In 1988 (I think) Bev & Steve shortened the name to "The Technos" The did an album "Songs for a Nervous World" In 1991 I happened upon it (cassette) in one of those $1 dollar stores. Unusual music..kinda stays with you!
I love this song. My daughter has nicked my 7" vinyl copy, and her daughter waggles around the livving room in time to the music. Many happy memories of the alternative scene in Manchester
Yes, should've been a BIG, BIG hit. Have a feeling the hairy cornflake (DLT) played it a lot on Radio 1. A fantastically talented and entertaining bunch of people around this act. They were innovative and a great live act.
Seeing this did bring a tear to my eye and more than a tingle to my spine. Wonderful.
Now I really must go and digitise all my Writz/Technos vinyl...

Anyone know if this is available to purchase anywhere? I really want a digital copy of this but at the moment only have it on vinyl and it sounds much more sped up.
There was a faster more disco type version of this song that I loved. I think it was by the "Technos". It had some guy singing "lovely" at the beginning. It is definitely the same song and the same group. I only heard the song a few times at clubs when I was 19, but it always stuck in my head. Now I have it on disc.
I had forgotten how truly minuscule that flat was - lol - perhaps someone at PWL/Pinnacle could look into releasing this on CD ... they could even recoup some of their alleged losses ...
No one important - a fan, I would like to have been able to label myself as a 'friend' - a punk turned New Romantic who worked in a radio station record library by day and fluttered around the fringes of Messers Derek Ridgers, Steven J. Harrington (sorry Sven Strange), Edward Bell, Dick Jewell, Herbert Schulz (and the rest of the Blitzers) by night ... "we all thought it was our time to change the world - not realising it was a world that, in time, changed us" P. Hammond (Space Princess) RIP
I remember them both comparing at Greenbelt, they were my idols in the early 80s

I agree that it should have had more success. But I always really seem to like quirky songs that turn into "one hit wonders".

@dmatanes This is the original version. About two years later under the name The Technos they released the faser, dancier mix.
