Lions are down to about 20,000 in all of Africa; they formerly roamed in the millions. In Kenya, lions may be gone altogether by 2020, thanks to people killing them to protect livestock. Trophy hunters are doing the deed elsewhere, and many of them are poaching and not reporting it, since they pay big money to get a kill.

These animals didn't start off not seeing humans as prey species.

The only safe-ish way to do this and still leave the animals relatively untouched is constant monitoring, especial on something as deadly and with a proven Human killer.
Perhaps you should show the attacks, or video the people after the attacks? May be this would change the stupid ignorant "do-gooders"!

to those people that are saying how these animals should be left on their own, and they shouldn't have collars etc etc...its impossible...many breeds of lions are endangered, and scientists collar them, so they can track them and then this allows them to enhance their natural habitat and to make more safe zones for animals such as lions. @RicxelArms They kill them because they eat people. India had great tiger hunts in the past and put the fear of humans in the tiger. Now tigers rarely attack people in most parts of the world. The same thing with lions really. Human life always trumps animal life in these times. If any animal attacks a human with a chance to kill them it's probably gonna be killed. The same goes for dogs, bears, tigers, crocs, pumas, and any other animal that people can get to.

@piefrance You really don't know what you're talking about do you? Humans used to be very easy prey to a lot of animals. Tigers were one of them. Indians started great tiger hunts and put the fear of humans into them. Now only wounded or sick tigers eat people(there's still a small population of tigers that actively hunt people because the terrain was too rough for the tiger hunters). These animals didn't start off not seeing humans as prey species.
