wtf is wrong with people? schizo? REALLY? hey, v sauce sent me here and im glad it did because youre a genius. i was wondering the same thing! the thinking voice has no words, it just sends intention that way theres no barrier of "meaning". its an impulse thats just felt with the meaning in it. i totally get it man... you have a brilliant mind, don't let the sheep talk you into otherwise.
With a plant McKenna reached an 'animated stage' on the rim of thinking. He made fine speeches about his mental journeys: especial in connection with language. Your fine speech is (was!) more sober.
Isn't ironic how the lovable angry doggy talks without words in his own soundbites with commands embedded?
In talking state of domesticating words you breaking down the outside bricks and bars of your own inner home on the self-fulfilling stoic surface as a silent space in thoughtful face.
As far as words destroying the meaning of thought, don't forget that just because someone says something doesn't mean that's what they're thinking/meaning, and that's clear when you hear their inflection, see their expression. To revert to non-thinking would make us empty-headed babies all over again. Babies/children long to learn words so they can know what something is, communicate/express themselves. They're just more honest than us because we fear others knowing our thoughts. Think on!
Hey! If you are asking yourself all these questions are your age....then you should try some meditation ....you will be surprised on how much more knowledge you will gain by doing this...(but try it on your own) and see what happens :) or maybe reading on quantum physics will interest you...
And NO, you are not schizophrenic...trust me...I know this ´cause I have a close relative that has it.....as for the dog...I think he was just trying to tell you that he has a good talking voice! :)
idk I think a big part of the problem is people not realizing how broad a word is and thinking of a specific thing instead of leaving it as broad as the word was intended
I'm really getting into your stuff.... I love the cds.. but I have to ask you this one thing... are you diagnosed schitzophrenic? this video makes me wonder this.
@Banged147Chicks hey thanks a lot for digging into my work and for the kind words regarding it. as for the question, i've read a couple books on schizophrenia, and i believe all people show some symptoms of most "mental illness'' at varying degrees. i think environmental stress influences how severe these symptoms can become. i haven't been diagnosed with anything - although the diagnostic criteria for mental illness changes every year.
@MicahBuzan very, very true. hey, when's your next album coming out? i purposely didn't purchase your first album so i have something to listen to in time, but i do enjoy the direction you are heading with word salad. i may be your biggest fan by a few months. my brother and i have a band and so i can appreciate the time and energy you have put into your albums. in fact, most people take music for granted (especially non musicians)... good luck, my friend.... -russ
heard of Malidoma Some? Do a search oh his name at youtube. I love his Dagara tradition that sees trees and vegetatyion as the most intelligent (because they dont use words), then animals, with us straggling behind lol
I like i said in pm about writing, you made me did in this video how TALKING is one word at a time isn't it?
What is singing? That is the morphing of this linear talky talky mode, you can bend words, elongate, and morph into chant, and all manner of sounds
@zezt 2--talking on a psychedelic trip is ALWAYS surreal and has me giggling, because you become so aware of TONE. Not only of your voice but others and tone conveys meaning. Plus you find you cannot possibly communicate what your feeling with words haha---with song and chant yeahh
I think this cell phone technology keeps people in the chity chatty semantic reality. you see them in beautiful places chatting shite to the little plastic piece stuck to their ear. they CLING to that.
Basically, what u say is a reflection of what u think...IF u think before u speak. 1 only depends on words when relating to other people. Without words, one cannot express their thoughts. Its always good to think MORE than to speak but without expression thought is less potent.
You seem to contradict yourself at one point howover: "words cannot tell us the truth because they are based on perceptions." But are not our thoughts based on perceptions and conceptions? All this is to say that perhaps words should be too discredited, however I agree with most of what you are saying.
It's been a while. I find your insights to be really refreshing.
"we've become far too dependent on the talking voice. and the talking voice can't tell you who you are. No one can tell you who you are. No one knows except for you."
Could it also be that the talking voice has extended to other forms of communication such as internet, texting and online communication forms, all of which are misperceived as giving one identity or even having that identity for all the world to
an even more basic example of the thinking voice; love. can words possibly describe love? there are so many emotions and feelings..that words cannot describe. to take this on a bigger scale, what ARE "emotions" and "feelings"? people perceive those two words very differently. yes, we cry, we laugh, we get angry..but are those "feelings"? or merely reactions to certain "things"? the essence of abstract art, defines communication. it's abstract because we communicate.
interesting vlog - Another thought accurred to me -sign language as used by deaf people uses concepts and ideas to convey information to others, so in a way is much more efficient and effective than the spoken word. By the way I notice that you have become much more skilled in your use of words, which I believe was partly why you began doing these vlogs.
ok, ok, i won't let this be my whole comment. I'm glad i have this behind me - the questioning of the words and how limited we are through them. It's very true. Very seldom i found written words, by masters of the word, that meant more than was written and still were clear.
I'm afraid (?) the inner voice can be questioned out of similar reasons and with the same consequences. Charles Bukowski was asked why there are less geniuses statistically today: "Communication"
You may think I'm cracked...but I think 'thought speed' is quicker than 'light speed'...but enuff of that........That's the trouble wiv senscience...you can't shut up the voice of conscience...ever read 'Word Virus' by William Burroughs?...I'm sure telepathy is on it's way...we're showing signs of it...just a pity we won't be around to manipulate it fully...and...you're right......language has complicated wot is actually very simple...but I ain't gonna lose any sleep over it...good points, mate!
Wow, what a DEEP video- I honestly couldn't comprehend all of it in one viewing! I guess my mind is too busy day dreaming in 'words' inside my head - ha, but anyways I liked it! You are very intelligent. My thoughts on this matter are that our mindset is kinda like the radio frequency we let off to the world...and that it's every human's desire to feel accepted in the world in some fashion which pushes a lot of us to conform to trends and such... My motto is ... Be the trendsetter of today.
True. We either direct our thinking, or we let our thoughts direct us. We have all been programmed and this programming creates much thoughts in our head. Most people simply follow it and accept it as "who they are". Instead of looking at the thoughts, in self honesty, see where they come from and what they imply and have as effect, and then directing oneself not based on the programmed pop up thoughts.
It is an art and a science using words to translate conscious thought. There is so much ambiguity with words, it is difficult to always convey a succinct and precise translation...
If words had a shape and a scent and a weight to go along with the sound... they would perform an unmistakable dance of profound meaning.
P.S.
I wonder if the little Shih Tzu knows the Art of War by Sun Tzu?

this was an extremely thought-provoking vlog.
i love thinking about things like this.
i noticed that you were walking throughout the video;
walking usually helps me talk "better" & think more clearly.
the other day, i was thinking about how in my head, i hear my thinking voice as my actual voice as im thinking.
so this is actually pretty relevant to me.
