Modify a Master Page in SharePoint Designer 2007

I edited like you did and the changes appeared on the site in the browser. But I also went ahead and changed the title and picture for branding, but now and error message shows when you load the page. The page won't load but still appears as a sub site to my other sp sites. It's only a sandbox site so no big deal, does anyone have any tips for me so I can see that site again?

does updating the master page on a site update only that site and any subsites?

how can u modify the master page so that any new sites in new site collections also pick the modified master pages?

Question. Will this change the master page that is used by the Application and it's layouts directory pages? I did the above, but when I navigate to the existing /layout/ pages the original master page is used. And I read it's not recommended to change that master page.

Hi, There are two master pages... one for Application pages and one for Site pages. You can not modify application pages and its master page. I meant this will change master page of particular site. Hope this will make sense to you.
