The top three are a tough call and I would have to add the THING. My opinion would change depending on the age I watched them. As a kid Godzilla and the Thing terrified me. As an adult Forbidden Planet's sophisticated story and special effects were easily the best. The Day The Earth Stood Still was very sophisticated and gets second, followed by The Thing then Godzilla. Again that's my opinion and like assholes, we all got one.
Old science fiction flicks are sooo much fun! My video begins with actual footage of a real U.F.O. My videos are not for the mainstream public! Normal folks "need not apply!" All of you A.B. Normal, strange weirdos will feel right at home here! Only a few individuals have deciphered the real meaning and warning hidden in the subliminal message. The Glirkazoids want you to trust them. They want you to come to accept them! They want to serve mankind!
You missed some really great moives. The Thing (From Another World, 1951), THEM (giant ants) It, The teror from Beyond Space (to name a few) could have easily replaced Robot MOnster, Invasion of the Saucer Men and The Day the World Ended,

Dude... Optimum List! 50's Sci-Fi was the high water mark of the genre! From the high production value A-pictures, down to the silliest schlock flics... these movies were alot of fun! Pity they just can't (or won't) recapture the spirit of those old school films!
How could "20 million miles to earth" (1957) with the growing monster the Ymir and Beast from "20,000 fathoms" (1953) with good the special effects ror the time done by Ray Harryhausen, and the incredible Shrinking Man (1957), and War of the Worlds not be in top 20? They were better than Robot Monster, Devil Girl from Mars, Godzilla and some others you listed.
You've got to be kidding! I thought I was looking at the WORST list until the top ten. Then it gets better until, GODZILLA at #1. Must be an April fools joke.
My gosh. Where is "The Blob", or "Them", or "The Incredible Shrinking Man"? Or even "Attack Of The 50ft Woman". Pretty hard to make a top 20 from that great genre. I'll take a drive-in and most of the campy fun from that time any day of the week.
@ ~50% the speed of light (`93,000mps) for those inside a ship going at that velocity their 'ship-board-clocks' would seem to run 'normal' & for them it would. However to an 'outside observer' that clock would appear to run "slower" compared to the outside observer's clocks. Say, after 1-yr, shiptime they landed on Earth, it would be several yrs into Earth's future: Roughly @ 90% C 4 1 yr=~5 yrs Earth Time~
wheres the black scorpion at??? or the giant behemouth, the beast from 20000 fathoms, THEM!?!?! i know those ones in the teens arent near as good as those
You forgot the sci-fi block buster that Hollywood locked away in the archives. Some say that it was because the technology to make that film to look so realistic was not yet available at that time. The technology to make that kind of movie didn't come along until almost the 80s. Hmmmm.
@TomatoeAssassin More than 50 years does a lot to ones looks of course Patricia Neal probably wishes she could be that young again. Michael Rennie played Klatu in the Day the Earth stood still and the Keeper on an episode of Lost in Space, the remakes borrows some ideas from both.Robbie the robot from The Forbidden Planet also appeared in Lost in Space as the Robotoid.
@TomatoeAssassin So where is a picture of Lady GaGa not in staged makeup, also was it an average or just photo that turned out bad? Over the years I've had pictures of myself and some looked bad and some good so depends on clothes, lighting, hairstyle, etc. Yeah Maddonna looked good in movie Dick Tracy, and Cameron Diaz in movie the Mask but don't think either look that good in everyday life as most pictures I've seen of them didn't look that good so you might be right.

Plan 9 from Outer Space was number 10? I always thought that it was the worst movie ever made.

That last picture at the end was incredible!
That alone was worth watching.
Thanks for posting.
(Oh, and Patricia Neal wishes she looked as good as she does in that Day The Earth Stood Still poster.)

@hydrolito I wasn't talking about "again". She looked hot in the poster but she didn't look that hot in real life.
