  • I got my connection and key right, I even checked the router, but it isn't connecting. Basically I HAVE to have the USB router? I have no idea what I'm doing here, other than what the video shows.

  • i have a serious question, please answer :

The Wi-Fi Conector is not included when you buy the Wii ,or?

    How expensive is it?

Does it work with windows 7?

    Please response.

  • whats the usb connectors range. see my computer and wii are on different stories.

  • I'm not sure if it will have the necessary range. What I might suggest is a strong Wi-Fi router.

  • oh and where do you get the cd?

  • The CD for the Wi-Fi Connector comes with the connector. Unfortunately, it's been discontinued. The CD for the capture card comes in the box.

  • what dou have to have the wii connected to your computer?

  • You'll need a capture card. Check How To Record Video Game Footage To Your Computer for a quick explanation.

  • and where do you get a usb like that that's not from the nintendo store coz it doesn't exist in gamestop...:(

  • It actually is on the Nintendo Online Store, but it says that it has been discontinued until further notice. I think Nintendo might have felt that most people have wireless routers these days.

  • would this work on windows 2000?

  • Not sure about Windows 2000. Currently, the latest software is only 100% confirmed for XP and Vista.

  • where can u find the wep key

  • The WEP Key can be found by accessing your wireless router through your browser on your computer.

  • and how to we access our wireless router? put an address in the address bar? or...?

  • Yep. Instead of putting in a website, just type in the router's IP address and log in using the information you set it up with. From there, go to the wireless settings and find the WEP key paraphrase and full key.

I'd suggest writing both down just in case the paraphrase doesn't work. Also, the last time I checked, the Wii only works with the first full key, so if you're set to another one, change it to the first.

  • I have a question and I hope u can answer back fast. I have a router and when my ds searches for it,it finds it. so I enter the WEP code and it starts a connection test.its all green at first and then it goes all red and says unable 2 connect, what am I doing wrong?

  • Last I checked, you need to input the full first WEP key. It won't work with the paraphrase.

  • I do though and it starts the connection test,it never says that the code is wrong or anything, see,my computer has a virus and the router is not connected to the computer. My ds tests the connection and it has all the bars up with green, then it turns all red and loses it

  • That's a bit odd. You may want to consider changing your WEP key and router password, just for safety's sake.

I find it a bit weird that it finds it and can connect right up until the connection test.

  • how can u change the WEP code?

  • Log into your router via your computer might want to get rid of that virus first. Then go to the wireless security section and change the key..

  • Just a question. Can a DS serve as an access point or is it able to test your connection to a wii? All the access points that are close to my wii are red and locked(wifi sucks around here) is there anything i could do?

  • Sorry, a DS won't serve as a viable access point for a Wii. Not sure how to help you out aside from suggesting that you buy a Nintendo USB Wi-Fi Connector if they are available at your local video game retailer.

  • Where did you get that nintedo wifi cd and that wifi usb connector?

  • Nintendo lent it to us for the video.

  • do you need wifi set up on your computer also? or does the USB adapter already do that? also, does this work with a mac?

  • If you don't already have wireless in your home, you need the USB Wi-Fi Connector. If you do have wireless, you only need to set it up on your Wii (unless you have to give access permission to new wireless devices).

It is still not Mac compatible.

  • If you don't already have wireless in your home, you need the USB Wi-Fi Connector. If you do have wireless, you only need to set it up on your Wii, unless you have to give access permission to new wireless devices.

    It's still not Mac compatible.

  • can you plug a router in to the back of your wii? would that ruin your consuleor could you do that, cause for some reason my connection to the internet ( witch used to be always 3 green bars ) in now one, and i even tryed putting the router thing tht sends the internet signal right next to my wii and it still didnt work, please reply soon, pce

  • Last I checked, there is no Ethernet port on the back of the Wii anyway, so it would be a bit hard to do that. If you wanted to use one of the USB Ethernet adapters, it should work just fine.

In other words, yes, you can, but only with an Ethernet adapter.

  • yea, i deleted the program last year and updated a new one for windows vista last month, and when i tried it it showed my wii on the screen but it wouldnt connect

  • If you're saying that it has worked for a year and has just stopped working now, you may want to try re-installing the program once more and resetting all of the Wireless settings on for that connection on your Wii. This should give it a fresh start.

If it still doesn't work, I'd call Nintendo support.

  • my wii said its not connecting to the wifi connector/internet. help please, thanx

  • I'll need a little more information. Did you make sure that the Connector was properly installed and that you told it to allow your Wii to connect?

