He was my fave too. He didn't make it cause of the ego, attitude, insecurity and also chip on his shoulder, feelings of inferiority America couldn't relate to or accept. I'm sure of it. Otherwise, he was very talented and loveable, likeable. He should not have mentioned being bullied right off. He rubbed it in and turned people off. Everyone has been bullied. Get over it, already, obstacle he must overcome before reaching his goals. Got to realize he is all that and go on.

The reason he didn't make it is really simple. This is a competition in which you need to differentiate yourself from the original artist and be current at the same time. It's a classic song that is no longer 'current'. So when america has the top 5 guys go on, who are you going to kick out for him? Maybe Scotty who had a whole audience group to himself? doubtful. Lusk? over the top in this case made him standout. Abrams & Durbin? clearly not. McDonald? too unique. process of elimination
