The parents didn't refuse due to religious beliefs, they believe in natural alternative medicine which is well documented to work. They thought that using the governments version for an exception to gun point medicine, they would avoid having chemo crammed down their child's throat. Govt has now ruled that you do not own your child, they do and the little govt slave will take his killer chemo, Yes Sir!
The judge is wrong but so are the parents, this is just pure weakness passed on from parent to child. chemo has some devastating side effects. But this is an opportunity to forge strength, and build determination, self reliance, and create a strong ethic that will allow him to excel in life. not turn and run. And what is this "miracle" cure any way?
They have proof that the chemo is shrinking his tumor(s), i.e., saving his life. Was what they were doing before shrinking his tumors? No, or the judge wouldn't assert parental neglect. If eating kitten shit mixed with guano would've worked, i.e., stopped the cancer, then so be it. BUT WHAT THEY WERE DOING WASN'T WORKING AND HE WAS DYING. The real question is: Should a 13yo have the right to die. Evidently, no, because he's a minor. Should we let ten, twelve y.o.'s decide to die? ENOUGH!!!
