  • man ingo was such a wasted talent he had the talent to be 1 of the greats but he wasted it by partying n not training hard

  • so THAT'S the gazelle punch. Ippo did it better though.

  • @S0ULJAmike you on here after watching hajime no ippo episode 47 as well lol

  • Dang. The Gazelle punch is probably the coolest left punch (orthodox) ever. Then I would say the superman punch is the coolest right punch ever hahaha

  • Gazelle punch is at 1:34 , 2:35 , 2:45 , and so on.. kewl..

  • R.I.P. Floyd and Ingemar

  • The Gazelle Punch is at exactly 9:40, it's so perfectly executed.

  • patterson pushed the ref 1:37 so random

  • 7.14 hes spits on him the cunt

  • 3.34 Gazelle punch

  • Ippo mother fuckers! Woooooo!

  • Gazelle Punch!!

  • thumbs up if hajime no ippo brought you here :p

  • @krismagician You can really see that devestating Gazelle Punch there at about 1:36

  • @krismagician Why? Is Hajime no ippo based on Floyd Patterson???

  • @vladiator100 no, its an anime based on boxing that makes lots of references on famous boxers, Patterson is one of them, the main character learns the same move that knocked Ingemar out.

    PS:sorry about my poor english

  • @vladiator100 no It's a boxing anime that features a lot of real boxing moves like the Flicker jab (thomas hearns), and the Gazelle punch by Floyd Patterson

  • @BTMS09 Do they ever mention Muhammad Ali?

  • @vladiator100 they mention him like in one episode that i watched, but it wasn't anything major they just said his name a few time.... but I just started to watch it so I don't know, but it looks like ever 10 - 15 episodes they mention a new person like I just watch one today that introduced the Dempsey Roll by Jack Dempsey... if your a boxing fan and like anime trust me it's really interesting, I didn't really like boxing until I stated to watch the show

  • @vladiator100 The Gazelle Punch is the signature move of Floyd Patterson.

  • were rounds 2minutes long in those days

  • @KiidDynamiteReturns No, this is edited. I have the entire fight on my channel.

  • The rounds are 3 minutes long since the Marquess of Queensberry invented the rules in 1867.

  • Even though Johansson lost this fight,i think he was technically the better boxer of the two..

  • patterson was great

  • What a great fight! Exciting, back and forth! These two always put on a tremendous fight. Great trilogy! Great rivalry!

  • Patterson had fast hands, and could punch for a small heavywt.

  • Two fat right hooks in the neck wins it for Patterson. I guess they were even after that.

Johansson could have been one of the greats, but he had other priorities in life... fast hands, fast feet, great puncher, great tactician.

  • is that a gazelle punch? @1:37

  • @lannz10 Yup, sick isn't it?

  • I mention Patterson in The History Song.

  • the ref did only count to seven. Thats wierd.

  • ingemar was from sweden !

  • gazelle puch! haha just kidding. nice fight!

  • In terms of sheer excitment, Knockdowns and knockouts, this may have been the most exciting trilogy of heavyyweight championship fights. maybe even moreso than Ali vs Frazier or Holyfield vs Bowe.Neither of these two are known for their ability to take a hard punch. The joke about this fight is ...afterwards it took the custodian all night to sweep the glass out of the ring...

  • Rip Ingo!

  • yeah i remember reading about how he was overly confident taking nearly half the time that patterson spent preparing for the fight in the weeks prior to the bout

  • boy johansson had a little grin on his face after the second knockdown of patterson did u guyz catch that

  • He had been counted out by the media and hardly bothered to train for this fight.

Johansson at that point probably thought he had caught lightning in a bottle yet again with his thunderous right but it was not to be.

Patterson fought completely on instinct when he landed that left hook out of nowhere after being knocked down twice.

  • @TheGreatA -"instinct"? Did u noticedhe slipped two punches before he threw the left hook..set up by the peekaboo style taught by Cus.... come on now, watch it again man. Bottom line, Floyd knocked dude out...only thing that matters is whose hand was raised at the end of the fight

  • @panzerson2 ye i seen that looks like a big smile to me he fort he had it in the bag

  • @panzerson2 YE I SEEN THAT IT DIDNT GO HOW HE FORT IT WOOD THO LMAO

  • i dont get it, didnt ingo win against floyd?

  • Patterson and Johansson fought three times. Ingemar won their first fight; Floyd won the next two.

