Our bands must have bought the same show or at least worked with the exact same creative staff that year, because Marietta did this show with the first movement being substituted with Havendance. I mean, the drill is EXACTLY the same, as are the Ballet Sacra arrangements. Nifty!
And in the last four years, from 2005-2008, EVERY YEAR they have had a different director. So that scared the people away...and all of the talent. Sad day for the kids now
Pretty good band. The drill could have been a little more crisp. You can definately tell it is a high school band by the sound. mpmcd81...one college band that is way better than any Pac 10, Big 10, and other SEC bands, and this band is the Univeristy of Alabama MDB!
As far as high schools though, this one is pretty good.
Sorry to say but College marhcing bands are simply pep bands, they do not march technical drill or play any music as difficult as what Pomona played. Most songs played during college half time shows are pop music and Moore Junior High School (feeder school for Pomona) could play these pieces. This show was also a drum core show, see Cadets of Bergen County, with respect, only a core could beat this show.
You are correct, about 99% are just pep bands. Some actually do play music that is a bit harder than this. University of Alabama plays harder music. Jacksonville State University plays harder music and marches harder drill. Most college bands have twice as many people as this band, so the drill cannot be as technical.
It is one thing to march a core show, it is another to do it well. JSU would definately beat this show, respectfully, and they only have a few weeks to prepare nultiple shows.
You obviously haven't received the equivalent opportunity to receive appropriate grammar/spelling education, as the fine members of the band you speak so negatively. For you, silence is, most sincerely, more than just a virtue. And to any other would-be "flamers" of this nationally acclaimed program, I say, spend your "two cents" elsewhere; 'cause with us, you earn your right to even talk shit!
This is one example that was the "Power-house of Colorado" high school marching bands...and many more followed for approx. 8 years. ED....where'd the Brass "BALLS" go?!? Personally, I miss seeing, hearing...hell, even feeling the power that this brass line used to have in store. ref. '96 State Finals Northglenn performance...Pomona can be heard in the background, practicing in the parking lot, over Northglenn...THAT is power!! and a performance that lead to 5th in Grand Nationals. FIND THE BALLS
Omfg, 190 people in band that year? Geez, im at Arapahoe this year and we were pushing for 110! I really thought this show was decent, latly from what I've seen, Im not impressed. Honestly, the Piano show wasn't very easy to watch.
Hm, that was my freshmen year. The second year that started the string of ownage by the PHS band. The year after this show we took 5th at nationals. That was a great show.

Many, many college bands can't hold a candle to this. Some of them are in the SEC, Big 10, and Pac 10.

Ahh Freshman year for me too. the '97 show was phenom. Might have to dig out the tape from my parents' basement haha
Excellent show, awesome 4 years of my life too. I can't imagine trying to memorize a 12 minute show and all those sets again.

Great video of 95, I marched for Pomona in 2001-2005 and always used to watch videos from the 90's and there were some pretty sweet shows back then
