RUMOR: 'Modern Warfare 3 will be a CoD4 prequel'

Ah we first ran this story last year... this rumor was indeed true, it was also detailed to LA Times and Official PS3 Mag from the same known industry source. Activsion had Sledgehammer developing this game, and it was later scrapped at the same time they moved Sledgehammer to go work on MW3 with Infinity Ward. Later taking some prequel parts into the story, hence why in MW3 you revisit MW1 and MW2 in small parts.

@sapachino Remember: Infinity ward has 2 years to create new engines. This would be impossible because the new engine would suck. BF3 has had about 5-6 years to create frostbite 2. Now infinity ward cannot get more time for a better engine, because of their activision deal. IW is making a new engine, But like all other developers, they need time. Activision is forcing a game out of them every 2 years, and treyarch aswell. If this deal were to stop, Maybe we'd have the engine planned for MW2.
