One thing that really bugs me about a lot of peoples interpretations of the show (this one included but not specifically) is that they put to much focus on the religious element. There's no denying that it was important but that's not all the show was about. This series was a great character driven comedy (later drama) which always had an underlying message religion was a way to make the show work the show wasn't about religion.
When I was a small child, around 4-6 years of age; there was a "Christian Television" show entitled, "David and Goliath". The puppets in Morel Orel look very much like those of the David n Goliath. Morel is greatly animated, well written, and dark yet smart comedy

Moral Orel Really Did Good job with its episodes, Season 1 Showed alot of Comedy of Orel screwing up, Season 2, improving, and Season 3 Very Very Dark and Sad. The Last Episode brings a tear to my eye, and Nature Part 2 when Clay shoots Orel's Leg, that really almost made me cry.
I love Moral orel, it's one of my favorite shows, thank you for posting, and the last season is by far the best, and the last episode almost made me cry, it's a dark comedy and very good! I watch the newly posted episodes every day!!!!
would you believe its just a natural retardation (no Drugs required) this was one of my first vlogs and i was still trying to get into a groove you should check out of my more recent vids now im going to eat some funyuns and watch star trek
It's funny adult swim claims to have adult programming but it's shows like morel orel and venture bros that actually represent what it is to be adult. In both shows it shows characters who obvious flaws and have to work with them while other programs are just stupid immature slapstick. I wish they would continue morel orel because it really got interesting in the third season.
This show was amazing, and it really sucks that it was canceled. I am extremely satisfied with the ending two episodes where Orel's annoying happiness just seemed to have faded away, until Coach Stopframe ended up helping him have a good Christmas (of course the final bit of showing Orel's change to adulthood was great too, and shows that children don't always follow in the wrong steps their parents took).
"Numb" was also a great, and slightly disturbing episode.
I also believe that Morel Orel is a show that does not get enough credit. I am actually going to be writing a rhetorical analysis of the show for a class and I think it is going to be great. Your vlog was very helpful and has given me a starting point to work from...but I don't think I'll be using the numb episode for the formal paper.
I agree with ye, the new episode is amazing. It's weird that a show went from vaguely funny to just... so moving. I wonder if Dino decided to do all this before the show was to be canceled or if he did it as a result.
Anyway, check my speech video on my profile; it's Clay's speech.
I didn't really love Moral Orel until I saw "Numb", wow that episode was just amazing, but my favorites are "alone" and "dumb" the whole nurse bendy story is really great and very sad but ends very well.
the show is too amazing the episode numb is probably one of my favorite episodes of any show ever the mountain goats song fits so well better than any music has ever fit any piece of film. it was amazing
I love this show and I'm so sad that it has been cancelled :(
It's never been about making fun of religion. The show is about making fun of people who skew and distort religion to make their screwed up lives seem wholesome and righteous. Orel is the only real religious and pure person in the show, everyone else is just faking it.
I thought it was kinda creepy, like I watch it but sometimes I'm mostly like WTH! and laughing but it's definitely not a show that I watch all the time only when I am in bed and nothing else is on. It's okay.
Amen Bro! this show is gets canceled and we are stuck with Tim & Eric! WTF!!!? Morel Orel is a great show, its sad that it goes over a lot people heads cause of the intellect comedy, also I guess there alot viewers get offened when it comes to religion that hits too close to home. Dino should pitch Morel Orel on IFC or something, adult swim doesn't deserve morel orel!
I kind of have no idea why some of you guys don't consider Moral Orel to be a dark show. Are you guys not picking up on the social commentary, and implications of subtext? Christ.
Earlier it was a pretty dark show but still along the sort of play-it-safe satire along the lines of South Park and the like, but slowly it's unraveled that, eventually reaching a breaking point in Nature where the show's dark undercurrents just completely come out. I love that kind of radical shifting of tone, and it makes perfect sense but a lot of people probably won't get it. Tendency to expect things to always stay the same, but this isn't that kind of show now.
Grounded is TOO creepy. He is basically cut off from all church by his father. During this time, he slowly gets insane, and tries to kill himself to get a near-death experience. What he sees is very disturbing.
It is creepy but I think that's what makes it interesting. Point is no one knows really what happens after you die and I think that was supposed to show that. Other than the red space, all he sees is stuff that are reflections of his life instead of angels and stuff.
I like to think that maybe it's a way of saying that it doesn't matter what religion you are or how pious you are, what matters in the end is how you lived.
Christ. When I first saw Moral Orel, which was actually the episode, Numb, I was stunned. It was FANTASTIC. I find it tragic that the traits that mark it as a work of art, such as being clever and entertaining, being a SMART show, turn people off.
I love this show. It's dark, it's smart, it's subversive... I'm sensitive to cliches, and honestly, this show isn't just simply fresh, but self aware.
Also, thank you for your choice in the episode, Numb, which has left a huge impression on me.
Yes, yes, I know. I just wanted to point out that there seemed to be kind of a genre shift in Moral Orel. Yeah, the thing they were making fun of is rarely touched in that way, but it was still the upbeat haha kind of funny for those who got it. Now, I think dark humor is a good assessment, but in my opinion, I don't think they're even trying to be funny. I think they're getting more serious commentary in.
I just hope they're going somewhere with it. If the show ends with Nature, that'd suck.
After an episode like Nature, there's no way this show can go back to a status quo. What they're doing is going back to various points between previous episodes to really spell out how it's never about the morals, or religion, or even god, it always comes back to the people and their problems. Maybe to build up tension because I do want to know where this is going chronologically after Nature.
id like to reiterate that all i said is mostly my own thoughts and i appreciate any other comments be it opposing or agreeing thanx everyone:) oh and subscribe more to come!!!!
I don't know. I'm still trying to see Grounded. It's kind of pissing me off.
As for going bad? Yeah, I haven't entirely been a fan of these episodes. I'd have to say that the most interesting part of the new season was the creepy egg lady's model of Moralton.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Moral Orel didn't really get "dark" until after Nature parts I & II. Metalocalypse is a good example of dark comedy. The episode choices they made really explains why it's getting cancelled.
Don't get me wrong, I still love it. This one I didn't like. I prefer Nature. If you watch the whole show, you spend the whole time just waiting for Orel to have a confrontation with his dad, and then it happens. I can't wait for the episodes that take place after it.
i respect your opinion and thank you for commenting however do you recall the ice cream man who wanted to molest Orels friend in the back of his ice cream van thats pretty freakin dark and was well before the nature episode however i do agree that it have become much more dark since the nature episode :)

If that qualifies as dark comedy, that makes half of Family Guy dark.
It only counts if it's presented in a particularly violent way.
