@CircuitTheBand Get the fuck off this video. Skrillex is shit, mainstream, churning out the same crap over and over again, the same breakdown sections, the same synth sounds, the same shit remixes. Its all shit and derived from elsewhere. Skream was a pioneer of Dubstep and this tune is arguably one of the best of all time. Most people that like skrillex are fanboys that jumped on the bandwagon because everyone else listens to him. Been listening to dub since before skrillex and still lovin it.
@CHINSoHOLIC For someone that acts like they are knowledgable about music, you seem to make a lot of fallacies in your argument. You associate being mainstream with being bad, which it is not logically entailed to do so. Secondly, how would most of Skrillex's fans listen to him because everyone else does, thats a circular argument. Finally, Skrillex doesn't make Dub, he makes Dubstep/electro/house. Dub is completely different from Skrillex's sound, its like Reggae.
@CircuitTheBand How so, explain your reasoning. Is it because Skream doesn't make the brostep hard-dropping heavy-hitting lack of melody that Skrillex does. Because Skream makes real pure dubstep in the truest sense, Skrillex creates melodically lacking brostep. If you actually dissect Skrillex's "Dubstep", you'd find that he just layers numerous synths of wobbles, yoi's, roar's, and screeches which are all playing the same note. He makes a bunch of sounds, then basically cycles through them.
@meezocool@RadikalBasswise Stop chasing rabbits, you know I was shortening Dubstep to dub because I was running out of space. I know what dub is, so don't try to make me seem like an idiot. Lets face it, most mainstream music is pretty terrible, because people catch on to one song, and the artist just produces loads more of that thing. I presume you've heard skrillex's old stuff? Its nothing like this weird 1000000 noises shit. Its actually really good, but he made one song in the style...
@meezocool That he does now and it was popular, and being clever, he just kept making the same shit, because the sheep just want that same shit. Then because he became mainstream and a lot of people started to listen to him, just because their friends did, even if they didn't like him. Wobble bass and synth really should not be a characteristic of dubstep, as they originated from DnB and were rarely found in Dubstep songs pre-2000. True dubstep should not be to far away from Dub in reality...
@meezocool Its meant to be a deep, more chill sound than pretty much anyone produces today. As a child my dad played King Tubby, Easy Star All Stars and Lee Scratch Perry all the time, along with various other genre artists, and thats why I grew up liking the good music, and naturally hated skrillex because its pretty terrible music that people blindly follow, and when I found dubstep, was naturally drawn to the likes of Skream and Coki.
i like the europeans like to shit on americans cause of skrillex. Yet they also fail to mention that if it wasnt for the United States (more specific Detroit, Michigan) EDM wouldn't be around for them to love and shit on us for how we don't do it "proper." Listen I love skrillex, and borgore and skream and rusko all of them. it's all 140 bpm uses drops and bass wobbles. "Brostep" uses the same sub bass as drum and bass and uk garage. WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK IT"S FUCKING MUSIC.
i cant believe people still argue about this on youtube, why do people in the uk give a shit about americans brostepping, original dubstep was always going to change into something else every genre and idea develops and changes, u wanna listen to the older stuff like me with that eminent 2step beat and chilled vibe or mosh to electro metal like skrillex. jam out man u all need to puff on a few blunts
@kambge because it is fucking horrible seeing americans 'moshing' to dubstep like it is a fucking sub genre of metal. IT IS FUCKING DANCE MUSIC FOR CHRISTS SAKE - YOUR SUPPOSED TO DANCE TO IT. Americans destroy everything
@FiveFingerRainRap so because a few american dumbass walk into a scene they have no clue about and do their douchebaggery to EDM, all americans are to blame. from american to europe fuck yourself. if you "proper" dub step was so good then how come skrillex and the rest of "brostep" artist sell out everywhere they go in europe? piss off "mate"

