I am greatly appreciative of the privilege it is to live in Canada. I must say, however, that the G20 was not our finest hour by far. After the Black Bloc assaults on Toronto, the police were given the go ahead to take the gloves off and all hell broke loose. It seems they became mad to show their authority over the crowds and peaceful demonstrators were brutally treated. I have read that many of these people are now seeking some retribution from the police,but it is all a horrible mess.

Cops have no right or power to order civilians around because they feel like it, or to make up law as they go. Problem is, if you refuse an unlawful order and the cop(s) gets violent, legally you have to just hope you survive it and lodge a complaint later. In other words, they can take away your rights when you most need them, which means that in truth, YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS. Citizens should have the right of self-defense if they are attacked, badge or no badge. Such cops should be fired.

A lot of this could have been avoided by having their meetings outside of Toronto. They didn't allow the public in, they could have just been at some military base. This was another excellent story, but I really think there has to be an understanding of exactly what is being implemented through these police state tactics where it is they get their inspiration, and why it is they think they have the right to treat supposedly free citizens like criminals.