  • what does wifi do does it connect the internet what does it do

  • Wi-Fi does allow you to connect to the Internet. Wii Wi-Fi specifically allows you to play online, download Virtual Console games, and more.

  • Does this cost any money to do this?

  • Not if you've already got a Wii and a wireless router.

  • i have a wireless router and it my wii isn't able to pick up the connection.

  • If your Wii isn't picking up your router as an access point, it might not be within range. How far away is it?

  • about 6 or 7 feet

  • If proximity isn't the issue, then you'll need to double check how you're searching for the router.

If you're already using the Search for an access point option and it's not finding anything, but all of your other wireless devices are connecting, then there may be an issue with the Wii's wireless card.

If you have the ability to take the Wii somewhere else, like a friend's place, and set it up there to test out the wireless, then I'd suggest doing so.

  • If proximity isn't the issue and you can't manage to find it by searching for access points, there may be an issue with your Wii's wireless card.

You might want to try and take your Wii to a friend's place and see if you can find a wireless access point there.

  • uhm where do i get my wep thing?

  • The WEP key is like a password for your router. If you haven't set one up, it won't be active and your router won't be fully secure. If you have set it up and simply don't remember it, open your Internet browser and type in the IP address for your router and log in.

Once you've logged into your router, go to the wireless security settings, under wireless settings, and check what the WEP key is.

  • already got wifi on my ds and wii and no wep code but thanks

  • Sorry I couldn't be of help.

  • anyone can please answer this....if i do the wii internet wifi connector and plug it all into my internet on my computer will it add anything extra to my internet bill?...also if i do get it connected will i then be able to play Call of Duty:World at War online?...Please anyone if you have an answer please right back A.S.A.P

  • Using a Wi-Fi connector will not add anything to your Internet bill. It's your own personal unit within your house for connecting your own wireless devices.

As far as the other question goes, the game has to be online compatible in order to play online. Pretty simple.

  • hello, i cant find an access point, what should i do??

  • If you don't have a wireless router or any wireless connection, you won't find one. You need a wireless router or the Wi-Fi Connector.

  • my wii and DS wifi was working perfectly before christmas and now we have a digital cable box instaled on the same tv as the wii and now none of my wifi works what should i do?

  • That sounds like quite the issue. Not too sure what to make of that. You might want to call the cable company.

  • ok thanks ile give that a try

  • and what the SSID?

  • The SSID is the name you gave your wireless router, if you have one.

  • do you need to buy anything seperate from the wii?

  • Not if you've already got a wireless connection.

  • thank you thx! Your the best person who could actually show and tell how to set up the wifi to your wii! thank you a lot! Don't worry I subscribed to you and 5* and faved! Thank you so much!

  • Thank you for that!

  • this really helped! =) thanks

  • Glad to help.

  • hey, I was wanting to know if the computer with the internet connection needed to be kept on while you used the wireless WiFi connection on your wii in order for it to work, or if the computer can be turned off with only the internet connection still running. Any help would be much appreciated :)

  • Yes, the computer must be on when you want to use the Wi-Fi Connector.

  • where can i find the usb connector and disc?

  • Most stores that sell Wiis should have them. The disc is part of the package.

  • what when you buy the usb?

  • When you buy the USB Wi-Fi Connector, it comes with the necessary software.

  • Do they still sell in Australia?I heard they were discontinued.

  • Sorry, but I don't have any info on that.

  • hey, got a problem when i search for an access point it comes up with something with a decent connection after i save it and do a connection test, it cant find anything!!!!!

  • Not sure exactly what to say about that. If you're trying to connect to a router that isn't your own, which most likely means it's somewhere out of the normal range for a connection, you might have a problem keeping that connection.

  • thanks bro for helping me i got it running

  • ill try and do it but also i tried the turning off the fire wall or whatever and it still dident work

  • i got it to work once and then it dident work

  • Not sure what to say. Leave a video response? Maybe I'll be able to see what's up.

  • my thing dosent work i do it and i get an error code

  • Check the error code on the Nintendo support site. That should give you some info.

  • I have the Wi-FI usb connector but not the disc. DOn't ask how. BUT IS THERE SOMETHING I CAN DOWNLOAD TO USE LIKE A DISC??

  • You should be able to download the software on its own, direct from the Nintendo support site. Just go to the site and look for the latest version of the Nintendo USB Wi-Fi Connector software.

  • i tried the wireless connection, & i got red & gray locks. Whats a WEP? and how do i find it? or what about a gray lock?

