I just read a book about them called Same Song, Different Voices. They tell their lives It's a very good book. Thses are very decent women. I like them all. Their other family members wrote about them also. Mimi was affectionately known as Screaming Mimi. She said she was fine at rehersal, but terrified when the actual filming was going on.
Beautiful, beautiful young women who, in my short association with them, have proved to be wonderful ambassadors for the fairer sex! A constant credit to American womanhood and their chosen field of expertise! I love them all unconditionally!
These Welk shows (prior to 1970 - when it really became irrelevant with a bunch of wanna-bes) were really a class act - and the Lennons were spectacular. To think we just took it for granted with no inkling of what junk would be on TV 50 years later - 70 channels of junk, and you pay for it. Reverse evolution?.
I've always disliked this song, as the lyrics are almost sickly sweet. But I make an exception when it's sung by the "lovely little Lennon Sisters". Anything they sing is all right!
Welk fired Alice Lon after she exposed too much leg while sitting on a piano. He fired others over the years, including Natalie Nevins and Cissy King.
My, my how the our ex-Nation has been hammered since working men came home and viewed this on the idiot box, before the ventilation of JFK and the opening of our borders TV dared not go down the garbage alley of today.
@boatracer39 I think we all got that feeling Racer but I like them all it's kind of depressing thinking that the only one I'm close to age with is Mimi actually I'm 5 months older! But they are the Best all of them!
@taximan55 I 100% agree ! DeeDee is my age and Peg is two years younger. I love them all also and have since I saw them on that very first show in 1955 !!
This song is very cute. You got to love The Lennons. I remember seeing them sing this song on the Lawrence Welk in the sixties when they were a little older. I can't believe how long they have been in show business and are still singing today. That really says something about them and their talent.
Are the Lennon Sisters related to John Lennon like cousins or actual sisters?

"A TeleKlew Production". "Klew" is "Welk" spelled backward.

Love that song. My favorite version is Dean Martin's, also, Darlene Love on the Phil Spector Christmas Album.
