I enjoyed this Documentary but I feel it only scratched the surface of Jim Jones, Jonestown, and the Peoples Temple. I'm currently reading the new book 1000 Lives. I can't even put into words how horrible a person Jim Jones was and how horrifying a place Jonestown really was. If you think you know everything about Jonestown trust me you probabily don't.
Do yourself a favor and buy 1000 Lives by Julia Scheeres you won't regret it.

I don't get what's odd about having funerals for animals...? I have done for every pet I've had, especially as a kid, and same as when I would find a dead bird or something outside, and my parents would help me. Having funerals for animals is how we learn how to understand what death is as children.
They need to teach this in schools like they teach about the holocaust. Though fewer people died, this intrigued me way more than the holocaust. People need to know about this.

Religion isn't about truth, it's just a tool to get control over other people. Jonestown is an extreme example of course, but even the mainstream religions that seem harmless aren't about truth... just a bunch of people telling you how to live your life and donate more money. Threatening you with eternal damnation is their only failsafe to keep you under their spell. Eternal suffering for bad things done in a finite life, that's utter bullshit only a psychopath could come up with.

I enjoyed this Documentary but I feel it only scratched the surface of Jim Jones, Jonestown, and the Peoples Temple. I'm currently reading the new book 1000 Lives. I can't even put into words how horrible a person Jim Jones was and how horrifying a place Jonestown really was. If you think you know everything about Jonestown trust me you probabily don't.
Do yourself a favor and buy 1000 Lives by Julia Scheeres you won't regret it.

Even if they don't, they pretend,or wnt others to beleive they agree as well, and back to square 1: to have every1 wanting to be agreeable. Much larger scale but same plan @ the end. brilliant

I don't get what's odd about having funerals for animals...? I have done for every pet I've had, especially as a kid, and same as when I would find a dead bird or something outside, and my parents would help me. Having funerals for animals is how we learn how to understand what death is as children.

This is the prime example as to why I despise religion. Religion always seems to turn into either selfish manipulations used to gain power or a pyramid scheme. Sometimes both.
