Wilco left every other guitar player in the dust. Wow. And he's still going strong. No wonder Norman is still playing with him. One of the best bass players ever.
Thanks for posting this. I hadn't really listened to this band that much. I liked it so well I went out and bought most of their albums. Johnson can sure rock and Lee can blow a mean harp. Great band.
@jpsnyder A somewhat harsh comment there. It's called 'showmanship', playing live and being exciting, and is in any case an approximate reaction of the solo on the original version of this song. Do you know much Feelgood/Wilko stuff? That 'dick' continues to tour and be admired the world over for his guitar skills.
@Priapus56, for a god of fertility, you're not very rock n roll! Anger, aggression, threat, sexuality, vulnerability, fragility and every other emotion and state of being belong on a stage. Otherwise all you're left with is .... Cliff Richard. Just my opinion. (Oh and aggression is far more effective than anger in a boxing ring.)

Believe me - it don't get any better than this. They were the fore-runners of punk, but better musicians. Brilleaux's performance had that "anger" at the world that punk took up a few years later - fan-bloody-tastic
@ziggerzag101 I think that anger belongs in a boxing ring rather than in a pop song or on stage at a pop concert.... Just a personal opinion of course.
This is my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE VERSION OF "HOG" ESPECAILLY AS i WOULD BE I BE in bed LATER that night with Wilko and there was no-oe better to be in bed with. I've had 6 years of sexual ectasy. BTW Will Birch is a wannabe wanker.
yea thats how the solo goes on this song' would the band and its fans want a half hour guitar institute solo here ' the answer is NO THEY FUCKING WOULD NOT.'good stuff boys.
Your comment reminds me of the tribute payed to Lee Brilleaux by Will Birch who said Lee was such a gentleman that anything of worth was measured by the question "Would Lee Brilleaux approve of this?".
It was rejected if the answer was "NO HE FUCKING WOULDN'T!"
This is how it's done.

Why did Leo Fender invent the electric guitar?
Because one day he knew that a man called Wilko Johnson would come along and play the living shit out of it - and here's the proof!!
