@whatelse123 It probably *should* be, but i typically see things in terms of capturing photos and videos. And grabbing the camera and recording all happened on my way out, so it's not like i wasted any time getting outside.
@miahz : my comment should have been something of an ironical question. didn't want to offend you or you to take my question too serious. I am glad you could tape it :D
at my house all of us ran out side and our nabors aksed us why and we said didnt u just feel that! and they said yeah it is just an earthquake like he was all ok with it and then he said go back in side. when i said no he was like oh and took his little 3 month old baby back in side. latter we fount out it was a 5.9 earthquake and the best thing to do was to stay out side
I was recovering from jet lag and my mom and I ran out in our PJ's LOL.
The deal with this earthquake people is that it lasted for 3 mins. or more in some areas. The Madrid Fault is the worst fault in the US. You in CA have the most active faults. Once that Madrid decides to go you people will see what I am talking about.
Hey ok they are people that have felt stronger earthquakes but they are some that don`t and they don`t know the feling about that every time and thats why they get scare not everybody is brave...
Come stay out here with us in Southern California 5.9 really isnt that bad out here its moderate. Ive been through atleast 7 big ones. The biggest out of those 7 was the landers quake 6/28/92 7.6.
OK, the liquid in the jar is shaking, I get it. But where is the footage of the people on your street screaming bloody murder and crying histerically? That's what I'd like to see...
@givepropstotherich I was visiting Ground Zero in NYC when this happened and it wasn't nearly this strong, but it was strong enough to scare the crap out of a lot of people. This must have been close to the epicenter.
@b5150b2012 haha i do know how to spell dumb ass i just dont want to spell the whole word out stupid bitch. and ok??? why would u say that if u dont know how to write, and can u explain ur self a lil better couse ur fucking stupid af..."WANT TO TALK EXAGGERATION LOOK HOW THE WEST COAST ACTED WHEN THEY SEEN A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW "??? wtf did u try to tell me couse i didnt understand shit.
Wow, that was something! I'm on Long Island and was on the second floor of my 115 year old house that had suffered two major fires over the years. I thought the quake was just my house and that it was collapsing.
I felt it and NC I actually thought for a moment my neighbors next door fell in hit the wall seriously I really did. Then I turn on news something about earthquake in Virginia felt over 15 states, If that's how it looks/ feels I'll hate to be closer to Virginia I was home alone I just sat there and watch the house shake next time I'll grab my camera and film you just never know these things. just like I didn't know Irene was going to do a big mess and my city.
so i know for a fact that im closer to the epicenter then you are and the quake wasnt that bad for me man. i sware im not calling you a lier im just sayin.
@miahz back here in the west coast the quakes are not felt from long distances because this part of the u.s is very mountainous nd the soild rock is not that old like in the east. but quakes r felt very strong because it doest spread far here in the west
@miahz back here in the west coast the quakes are not felt from long distances because this part of the u.s is very mountainous nd the soild rock is not that old like in the east. but quakes r felt very strong because it doest spread far
I love how people call that lame.We live in a area where we get no Earthquakes homes are not prepared for this.A 5.8 is a large Quake here, and it could have been alot worse.
@bobzzz23 i knoo its not normal for an earthquake to happen there but it was to much exageration for just 1 simple quake.
@miahz ok??? have u been in a huge quake, no so why lamee? nd yes i used to live in mexico city, my parents and the rest of my family were actualy on the 1985 mexico quake which destroid half of tha city.
@jose68967 come on !! does it really matter who has been in which earthquake??? I live in CA and I'm used to these and more powerful earthquakes ... or a chilean can come and say the same about your family being at 85 mexico earthquake cause they experienced an 8.8....
@jose68967 Clearly, the quake was significant, which is why we are all talking about it. The last time there was a quake of this magnitude in Virginia was 114 years ago. And this "1 simple quake" was felt from Atlanta to Canada. Even West Coast quakes aren't like that. So no, it isn't exaggeration.
@jose68967 although to you it is just one earthquake having one in the east coast is pretty damn scary, and for that magnitude to arise is pretty scary aswell, yeah sure mexico and cali have more seismic activity but thats just because we are literally sitting on top of a damn fault and virginia is not
@jose68967 NOT REALLY WHEN ON THE EAST COAST WE DONT HAVE BUILDING CODES LIKE ON THE WEST...WANT TO TALK EXAGGERATION LOOK HOW THE WEST COAST ACTED WHEN THEY SEEN A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW PS LEARN TO SPELL ASSHOLE
@jose68967 A 5.9 isnt exaggeration its a moderate quake but still intense if you live in the epicenter of it. I grew up all my life LA and most of Southern California I think you would be crying if you went through what we do here. The biggest I ever felt was a the Landers quake in 1992 7.4 now try and go through that.
@jose68967 you probably did have 7.2 earthquakes because you live in the west coast. this is the east coast. the west coast gets like so many earthquakes. the east coast doesn't.
Great video! I'm also in Woodbridge and that's exactly how it was at my house! I've never felt anything like it, I'm still pretty freaked out about it ;0) Watching it over and over in youtube videos probably doesn't help, lol.
@lacadams It was mainly books and things that were loosely sitting on shelves or on lighter furniture that swayed during the quake. There were also some big wall-hanging mirrors that fell off the wall.
@dicf21 My brother is a tech at a car dealer in Fredericksburg. He said the lifts with cars up on them in the shop were swaying back and forth, even though it is on a big slab. And metal street light poles in the parking lot were swaying.
I think he over exaggerated it a bit. It was not that serious of an earth quake, at all.
