"easy" is not the word i'd use to describe the difficulty in playing his songs...

Elliott was a master of his craft... a lot of the people who do "covers" should just quit while they're ahead - because no one will ever perform these with the kind of soul and love and passion as Elliott Smith.

@shadrussell Not only that, they wont be able to play. For example, I've seen a few Tomorrow Tomorrow covers on youtube, and also some Condor Avenue, and Southern Belle. They Can't play it. Most of them come really really close but the strumming isn't the same, and the way he places the notes and how he plays the chords just doesnt come through. Elliott smith plays guitar unlike anyone I've ever heard. Nobody, NOBODY can play like him. His hard songs are much harder than any others ive tried.

janet is one of the greatest living drummers in the game right now. ive seen her up close in person doing her thing, and she is just a monster. technically adept as hell. there's a reason why she was asked to drum here with elliott, she's been a force in her own right in quasi, she was a genius in sleater kinney, and malkmus brought her into the jicks. love her