  • I think IJ JUST beat the count- very controversial finish.

  • "The punch they call the hammer of Thor" haha

  • En este combate el sparring de Ingemar Johanson era un chico llamado Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.

  • im proud to be from sweden just like ingo :D

  • 9:43

  • i disagree i think floyd would have been a bad matchup for marciano because of his foot and hand speed in his earlier fights.of course if marciano caught anybody they were goin to sleep.they were about the same size and there were talks about marciano coming out of retirement to fight floyd

  • when can i see gazelle punch what time

  • Marciano would've destroyed both.

  • about 5:48...looks like Tyson(less the power) but methinks u can really see Cus's influence in Floyd's style. Johansson looks so much bigger. Floyd was very very good but....Marciano would expose that suspect chin. Nice boxing by Floyd.

  • this is the third classic battle for the heavyweight crown between two legends of the sport, Floyd Patterson and Ingemar Johansson. In their first fight in 1959, Johansson knocked down Patterson seven times in the last round, winning the World Title. Their next fight was a year later in which Patterson won back the title. This would be their last battle to decide one and for all who was the greatest.

  • Both could really dish it out but neither could take it, which made for major excitement.

  • Drop dead, nazi scum! We don't want your kind in Sweden!!

  • Were is the 59 match?

  • One of the greatest! RIP Ingo your memories and your Thors Hammer will forever live on

  • When was this fight? Was it in next fight with Floyd Patterson that Ingemar won?

  • This was the third fight.

Johansson KO'd Patterson the first time they fought and won the world heavyweight title which Patterson regained in the rematch and defended in this fight.

Johansson came close to winning in the first round but he couldn't finish Patterson off.

  • @TheGreatA Yeah but Patterson didn't seem as hurt as he did in the first fight. Here he seems to still have his bearings and had the look on his face as if to say "I shouldn't even be taking an 8 count", in the first fight he seemed dazed and very hurt after the first knockdown which is amazing because he got up 7 times in the first fight despite being very hurt since the first knockdown...

  • Johansson actually trained and was in top physical condition would have been a devestating boxer. Ali and Johansson in a real fight Ali would have to be very careful with that right hand punch. Ingo's Bingo what a punch he was a great heavyweight boxer. Rest in Peace Ingo what a champion even for a brief period

  • Anybody got Johansson vs Richardson?, another spectacular finish by Ingo for the Euro belt... underestimated fighter even to this day. But that only helped him :D

  • R.I.P Ingo...

  • rest in peace

  • RIP INGO.

  • I've seen the first and second fights between Ingo and Floyd a few time, but never the third fight .

    Great battle.Thanks for the upload.

  • What the fuck,

the last blow is clearly a punch that hits Ingo in the backer side of the head.

  • No,it hit right under Ingo's ear and that was 100 legal.

Ingo hit bihind Floyd's head in thier first meeting(down#2) And what did you feel about it?.

  • Youre blind !!!

  • 7:05 gazzelle punch

  • This is a terrible loss. On the positive side, Ernie Terrell is now the oldest living

    heavyweight champ.

Next are Jimmy Ellis and then Ali.

    RIP "Ingo The Bingo"!

  • RIP Ingo

  • they became best friends.. after those 3 matches.. and now both are dead, both stricken by the same disease alzheimer.

    Both great men

    both great athletes

    both great champions

The gentlemen and the fist of Thor R.I.P.

  • Floyd died early summer 2006.

    When did Ingemar die?

Thanks, cos my Grandfather died of the same.

    All the very best.

  • Yesterday.

  • RIP Ingo, "Ingo var störst, en gång Champ alltid Champ."

  • Vila i frid Ingemar. Svenskar låt hans kämpar anda leva vidare i dig varje dag

  • rip champ!

  • R.I.P Ingo

    You where a real champion

  • RIP Champ

  • r.i.p INGO

  • Rip

  • RIP Ingo. Nice fight.

  • yeah ingo died tonight its tragical ;(

  • I've heard that the great Swedish champion Ingemar Johansson has just died.

    May he rest in peace.

  • Ingo is my absolute favourite fighter.. it's too bad that Ingo didn't win this fight also.

  • This fight was the best of the three fights both met. Swedish Johansson had a good tactics and basics for his left jabs and right hook but what he lacked of was his stamina.

  • very good that you show the rest of the world this great clip of ingo who is from my country sweden.

  • Many thanks to you for posting this rarely seen heavyweight fight.
