too, and it soon died...

but i'm getting another soon, and this time i wont let them anywhere near.

  • COOL video i have been growing carnivorous plants for a long time and i do hate hearing about those stupid teenagers killing these amazing plants!!!!!!!!

  • im liking this plant more & more!

  • I know what you mean LMAOO

im getting one soon, but i hate those comments about stupid teenagers killing them :(

I'm 15 and im serious about owning one FYI!

we're not all stupid crac heads :)

  • i wonder if they eat Spiders!

  • Aye, spiders find the remains of last week's lunch and mistake it for a quick snack - becoming the next meal of the plant.

  • buon appetito!

  • Jeeezzz, that thing closed pretty fast! Nice healthy plant you got there... wish I could get mine like that but this summers been sooooooo dry that it's growth has been stalled. No rain in 2 months here and I'm all outta rain water, I've been using distilled but for 2 plants I got through over 3 gallons a week of water.

    Anywho, great video!

  • Thanks. lol my Summer has been exactly the opposite this year - so much rain and so little sun that the outdoor plants are looking battered.

  • Die fly, die!!! Muwa, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!

  • Im getting one of those

  • They are very easy to grow. That is if you have either distilled or rain water. Leave it outside all year long, even during the winter!!! Venus flytraps are not tropical plants. They need winter a winter dormancy. I may sound harsh, but I'm trying to give growing tips so the plant doesn't die very quickly.

  • fgfgfgfgfgfgfgf :)

  • So getting one of these. Soooo many flies are gonna die cant wait.

  • Elas são mesmo fantásticas, tenho uma em casa também. Parabéns pelo flagrante!

  • after watching a few videos i want a venus fly trap

  • What about that fly's animal rights?

  • The flies animal rights go up its ass for spitting on our food each time they land on it, and tasting it with their feet.

  • Nice lobes on the traps dude

  • bigger isnt always better, because if there are parts of the insect sticking out it may disease the bristles, they will turn black and die in turn messing up that mouth!

  • Garden centres sell them cheap. If u put your finger in it'll clasp shut but will do the plant no favours as it takes a lot of its energy to do that & needs a fly in return, not a finger nail! lol. Also, large insects like moths can be a bad idea as the trap needs to shut tightly in order for the digestion phase to work properly, if the insect is too large this wont happen. Its worth looking up on these types of plant if u want yours to live more than 1 season!

  • What happens if the insect is too big? I fed my new plant an earwig, but was worrying that I'll somehow kill it if I feed it too much or feed it things that are too big.

  • were can i get one of these plants plz tell me

  • Go on google and type in cobraplant. Click onto the first result and you can buy them there.

  • thanks man

  • What happens if you stick your finger in one? XD

  • It bites :)

  • It'll try to absorb all of the nutrients from your finger :D

  • Do those things actually eat flys?

  • Yes

  • It doesn't literally chew it up and swallow it. It absorbs all of the nutrients from the fly/insect, and discards the dead body, dried up. It works well because the dead body then attracts new insects, and makes for a nice cycle :)

  • ouch that sucks... I cant wait to my venus gets that big! damn!

  • Such a wonderful plant.

  • these are cool

  • ooooooo
