In all honesty after watching the Zeitgeist videos, the part about religion (in fact a small part of the Zeitgeist videos) was in my opinion the least important part. Please notice that is just my opinion and it's a given that many people would be instantly inflamed about this part of the series. I found that the WTC and Federal Reserve/Gov't/Income Tax sections were of utmost relevance to myself and my family
Further in, the narrator says that "most scholars hold that Jesus was born in Spring." So, if the narrator is criticizing Zeitgeist for telling people things that can't be backed up, and things that require personal research, is it not absolutely hypocritical to present things in exactly the same way? And if these scholars are religious scholars as might be suspected, now their "well-respected" opinion is that Christianity has Jesus' birthday completely wrong?

Virgin also means young....my mother studied religion all four years at Christian high school and all five years at the University of Michigan. When they say the Virgin birth of Mary, people think, "She never had intercourse and she was just impregnated with Jesus through God." That phrase can also translates to, "The young birth by Mary." You tell me which one makes more sense. From my stand point, even the stories of Jesus' predecessors sound completely ridiculous...

Mattew mentions Herod’s slaughter of the innocents (Jesus born 6 BCE), while Luke mentions Joseph and Mary had traveled to Bethlehem to enroll in the census (Jesus born 1 CE) Many pagan dying and rising gods preceded these dates. The myth of Jesus (Gospels) started to materialize during the late 1st & 4th centuries CE.

Its not a scam. Basically, the connections between Egyptian and Christian mythology are pretty vague, and their are many accounts that exaggerate the connections to come to a false conclusion. The zeitgeist film is referencing such accounts... but I agree, the claims are pretty vague and unsubstantiated. But then, so is the biblical account of Jesus.

I feel so lucky that I was never programmed from childhood or self programmed with religion. I suggest that you read the book "The Jesus Mysteries" By Timothy Freke. History has been distorted by early Christians and especially the Catholic Church. Unless you look beyond what traditional college Education teaches and what you have been told. You will never learn anything. The Bible is only a fictional account of what actually happened. Failed attempt to debunk the religion part. Very misleading I may say. Jesus was born when? The infallible bibles nativity stories in the gospels condradict each other. Mattew mentions Herod’s slaughter of the innocents (Jesus born 6 BCE), while Luke mentions Joseph and Mary had traveled to Bethlehem to enroll in the census (Jesus born 1 CE) Many pagan dying and rising gods preceded these dates. The myth of Jesus (Gospels) started to materialize during the late 1st & 4th centuries CE.

It should have been intuitively obvious, without a scholarly knowledge of religion, that the first section of Zeitgeist had to be taken with a grain of salt. So what if it's not entirely accurate? Its not a scam. Basically, the connections between Egyptian and Christian mythology are pretty vague, and their are many accounts that exaggerate the connections to come to a false conclusion. The zeitgeist film is referencing such accounts... but I agree, the claims are pretty vague and unsubstantiated. But then, so is the biblical account of Jesus.
