I don't understand the ending. It seems Zidane leaves Garnet, but everyone's cheering. Is it a good thing that they live unhappily ever after? I don't know about everyone else, but I always imagined Link, Mario, et cetera, actually getting the girl...
I don't know why but for some reason I get the feeling that this is a different version of Melodies of Life. The tone is much more lighter than the other versions I've heard on Youtube.

Hey the necklace Garnet dropped was given to her by Eiko right? Just clarifying. After I beat the game I saw this and I coudln't remember where the necklace exactly came from.
I used to LOVE this game, and I still do. I was like 4 the first time I played it, and it was the first game I played. <3 I would love to play it again but I dont have PS1 anymore, and you cant save it on PS2 memory cards. Also, my little brother threw disc 3 (The disc I was on) around the kitchen floor when he was about 5 when I was at school </3 So I never got to the ending and now I'm really sad.
This is the best game in the world <3 I miss playing it, it used to be what I lived for :') :'(
at the very end, where it said "The End" I sat there for over 15 minutes trying to figure out if anything was going to happen, and the whole time it was just music and "The End"

everyone always talks about how amazing the end of this game is and i totally agree, but its the beginning of this game that sets it apart i think...it really draws you in.
God, remembering those few games made me realize how much games nowadays SUCK. It's like a freaking mine that has long since run dry. maybe every now and then you'll find a gem, but all the truly great ones have long since been taken. And no matter how hard you dig, you'll never find another quite like those first gems.

@FFXGuitar I'll agree with you there. It is hard, EXTREMELY hard, to think anything's better than FF VII, but IX's ending wins by a long shot. If I'm in an extremely happy mood, I even begin to think IX might be better all around. But then I think again and realize while it's close, it doesn't quite cut it. FFIX, Legend of Dragoon, and Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits are the only games to come REMOTELY close to topping FF VII, I may add Tales of Legendia just because I love that game a lot.
@Kitsunekagee That too, there's so many awesome games from way back. But no good ones today really. It's the same stuff and even though these are older, you can judge them and current games the EXACT same way, and these will come out on top every time.

Nobuo Uematsu = King of video game music. Whoever said video gamers aren't an art should be shot. While Final Fantasy 9 isn't my favorite of the series, although I love all of them (Except the online ones) I must say that the ending is probably my favorite out of all of them. Well everything except Vivi dying, I used him whenever I had the chance but I guess it had to happen to help the overall mood. I can understand if this isn't your favorite but how can you not at least like this game?
@hoza41 That's the reason because i like this, i think... to the point of being my favourite. This is a 2D FF in 3D. The character's, the music, the story... all resemble to the clasiccs. Like Queen said, it's a kind of magic.

In my opinion final fantasy X was the best. followed by Final Fantasy 8 and 9. Final Fantasy 7 and 12 were also good. I played Final Fantasy 9 as my second one( after 8) and it was definitly that what I understand under "Fantasy RPG" perfect soundtracks, story and Characters.
If you understand the story, you can see ( 9:20 ) the fusion of Terra and Hera (which was impossible to stop, like Garland said)... so not only Vivi die at the end, if you understand what I mean...
Man, memories. This is the my first Final Fantasy which got me hooked in the whole FF franchise. I totally loved this and the ending is just outstanding.
When I finished this for the first time, I have mixed emotions sad that I finished it and happy at the same time that the ending is so awesome. Finished it for about 6 times now, and even now, when nostalgia come over me, I still play it.
Now this is the "Final Fantasy". A world born out of people's pure imagination and creativity. Oh I feel so nostalgic remembering and comparing these to all our games today.
I really don't think they should remake FFIX. If they get something wrong, or cast the wrong voice actor, thousands of fans will start sending them death threats. Its a good game, who cares about the graphics, or if you have to read the dialogue and not have it read to you like a Hooked on Phonics book. Besides, its available on the PSN.
don't make them like this anymore, shame really, would it be that bad to go back to this style for final fantasy 15? the new final fantasys ave good graphics but these one's have amazing story lines

