This is one of my Classics of Classics ! ....love both versions, because I just love the song, but nothing ever rocked me like this with the reggae version at the end ( or as Jamaican musicians would call it, the "American reggae" at the end ).
Heatwave is one of the most underrated groups of all time. I grew up as a white kid in a ghetto, and am glad. I love Parliament to Pink Floyd. But the Wave kicked ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still remember my dance partner. We used to really jam off of this one. He would look for me when it came on. It was 'our' song only because we danced so well. Sometimes I wonder if he liked me? Just a thought lol. He was cute. Beautiful song, I still have this long playing version at home, somewhere.
@ffdee Where I was born and raised...Chicago. If you've never seen it or been to it, it has its reputation. Believe me : ) But it's a City that prides itself in dancing. The men particularly can be as smooth on the floor as satin...it's all about finesse and cool and never looking bad on the dance floor. One of my oldest brothers who's passed on and his friends used to take dance lessons just to ballroom dance with their wives. They were something to see and really serious : )
Hempstead, Long Beach, North Hempstead, Glen Cove, Oyster Bay, Huntington, Babylon, Smithtown, Islip, Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southampton, Southold, Shelter Island and East Hampton.
I heard this mix back in the song's heyday but unfortunately I think it was overshadowed by "Groove Line". I heard this version only about a handful of times.

I love the ''snack, crackle, pop'' sound of the record album. We used to put a penny on top of the needle arm to keep it together