  • WEP is a type of encryption for wireless connections. For whatever wireless connection you're trying to access, it needs to actually be one that you've got full access to in the first place.

Were the access points you were trying to connect to your own?

  • i need help! i did everything you said to do but the testing connection didnt work wat do i do!? plz help

  • First question. Are you using the Wi-Fi Connector, or a router?

  • wifi connecter

  • Second and third questions: Have you checked to make sure there are no anti-virus or firewall programs blocking the Connector access?

Is your Wii in range of the Connector?

  • yes firewall allows it yep im preety sure the wii is in range of the connector i did everything in this vid about it but it says that the test wont finish :(

  • Any error code?

  • ya its 52040

  • The only thing I can think of, as that's the most basic error code for this situation, is that you might not be running the latest version of the software. You might want to check Nintendo's support site to see.

You can check out the troubleshooting tips there too, by inputting the error code, but I can't say that all of this will help. If none of these methods work, you'll have to call Nintendo.

Either way, let me know how it works out.

  • Were you using a wii lan adaptor on the wii?How did you get it on your computer screen.

  • The Wi-Fi adapter we were using was the official Nintendo adapter.

The direct feed footage you saw on my computer was done with our TV Tuner card. You can check out How to Record Video Game Footage To Your Computer for an explanation.

  • great video 5stars man nice job the instructions were very clear

  • Thanks.

i a muslim and u helped me and ur fucking great

    u r a great jew

  • Thank you. Hehe. See everybody! Muslims and Jews can get along :p.

  • this is the best helpful video i ever een in youtube!!1

  • Thanks. Glad you liked it.

  • My Nintendo Wi-Fi USB device stops working after about an hour and thirty minutes after i plug it in, and when i take it out, and plug it back it, it says, "USB device not recognized".

    What should I do?

  • First of all, don't just unplug it and plug it back in again. You have to eject it properly first.

Second of all, if you've noticed that as a specific time frame, you might want to give Nintendo a call and see if they can diagnose it. You may, possibly need a replacement.

  • How do i eject it properly, theres no button that pops up on my taskbar.

Theres no specific time frame, it doesn't only work in the morning, or afternoon, it just seems to stop working after a hour and a few minutes.

  • The eject removable hardware button doesn't come up? Alright. I'm not sure how to deal with that problem specifically.

As far as the non-specific time frame goes, I wouldn't be able to tell you why it konks out in the first place. Your best bet will be to call Nintendo.

  • Thank you very much for the advice Mr.Aviatcomicbookbin. I will follow your advice as soon as possible.

  • you can not take it out

  • Take what out?

  • i got another question.

I just got wifi. What does the cable do?

In the video you said that if it's not easy accesible.

  • If the port is not physically accessible to the Connector, the cable gives it access. You plug the cable into the port and the Connector into the cable.

  • thanks man you pwn.

  • Comicbookbin pwnzzzzzzzz!!

    I got a question.

So basically all you got to do is install the software and then go to internet settings on the Wii, and do the first available connection then do Wii USB adapter then grant permission? Please answer.

  • Simply put, yes. Follow the instructions.

  • how do u change the privacy settings on the router?? :(

  • That's usually dependent on the router you've got, but there is usually a "Wireless security" section somewhere. Check your router's manual for the exact instructions.

  • please tel me if you have to keep the usb adapter in the pc while your online on the wii or can you take it out when its done.

  • Whenever you want to connect using the Wi-Fi Connector, you'll need it in the USB port. I suppose you could take it out when you're not using it.

One note though. If the "safely remove hardware" icon is on when you've got the Wi-Fi Connector in, you'll need to tell it to safely remove it first.

  • tyvm

  • yvw :).

  • why is it that when i put in the disk it doesan't allow me because of something wat is that am i using the wrong router or am i just not following the steps???

  • Not quite sure what your problem with the disk is. Is this the disk for the Wi-Fi Connector or for your router?

Also, please try to make your sentences more comprehensible. If I can't read them, I can't answer the question.

  • this is the most helpful video ever its step by step live!!

  • Glad you liked it.

  • how did the wii get on computer?

  • The answer to that question is in our How to Record Video Game Footage to Your Computer video.

  • so with the nintendo wifi usb connector you have a passord that comes with it or do you make up your own also does your connection need a password too?

  • You don't need a password because you have to personally allow access for each system that attempts to connect to it.

  • lol theres no password

  • hey I just bought Wifi connector and I used your vid ;) thanks it really helps,, I had error but that was because of firewall's.

Thanks ;) now i gonna buy wii point card.

