This symmetrics of how the puppets were used is fascinating.

As a puppeter I am always interested to see people making them believable to a large or mid degree.

The voices on the other hand, name of the characters and opening theme song was just....Shitty, to say the least.

Nothing will EVER beat Jim Henson' puppetry though.

That is because of the way it was represented. Not because of the quality it lacks. The presentation was horrible and so was the DUB voice's which mad the series a joke. But if you were to see it in the current state you may just change your mind. :-)

I remember this show! It is not all that bad! Because I did see the chinese verison of this show! Beside we are missing this greatest chinese puppet show of all time! This is something that we never seen before on an American TV. This show is very cool and it has very different sagas. Pili has been popular from the 80's. If you ever notice that.

It's actually popular in Taiwan, but that's probably due to them not messing the script up and having the show make sense (Scar is supposed to be mute, but he talks frequently in the English version)