FF9 is a lot darker and mature than people give it credit for. Sure it had those "kiddie" graphics, but that was to pay homage to the 2D ff games. (It had the same graphics as IV-VI just in 3D. But look at all the themes in the game. Death, genocide, hell Queen Brahn tried to KILL her own daughter. Vivi had to come to terms with his short life span And just listen to the Necron battle music. You can hear souls wailing in the background.
@Calamity75 I will have this game just how it is, no half assed sequal should EVER be made for this game (and thats all Square knows how to do), not that it would be anyway since it was one of the lower rated/brought FF games but still, I love FFIX just how it is, a sequal would ruin it just like X-2 ruined X.
@Someguyhere111 you are but one person, if you think that then thats fine but I know ALOT of others on differeing sites who think DoC and AC are completely crap and/or should never have been made, especially DoC and I feel the same way. DoC was a terrible game with a terrible story that was made out into a terrible shooter game and AC was a bad sequal which was made pretty just by its graphics which was all it had going for it. I will admit tho, AC was a tiny bit better then DC but not by much.
Final Fanstasy 7 didn't have as good graphics but it was definately, in my opinion of course, better than final fantasy 9, it has a better story line in my opinion.
I don't know. I didn't play 7 until later in the series, so I got a bit bored of the general save the world story line. As ff9 was my first (First game I ever played, come to think of it.), I think it got a bit of a boost in the fact it was ALL original to me.
@LogicalMadness It was the the same for me but i found it hard to relate to the characters; eg, wizards, knight, princess, bandit, in 9 and i'm not a big fan of middle aged type stuff. I liked 7 because it was more to our time and it was something that was closer to reality with technology playing in major factors of abilities than just some how having magic in 9 was. And i just didn't like the fact that the boss was random and you could never improve on an ability but only learn it.
Guys, stop watching the version with completely the wrong pitch, go find the correct version of the ending that actually has the right pitch and tone.
Rinoa ,Tifa and Garnet All looked alike. But they made tIfa's B00bs Large enough to feed 10 children.Rinoa was so Cute when she is smiling. You couldnt miss her Sweet Eyes. Garnet looks like an Anime-ISH barbie Doll.

Tifa was that way because of limitation of the time. ( for Nomura, she looks like Rinoa ) Garnet is one of Amano`s work. ( look his works of FFVI and FFIV and you ll have surprise ;) )

How gay this game was to have a random final boss. They should have just gave kuja all those powers or made him transform or something, so much they could have done for kuja as a final boss.
Necron was absolutely not random, you misunderstood it. FFIX couldn't have ended without a triumph on death, that was the purpose of Necron. Some people also think he was created by Garland for some reasons (like lifa) but this isn't sure.
Kuja is my favourite character of all time but he can't be the final boss (moreover he's too easy to beat XD)
especially when you use tent on him :) the ending was differently old school final fantasy as many people fail to see with is why they brought back Yoshitaka Amano as the character designer
it is sad...but what do you expect...for the true FFier... 9 was awesome...it took elements from the previous games and made a great combination.
yeah tent was a great weapon to throw on bosses...causes blind, poison, and silence i think...but it has a higher chance to fully heal the enemy instead which is why you do it at the beginning ;) i wish i still had my old FF games... :(
Actually, I believe Necron is the spiritual form of the Lifa Tree. If you remember, Garland said that there was a powerful spiritual form that was blocking the souls and helping him with his master plan. When Kuja killed the party with Ultimate, they were in the presence of Necron. This leads me to believe that Necron was the spiritual form of Soul Cage that was blocking the souls. Also, Garland flat out said, "You only encountered the Lifa Tree's physical form." This means there's another form.

Hyah! This is my most favorite FF ever! It was my first FF, AND the first PS1 game I ever played and will always be the best. I do want more of this game but I think it's good that they left it at that ending. Because they always screw up if they added more. <_< Somehow, like FF10 having a continuation 10-2, it kinda ruined the mood. Or like FF7 having so many prequels and stuff. I think FF9 is just safe. Also, FF9 and FF10 has the best music themes ever!

I really don't think they should remake FFIX. If they get something wrong, or cast the wrong voice actor, thousands of fans will start sending them death threats. Its a good game, who cares about the graphics, or if you have to read the dialogue and not have it read to you like a Hooked on Phonics book. Besides, its available on the PSN.

@Dsurvivor21stCentury I always suppose that one year has passed, and everybody's reunited again for Garnet's 17th birthday, with the same play that was played at her 16th birthday ... Her hair has grown long, and I think that it is said somewhere at the end of the game that it's her 17th birthday ... But I can't remember where.