    Cyaaaaa

  • Enjoy!

  • ty only do you have to download wii internet channel??

  • Not if you don't want it. If you don't plan to use your Wii to surf the Internet, you don't need the Internet Channel.

  • but if I want to surf over internet and stuff xD and another question can i download JAVA and play runescape at wii??

    Thanks

  • If you do want it, you'll have to download it. It costs 500 Wii Points ($5).

It does do Javascript, but not Java applets.

  • THANKS very much

Best vid I ever saw about wifi connection.

    Keep going on ;)

  • thx

  • Glad to help.

  • what is a wired connection?

  • A wired connection used wires to connect you to the Internet. In the case of the Wii, that means using a LAN adapter to connect an Ethernet cable (that same cable that hooks up to your computer to give it Internet) between your Wii and a router or your computer.

  • ok i followed everything you said and it worked fine....untill about a week ago it said an error code 51042 and 51040. plz help me

  • Seems like you might need to update or reinstall the software. Other advice I can suggest is checking to see that you've given the Connector permissions for your Windows Firewall.

  • does it work with windows xp only?

  • Vista too.

  • thnx soo much best vid i seen

  • Glad to help.

  • Thanks dude

  • You're welcome.

  • do you need a wireless connection to set up a wii usb connector?

  • If you've already got a wireless connection, you don't need the Wi-Fi Connector, because that's what it creates. It's available for people who don't have, or don't want to get, wireless routers.

  • Every time I do the connection test for a wireless router an error code comes up. It is 51330 and it says: Unable to connect to the internet. Choose internet settings and confirm your connection. Could you maybe help?

  • I can try.

The first things you'll have to check are whether the router you're connecting to is running WEP security or some other form, whether you're typing in the WEP key paraphrase or the full key and whether your router is running MAC address filtering or not.

If you don't understand any of that, check the comments before your question, you'll find some explanations.

  • I really need some help here..ive done everything that you are supposed to do with the Wi-Fi usb connector...when i test the connection it comes up

    Error Code: 52240

Unable to connect to server. Please try again later. I think it might have something to do with the version i have...my version is 3.0E can you please help me?

  • There may be a firewall, anti-virus or anti-spyware software blocking access. If that's the case, you'll want to try telling them to allow the Wi-Fi Connector access, so it can work.

Also, if you're not running updated software, it can sometimes be problematic. You might want to consider checking the Nintendo support site for an updated version.

  • hi i'm in the weird situation where my ds and wii do not conenct to wi fi even thoguh they pick up my router prefctly. when i search for an aces point they pick up my router however when i eneter my wep key (which ts definitely right) no coenction is made when i tested it...error 51300 pops up and wifi website doesn't really help.

  • When you type in the key, do you use the paraphrase or the full key? We were having a problem connecting a DS using the paraphrase, so we tried the full key and it worked instantly.

If that's not the issue, you might try checking to see if your router needs your DS's MAC address.

Finally, if that doesn't help, go to the Nintendo support site, type in the error code and follow the link to the wireless configuration page to see if there's information for your specific router.

  • i just two quick qs...what do u mean by paraphrase and how do u check if the router needs the mac adress? ty

  • The paraphrase is the short form that you usually enter in for the router to turn into a key. After that, you press generate key, and it makes a long list of letters and numbers.

You should be able to find out if the router is running MAC address filtering or not in the wireless section, under MAC filter, or something similar.

  • So depending on how fast my computor is thats how fast my Wi fi will be if I use the nintendo DS thing on my Wii?

  • Not exactly. If your computer's really slow, yes it will make a difference. If it's a pretty standard computer though, it shouldn't make a difference.

  • do you all ways have to have you computer on to use wii wi fi. can someone please tell me

  • If you're using the Wi-Fi Connector, yes. If you're using a router, no.

  • is there any wifi connectors that is windows vista compatible....? I was about to buy that wifi but it said that it will only work for XP..............what can i do? i need help!!!!

    Thanx

  • They updated the software for the Wi-Fi Connector, so it's now Vista compatible. You might just need to download the update first.

  • It keeps saying code error 51051050501! how do i get it to connect do u have to have a motum connected to it?

  • No such error code exists. The actual error codes are much shorter than that.

  • I know that it was sacasem dang!

  • Sorry. It's difficult to pick out sarcasm in text. Plus, you may have noticed that people commonly ask us to tell them what the error codes mean, instead of checking for themselves.

The funny thing is that it takes more time to ask and then wait for our reply, usually, than checking for themselves.
