Holy crap. I think it's really cool that people can actually discern between a studio recording and a live recording with whatever technology was available that you could smuggle in. One of my favorite Sabbath tunes. And rendered here.....fucking mind blowing. It sends chills..............
@blacksabfan is there any live version of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath in which Ozzy sings the entire song (and by that i mean that mid section of "doom metal")?
Not to my knowledge. Supposedly back in late '73, Sabbath performed the song in concert, but no recordings exist of it from that time period. Even then, I can't tell you if he even sang the whole song.
not comparing bands but check out Queen Boston Rhapsody 75. The quality is superb and queen had a bit of umph to em. never heard sabbath play these tunes!! awesome!!
this is the best live version of the best if not second best (next to wheels of confusion/the straghtner) song ever. its amazing, thank you blacksabfan.
@blacksabfan kiss was to SABBATH in the seventies what crue was to MAIDEN in the eighties. A bunch of make-up wearing posers void of any worthwhile musical accomplishments (with the exceptions of "Parasite" and "She") vs. the greatest band of the decade.
"Master of Reality" and "Sabotage" are the blue prints for metal. Both albums still are "state of the art". Especially the A-side of "Sabotage" is absolutely genious.
I beg you blacksabfan, if there is any possibility you could get hold of some other tracks from this concert, you should upload them! Supernaut and Spiral Architecht for example, I'd love to hear a full live version of Supernaut, especially in this quality! I really dig your videos rock on ;)!
Well I'll be! This rivals the Asbury Park show both in terms of sound quality AND performance! Never thought I'd see the day! I'll have to hunt the whole thing down...
THE SUBLIMITY OF THIS & OTHER VERSIONS (BUT ESP.THIS ONE) SHOWS HOW TRULY GREAT THE SABS WERE: THIS WORK IS A MASTERPIECE THAT COMPEL RICHARD WAGNER'S
AWE. Black Sabbath invented a "genre"
but it's too bad few of the bands even try to live upto the Sabbath----they really are pomp-loaded-heavy metal muddleheads...none of those bands come 1/10th close to this song, WHEEL Lord or Void, or Symptom, etc poor Metallica all they can do is SUE THEIR OWN FANS,
Got this show about a week ago, and must say it's been great listening to this one. Kinda reminds me of the Lund quality but better (if that makes sense). Ozzy's vocal fumble in this performance keeps this particular track almost perfect as far as the live versions are concerned. Awesome recording!!!!
Another great post. This song is easily one of Sabbath's bests. A real shame it wasn't played live again in later tours. Perhaps, the rhythm section in later lineups couldn't quite nail it or the singer at the time found it difficult. Can't say I blame them, some of the vocal parts are very difficult to reproduce every night.
I'll consider posting a few more songs from this on here, but I probably won't be posting the entire gig in my blog. There's other places you can get it from, and frankly I just don't see a need.
I will consider uploading some older shows I have though to my blog.
I love sabbath and Lizzy saw both many times. Sabbath on technical ecstasy is still the only Major act I've seen which walked off and did no encore (they were booed quite savagely for that) Montrose opened up for them that tour ! Saw Sabbath with Gillan, Hughes, Martin and of course DIO. Saw Heaven & Hell twice, have met DIO twice, in his dressing room and it was about 4:20 if you know what I mean ? Have many autograped items from him.
if anyone was @ that Tech, Ex tour in Prov. please confirm the walkoff with no encore ! Saw Floyd, Zep, the Who, Stones ok ok your tired of me now....hahaha look @ my page I like much more than KISS !
Saw DIO with RAINBOW three times, DIO as a solo 8-9 times, have Doug Aldrich's autograph as well as Jimmy Bains and Simon Wright. Has crew passes when H&H played Mohegan Sun in CT.Met and have Iommi's and Butlers autographs as well.
Saw Lizzy open for Queen on Day at the races tour with Gary Moore, saw them on CHINATOWN tour in a club in Hartford, saw them(kinda) a few yrs back opening for Satriani & Purple ! Saw OZZY on Blizzard tour with Rhoads and many times since ! Why is it obvious that it was KISS that open that Aug. night in '75 where the general concensious was they were blown off the stage, and I LOVE SABBATH have EVERYTHING they ever recorded as well as LIZZY ! Whats your history ?
SAW SABBATH on Heaven & Hell tour(where Sammy Hagar opened, stayed @ the same Hotel that night the Prov. marriot, where I met Geezer @ the ice machine in his underwear, saw Hagar in the lobby and got his autograph)), Mob rules tour, LIVEEVIL etc. etc could go on all night ! Most of this happened before you were born ! I was 14 on Aug, 3rd '75 ! Your personal experiences ?
@blacksabfan kiss was to SABBATH in the seventies what crue was to MAIDEN in the eighties. A bunch of make-up wearing posers void of any worthwhile musical accomplishments (with the exceptions of "Parasite" and "She") vs. the greatest band of the decade.
Trying my best not to sound like an ass, but...eh I just gave up...
I found that out in approximately 5.6 seconds. Give or take 0.2 seconds. Oh, and that "research" was done at least 3 years ago, between a game of online mastermind and filling out a job application.
Nevermind that never once mentioned that they did a full tour with Kiss or made any statement that implies they played with them on anything besides this show, which makes your point even more irrelevant.
@blacksabfan Oh trying my best not to sound like an ass eh well it looks you gave up because you are an ass considering that i didn't say anything bad or stupid about kiss, sabbath or you in the first place and i did my research back in 2002 from the kiss alive history tour book you should check it out
Dude, I don't give a fuck about Kiss. Kiss really has nothing to do with this video.
I also don't give a fuck how many times Sabbath did or didn't play with Kiss, but if I wanted to know, it's on Seigler's Sabbath website.
Plus, if you're going to type everything as one giant assfuck of a sentence, don't even comment to me...or anywhere...just turn off your computer and throw it out the window. Please. Thanks.
You're absolutely right. Easily one of the best Sabbath live recordings possibly EVER. It may have a leg up on Asbury Park, IMHO. Definitely have to grab the rest of the show. Are you, by chance, going to post the rest, perhaps?