I go with reinakishimoto. FF9 is my favourite one! I loved it a lot, and will always love it! Too bad my 3rd CD freezes in the video when Alexander gets killed by the Invincible... Love that game!

FF9 is a lot darker and mature than people give it credit for. Sure it had those "kiddie" graphics, but that was to pay homage to the 2D ff games. (It had the same graphics as IV-VI just in 3D. But look at all the themes in the game. Death, genocide, hell Queen Brahn tried to KILL her own daughter. Vivi had to come to terms with his short life span And just listen to the Necron battle music. You can hear souls wailing in the background.

@Calamity75 I will have this game just how it is, no half assed sequal should EVER be made for this game (and thats all Square knows how to do), not that it would be anyway since it was one of the lower rated/brought FF games but still, I love FFIX just how it is, a sequal would ruin it just like X-2 ruined X.

@Someguyhere111 you are but one person, if you think that then thats fine but I know ALOT of others on differeing sites who think DoC and AC are completely crap and/or should never have been made, especially DoC and I feel the same way. DoC was a terrible game with a terrible story that was made out into a terrible shooter game and AC was a bad sequal which was made pretty just by its graphics which was all it had going for it. I will admit tho, AC was a tiny bit better then DC but not by much.

Final Fanstasy 7 didn't have as good graphics but it was definately, in my opinion of course, better than final fantasy 9, it has a better story line in my opinion.

I don't know. I didn't play 7 until later in the series, so I got a bit bored of the general save the world story line. As ff9 was my first (First game I ever played, come to think of it.), I think it got a bit of a boost in the fact it was ALL original to me.

@LogicalMadness It was the the same for me but i found it hard to relate to the characters; eg, wizards, knight, princess, bandit, in 9 and i'm not a big fan of middle aged type stuff. I liked 7 because it was more to our time and it was something that was closer to reality with technology playing in major factors of abilities than just some how having magic in 9 was. And i just didn't like the fact that the boss was random and you could never improve on an ability but only learn it.

Rinoa ,Tifa and Garnet All looked alike. But they made tIfa's B00bs Large enough to feed 10 children.Rinoa was so Cute when she is smiling. You couldnt miss her Sweet Eyes. Garnet looks like an Anime-ISH barbie Doll.
For me Rinoa is the best Next Garnet and Tifa(She is too Overrated and sexy to be a Female character)

Tifa was that way because of limitation of the time. ( for Nomura, she looks like Rinoa ) Garnet is one of Amano`s work. ( look his works of FFVI and FFIV and you ll have surprise ;) )

How gay this game was to have a random final boss. They should have just gave kuja all those powers or made him transform or something, so much they could have done for kuja as a final boss.

Necron was absolutely not random, you misunderstood it. FFIX couldn't have ended without a triumph on death, that was the purpose of Necron. Some people also think he was created by Garland for some reasons (like lifa) but this isn't sure.
Kuja is my favourite character of all time but he can't be the final boss (moreover he's too easy to beat XD)

it is sad...but what do you expect...for the true FFier... 9 was awesome...it took elements from the previous games and made a great combination.
yeah tent was a great weapon to throw on bosses...causes blind, poison, and silence i think...but it has a higher chance to fully heal the enemy instead which is why you do it at the beginning ;) i wish i still had my old FF games... :(

Actually, I believe Necron is the spiritual form of the Lifa Tree. If you remember, Garland said that there was a powerful spiritual form that was blocking the souls and helping him with his master plan. When Kuja killed the party with Ultimate, they were in the presence of Necron. This leads me to believe that Necron was the spiritual form of Soul Cage that was blocking the souls. Also, Garland flat out said, "You only encountered the Lifa Tree's physical form." This means there's another form.

Hyah! This is my most favorite FF ever! It was my first FF, AND the first PS1 game I ever played and will always be the best. I do want more of this game but I think it's good that they left it at that ending. Because they always screw up if they added more. <_< Somehow, like FF10 having a continuation 10-2, it kinda ruined the mood. Or like FF7 having so many prequels and stuff. I think FF9 is just safe. Also, FF9 and FF10 has the best music themes ever!
