@MrSenasena It was the only thing I could think of to say at the tine as it was just really quick at everything and 'BANG' was the fastest word that came along LML Thanks for watching and glad I entertained you with laughter:-)
oh grow up kids, this forms full of 12 year old bitches moaning. people buy macs because they can aford them. i have a 27 inch imac just because i like it. has a great build quality and because of Mac OS X. Thats the reason anyone buys mac, there sexy, and Mac OS X.
@Fantaztig Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed. How about you post a video response of your computer starting? iMac is not about just how fast it starts but more the whole experience :-) Have a nice day!
@Charlie7829 take your word for it but Linux needs knowledge about computer programming and I'm far too inpatient for that wash'n'go that's my kind of pc lol
@Charlie7829 Just been looking at this ubuntu (South African based) looks good but not sure if I need this on my Mac? What are you using? I am interested in other OS as long as it's not MicroSoft Windows lol
@Thermoman69691 try lucid linux 10.04 you can install it in with any boot manager or VirtualMachine as Virtualbox Vmware... Actually you dont need it but it'd be a good thing you try it out to check what im telling you out. Who knows maybe you could switch back over your OS.
@NEWRNBDAILY1 I tell you why they cost more; the hardware is built exactly to work with the OS plus the build is just sublime and will last forever and one last thing you can take it to any apple store in the world to get it fixed.
I'm gonna be getting this iMac as soon as I get the money hopefully in the next week or two, so I'm mainly getting it for the faster speed and stuff. So is this good for heavy video editing like editing HD videos and stuff?
@TheEAZYste I haven't done any HD movie editing on my iMac but I did hear of others using a firewire hard drive which runs fast and doesn't need the RAM just uses the CPU. My advice is that you will need space and loads of it! Please do check it out before you buy as HD movies are very needy indeedy. Don't rush into it take you excitement a step slower so you do get the right iMac for the job. Final cut pro seems good for HD check that out too.
@Thermoman69691 I'm actually downgrading, I had the 27 inch i7 but I had so many problems I've had to send it back for a refund. Disappointing experience given that I had a 20 inch iMac that gave me no jip whatsoever. I'm just trying to figure out how much I'll be able to get away with using integrated graphics.
@Benjomatic That is disappointig indeed sorry for your troubles. My 21.5" is so trouble free and not once got angry with it. Does my needs and has enough spec to keep me going for years:-) Yeah my iReview is silly and your get better info from another user like THEUNITS3 he seems to have a broad knowledge of Apple. Give him a try my have your answers
@DrummerGS Yeah I had great fun messing around with iMovie and making my review a little more upbeat and funny. I enjoy making my videos and YouTube is about everything including having fun to you know. Not sure if I will keep it simple as that's not my charactor and your the only one to say keep it simple. Sorry dude but iMovie has far to many sound FX for me to ignore! Thanks for comment and have a nice day
30 seconds startup time is really nothing to right home about. My old Power Mac G5 with a 10,000RPM WD Raptor hard drive would boot up in 15 seconds--and that was 6 years ago! You'd think by now, Apple could have go these iMacs to start almost instantly like a TV. :rolls eyes:
@nick540 I had two USB sticks and just started watching a film then looked on the second USB stick and wanted to see what that film played like and then saw that they both opened in separate windows. I've even tried 15 home videos and it works;-) iMac ROCKS!!!!!
Apare from the price the other off putting thing for me is the screen. It seems to glare and reflect a hell of a lot when I see reviews. But I have been having a love affair with mac since messing about with one in an Apple store.
@jonesgez This glare on the screen is only seen when nothing is displayed. Never noticed that when using my iMac that the screen glares. My iPhone has the same shiney screen and that's never bothered me either. The apple shop, what a great shop.
I still need to use windows time to time and using the new windows7 is still a big pile of wet crap next to my iMac. The waiting for things to finally load up till I can use the pc is such a waste of life. You will just enjoy using a computer again but hassle free and just free fast flowing running programmes. Just download open office for free and your need nothing else. You will regret nothing and see to why a mac costs a little more. No virus protection needed:-)
I have none of those screen issues you have mentioned my screen is ok. Is it permantly flickering? Have you anything to close to your screen like some big external speakers? Anyway it's no way normal so ask at your apple center to fix it sorry can't help anymore than that!
No my Speakers are like 4 Ft away & I don't think the Magnet effects LCD's, just CRT's anyway. I called & Got a Case #, but all the exchanges people are getting now are the same or worse. So I'm waiting till I hear some good ones are made. Thanks.
Ok been looking into this screen flicker business and it seems that quite a few have this problem. So it seems that going into the apple store with your iMac and getting them to fix it or replace it but have it tested while in the shop as getting it home and finding the new still flickers will only piss you more. Does your monitor make the high end noise to? Sorry for your problem but mine is perfect just to give you hope!
Great video. I have an 8 year old xp machine and it is really getting sluggish after years of bitrot. Now I'm wondering should I spend $1199 on the base imac 21.5" or get a windows 7 machine because I've heard good things about windows 7. Very good review and amazing computer. Just wondering how much better windows 7 is compared to xp or vista? Thanks for any insight on this.
Thanks and glad you enjoyed my iView:-) I know a few that have win7 and they rate that it's the best win OS ever! I personally will never go back to win, iMac is just so fast and smooth and so enjoyable to use and win7 looked like they have tried to copy mac a little. It's your choice at the end but do play with them both first!
Getting the iMac and leaving windows is like flying free and just enjoying the uncomplex world of sluggish windows OS and your also enjoy fantastic build quality and just the way it makes no noise! Your in for a treat and iMovie will just blow your expectations. With the transfering I had my files on cd's and USB sticks and everything just found it's place. I downloaded open office for free and this is perfect for your docs! Hope that helps a little Qwak Qwak
@vovtoons Ive been using mine since Christmas Day and I've had no problems, and definately none with my screen. I hope you sort out your screen problem out, I'd suggest booking into a Genius Bar and having someone look at it.
very good review, I like to see everyday people for everyday tasks, I am picking up one of these this week. I am tired of the "oh, well it is doesnt have 80 cores and 69 GBs of RAM so it sucks"
The dual core 3.06 iMac screams. I think this is largely due to OSX efficiency. Its actually faster than quad core windows 7 computers in benchmark tests.
It's funny I had a chat with someone on the comments and they clammed that their windows laptop can start in 10seconds???? So I asked, make a video of that and post it on YouTube(still waiting) because not even alienware could start that quick. It is really speedy and opens any program very fast and I have never heard the hard drive go mental trying. Have you tried time machine? this is great stuff but you will need an external hard drive. Thanks for watching btw:-)
10 seconds?! Really? A quad core cpu with windows 7 on a SSD drive couldnt boot in 10 seconds. I bought a Time Machine and ended up returning it so for the same price as a time machine i bought a cheap laptop. I will probably rebuy it because its slick backup with minimal effort. The 21.5 iMac 3.06 boots in about 25 seconds which is incredible by any standard.