@spazcraz i agree pick up something like beyredynamic dt770. hit some wobble bass with those and they'll wobble your brains. or if you want something to whack your head like a hammer try a pair of grado's wana block out the world sennheiser HD25 mk2 want some portables? brainwavez b2 wanna listen to classical? akg k701's or sennheiser hd 595/600/650 the list goes on and on. only the k701's and hd6x0's are in the same price range as the beats everything else is much lower.
wow i can hear the bass on my Beats FINALLY THIS IS ACTUALLY A GOOD SONG. and before people say beats suck and are overpriced, they're actually good but pricey. but not when they're 100$ off
I said it proves you're a butthurt hipster, not that you said you were. Also, Skrillex never claims that his songs are dirty etc, just idiots that dont know what theyre talking about. Dont judge music by its fanbase. Also, listen to his bells album, you'll find plenty of musical talent there.
Message to all those people who say "skrillex sucks" and then think they're cool because they choose to hate the music that alot of people enjoy, three words. go. fuck. yourself.
@Forestgravy You just gotta learn to appreciate music bro. I dont know if your an artist yourself or not, but you have to understand how much time and work it takes to put together tracks like Skrillex does. Now quit hatin'. Nuff nuff.
why can't ppl just stfu about the music they don't like and concentrate on the music they enjoy? all you hipsters moaning about skrillex and 'meanstream' are just as bad as all these clueless fanboys imo. just shut the fuck up and enjoy the bass! fuck's sake
@Bootstrap193 I hope you know that the bass is not the point of listen to music, and should not be the on deciding factor whether a song is good or not. also Skrillex sucks
American dubstep artists made it as filthy as they can forgetting what dubstep is all about, but there's no reason to hate on them.
It's because of those artists that skream and benga etc get more attention, they don't mind that they make dubstep as filthy as they do so why would we care? People who listen to dubstep will always remember the start of it at small parties with 50 people :D
dubstep is a broad spectrum of styles much like rock, metal, drum and bass or jazz. stop whining about such artists. i dont really know why i scroll down to read the comments. because they just annoy me when i read them.
How do you know that? Do you know Skrillex personally? You don't have the slightest fuck on what you're talking about. Mainstream just means people love him. His sound is unique and heavy. He's not even dubstep. He's just Skrillex.
I hate skrillex as much as the next well-eared person, but it's a waste of space clogging up the comments section of classics such as this bitching about him. He's irrelevant.
No, it's all dubstep. Genres evolve and you have to live with that. If you want original dubstep it's still out there. It's not as mainstream, but it doesn't matter.
@hitman6833 Yea i know what your saying, but skrillex, in a way, isn't even dubstep (more of electronic). So I was literaly saying skrillex wasn't exactly dubstep. But I still like them both. It requires massive talent to make music like that. :D
I agree with lights every time i think of dub step I think of whiny YouTube people now lol I like the music but why does every video have to have such immature comments?
Every time I watch a youtube video featuring music from the older UK dubstep artists, all I see are people complaining about Skrillex. Pathetic. Get a life, losers. No one cares what the "real" stuff is-even less having to read you complain about what it isn't constantly.
As a Skrillex fan, all your whining is accomplishing is turning me off exploring the genre any further.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This Sound has nothing to do with our dubstep today, there are no elements of the Garage sound. It's too much minimal. And i guess we all Want Hard dubstep drumlines which let you fall in hypnotic trance dancing in Front of the subwoofer :D Thumps Up if you agree :D merry xmas
@kb9v i think a lack of dance music culture and a tendency to assert masculinity through music (squashing out all the subtlety and musicality in favor of screechy, distorted midrange) has a lot to do with it as well
@kb9v I can totally agree with you. For me as an American, my first taste of dubstep came from a random person playing Caspa and Rusko (FabircLive37) on a server in Counter Strike. I have fallen victim to this "brostep culture" as some may call it, but once i started getting into more UK artists: Skream, Benga, Rusko, Caspa, and many others, I came to the realization that most American dubstep artists arent that good
@kb9v I live in the US. And I cannot stand brostep. But I agree, the average American dubstep fan, and probably most American dubstep producers don't even have a clue what UK garage sounds like. It's about the dark garage sound, the dub vibe, and most importantly, bass and space.
I heard that the new "dubstep" can be enjoyed through laptop speakers and the classic/original dubstep has to be played through proper speakers before it can be enjoyed because of the base we cant hear.
you're all bent for going on about it so much, no-one debates this much over any other genres, you just wanna look BIG IN THE GAME on youtube cus everyone bums off the dubstep nowadays....just chill people, ENJOY THE FUCKING TUNES!!!
hey if youd be willing to check out my music it would be greatly appreciated, just starting out so feedback is more than welcome, unfortunately i dont have any other ways of advertising so this is my only way of reaching a larger audience, i dream of playing large venues
and a simple thumbs up on this comment would help out so much
Music evolves. The boundaries of genres change through the years. Dubstep was in it's infancy so it's no surprise that it was a quickly evolving genre. You may not like the changes to the genre but accept that they have happened. Don't be that grandpa always saying "Back in my day...".
Time for an abridged history lesson. THE BEGINNING - dubstep emerged in Croydon, UK in the late 90s, heavily taking influence from dub and 2step. hence... DUBSTEP. the first producers stayed true to this. Skream is fairly famous today... others include Hatcha, Benga, etc modern ones include L-Wiz. THE PEAK - dubstep became mad popular in the UK. everyone was into it. THE DECLINE - Doctor P and other popularised FILTH. America caught on. Skrillex took a shit and recorded it. The end.
Rather than making retarded jokes about jizz, bad poetry, earthquakes, and lysol that everyone has already seen… how about something constructive? Like a recommendation for new dubstep that will blow your mind.
Song recommendation: "Rampage Remastered" by Fall of Icarus. He's pretty unknown but makes some pretty sick dubstep.
If you're bored and looking for a new artist, check him out. If not, that's cool too and I respect you for hating my comment.
@IASteurer You obviously have never listened to any d'n'b or garage. That WOMP WOMP you're talking about is not what makes dubstep dubstep, since the element is to be found i many different styles of music. The sub bass in this is imense, and this tune was banging up clubs and dubstep net radios way before the average person had ever even heard about it.
@thomasannand You sure do think about wanker a lot don't ya buddy? You obviously like shit music if you're defending this boring garbage. Guess you should "go and wank off to Skream and his monotonous shitty music" ;)
@dcfcanthony Digital Mystics, Mala, Kode9, Ramadanman, Burial and loads others. The Tectonic Plates and Box of Dub compilations are good starting points. Skrillex ain't even dubstep at all.
@PaulusBlitzkrieg Oh, trust me, you don't have to give me a lecture about dubstep. But Skrillex has nothing to do with dubstep. He is electro house (sometimes funky, almost always heavy). There's nothing dub nor step about his music and to associate him with the great genre of dubstep is an insult real dubstep artists. Just because he may use a 2-step pattern every once in a while, he still uses mostly four on the floor. Plenty of electro artists use two step patterns. Doesn't mean it's dubstep.
@venim619 I used to have the same views as you, but now i have changed the way i look at the whole skrillex dubstep situation. Skrillex being classed as dubstep isnt really a bad thing as his mainstreamness introduces many people to dubstep meaning other "real" dubstep producers will benfit from his exposure as they wil get exposure. Also as i live in south london near were dubstep was created I would love if it got exposure as it wuld put us on the map for a potentially huge music genre.
@venim619 i'm really sick of dumbasses like you thinking you know what you're talking about when you don't. if you would've said this a year and a half ago, you'd be right, but like 95+ % of the stuff skrillex has made in the past year has all been dubstep, not electro house. you obviously don't listen to skrillex nor have you heard any of the dozens of live tracks he's played or released the past year that are clearly not electro house. go ahead and argue brostep vs dubstep, just not electro
@bassline0121 No shit you fucking tool, do you have to make anything more obvious? You missed the complete point of what I said. Dubstep and electro right now rely on fine lines between percussive and rhythmic technical classifications an

