@BobDylanFan1966, I remember that the bass and the reverb were more present on the mono 45 single. Not really a big deal, I suppose; but reviews are starting to pile up on music websites in preference for the mono versions (stereo balanced to mono) regarding the entire catalog.

@BobDylanFan1966, I believe the newest Beatles CD that are identified as mono are in fact stereo balanced to mono. It gives the presence of stereo, but lacks the division of separate sounds between speakers. I remember finding some of the early singles in true mono, and the sound seemed flat to me. Anyway, stereo rules.

@HelpMeSpock89 - no they are true mono mixes. The Beatles sat in on all the mono mixes as to the band they were the most important ones. They were never there for stereo mixes done after the mono mixes were finished.

X2 - I have US (Capitol) and UK (Parlophone) copies of the original single. UK pressing blows the US pressings away. Forget the '68 stereo remix on the "Hey Jude" LP - Ech! Ironically, the stereo remix of "Rain" on that LP is tolerable... Otherwise, anything stereo before "Sgt. Pepper" SUCKS!
