Great introduction into Netflow. It is a valuable tool for any admin who needs to know what and what is consuming your bandwidth. One point that I would like to make is that you CAN get netflow comparable flow in you low end (Linksys etc . . ) routers.

the "routers" you buy from best buy or elsewhere are not routers, all they do is PAT, they dont route traffic. Its basically a switch with firewall and PAT capability. UNless you use ddwrt then you have additional options. You cant compare a cisco router with a measly little liksys device...

netflow, could this be used by ISP's to monitor what you're doing...like bit torrent? and targeted advertising I know it wouldn't be legal for them to do this but the MPAA are pushing to get the privacy laws changes so they can eavesdrop on what where doing and throttle our traffic... this software you're talking about sound like it could be dangerous if it got into the wrong hands...
