I refuse to have another catheter put in me. It took two nurses to insert it and had me in tears! They were rough and cocky with me. Fuck a damn catheter.

I worked in a small no-name hospital. I tried to insert Folley once and really not like that. I had sterile gloves (usually nurses here don't use them, they use non-sterile) but I didn't have this nice set for thisI did it well without this equipment and I can be proud of myself. Btw We don't use Mesocain and patient didn't feel any pain.

you totally crossed the sterile feild, didnt warn patient that the prep would be cold and you cant tell the patient you will feel pressure but she will be alright rather you tell them you will feel pressure try to bear down as though she wants to urinate but if she is unable to stand the pain/pressure let you know so you can stop the procedure though it will have to been done at a later time maybe with a mild anesthtic or something all the same Good Job!

Wow, this was the absolutely worst demonstration of inserting a foley catheter that i have ever seen, crossed sterile field when cleansing, put sterile gloves on after droping fenistrated drape instead of before and contaminated them while putting them on. didnt tug after inserting fole to ensure placement. I can go on and on...

This hurts SOOOOOOOO bad i Just got out of the emergency room like 30 min ago and they did this cuz they cant have you pee regularly while your on your period cuz the blood messes everything up and it HURTS!!!!!!!AMAZINGLY BAD!!!And guys yours will hurt even more!!!dont go to the hospital drunk and stupid but at least pee for them cuz thats one of the only reasons they will do it to a guy because he wont pee cuz hes drunk but there are more reasons to do it tho

wearing mask for cath.insertion is not necessary and you shouldn't talk with the patient with the mask on unless there in a certain precaution; its disrespecting the patient's dignity in other words, demoralizing the patient.

Remember when opening sterile gloves if the paper flips back onto the gloves u have contaminated your sterile gloves and u need a new pair. Nice technique hope this helps.

Remember to place and fix bag tube conection UNDER patients leg, not over it, so later it doesn´t bother him.

we (in the netherlands, but it diffrents from hospital) aren't that rocketscientists LOL we aren't using mouthcaps or those yellow things, we wash our hands then go to the patient and tell them what you're going to do. and then you wet the whole catheter and without the bagtube already on you insert the catheter by holding it rolled in your hand. it's a bit difficult to learn but if you can do it it's much easyer than this

crossed sterile field 4 times, contaminating it; did not inflate ballon completely during test, didn't tell Pt to expect some coldness prior to peri care, incorrect taping method [landmark is right but you don't tape straight over it], and you taped the hard tubing to the leg [major no no - causes friction] you're supposed to tape the soft part of the tube ONLY. hope this helps

What's the "landmark" you're referring to? How could the taping be improved? And in the case of a male, it must be okay to tape the hard part of the tubing since most of the catheter would be inside?

I had an "in and out" catheter to check to see if I had diabetes. I dont know why they made such painful thingys. A pee hole(lol) shouldnt have anything go in it. But I guess its for the best.

you used non sterile gloves to set up the waterproof pad and the drape therefore contaminating the sterile field. The sterile gloves need to be out first by just touching the package their in and then put them on and set up the rest therefore not contaiminating the sterile field.