@hitman6833 Yea i know what your saying, but skrillex, in a way, isn't even dubstep (more of electronic). So I was literaly saying skrillex wasn't exactly dubstep. But I still like them both. It requires massive talent to make music like that. :D

I agree with lights every time i think of dub step I think of whiny YouTube people now lol I like the music but why does every video have to have such immature comments?
gamecube998 1 month ago
Every time I watch a youtube video featuring music from the older UK dubstep artists, all I see are people complaining about Skrillex. Pathetic. Get a life, losers. No one cares what the "real" stuff is-even less having to read you complain about what it isn't constantly.
As a Skrillex fan, all your whining is accomplishing is turning me off exploring the genre any further.

I personally think that the main reason the us has it all wrong with brostep is that they have no uk garage influences.
kb9v 1 month ago 16
@kb9v i think a lack of dance music culture and a tendency to assert masculinity through music (squashing out all the subtlety and musicality in favor of screechy, distorted midrange) has a lot to do with it as well
glottis5 3 weeks ago
@kb9v I can totally agree with you. For me as an American, my first taste of dubstep came from a random person playing Caspa and Rusko (FabircLive37) on a server in Counter Strike. I have fallen victim to this "brostep culture" as some may call it, but once i started getting into more UK artists: Skream, Benga, Rusko, Caspa, and many others, I came to the realization that most American dubstep artists arent that good
voxer16333 3 weeks ago
@kb9v I live in the US. And I cannot stand brostep. But I agree, the average American dubstep fan, and probably most American dubstep producers don't even have a clue what UK garage sounds like. It's about the dark garage sound, the dub vibe, and most importantly, bass and space.

I heard that the new "dubstep" can be enjoyed through laptop speakers and the classic/original dubstep has to be played through proper speakers before it can be enjoyed because of the base we cant hear.

Doesn't mean it's dubstep.
venim619 2 months ago 26
@venim619 I used to have the same views as you, but now i have changed the way i look at the whole skrillex dubstep situation. Skrillex being classed as dubstep isnt really a bad thing as his mainstreamness introduces many people to dubstep meaning other "real" dubstep producers will benfit from his exposure as they wil get exposure. Also as i live in south london near were dubstep was created I would love if it got exposure as it wuld put us on the map for a potentially huge music genre.
kalj0506 1 month ago
