Basically if you have long legs and a lot of muscle you will land a stronger kick. In this mans case his body fat let him land a stronger kick. The match came down to who was faster.

Isawaki was the kyokushin champ at the time of this fight and was expected to make short work of Jean but as you can see that didn't happen .
