Hi there, my little girl has 1, and has had it for over a year now. We have just installed a second one (because she is growing), but the new one leaks out around the skin of the port, would you happen to know why this is. (the balloon is fully inflated as well) Great vid aswell, thanks for posting :)
@nudgek strange that the second one is leaking when the first didn't. I assume the french is the same? Is it stomach contents that leaks? Or just a gunky fluid? Sometimes if my stomach is overly full, I get a little leakage. Maybe too your daughter is getting more active? That can cause a little leakage too at times. If it continues or is a lot, or there is any kind of inflamation - do see someone about it. (cont...)
@nudgek Something that docs usually do not recommend - but I do it :) - is to cut a tiny square of gauze or breathable non-stick dressing. I made a cut from one edge of the square to the middle, so that I can fit the dressing around the tube, close to my skin and tape it [dressing] down flat. It means you can absorb the leakage and keep it from making the wet-rash on the skin. Also it means you can see what is leaking and how much. I change it morning and night. I've found too
@AGPrincess7117 Hi there. Yes, it does hurt a little after the procedure - you feel a little stiff in the middle. They will give you some medication for the pain and you just need to take it easy for a week or so while it heals up. Having the peg in won't effect your ability to have children (unless the reason you're getting it placed does?). You may just have to work a little harder while pregnant to ensure you have enough nutrition for the both of you. but seeing as though you're only 14
@AGPrincess7117 you may have sometime before you need to worry about that. Also I'm sure you'll have dietician support if/when that becomes an issue. Good luck. Please contact me again if you need to know anything else. xoxoxo
@Citroneneis Thank you so much for commenting. I guess I am mostly accepting of the situation, if not comfortable. I am doing my best to stay okay :) xoxox

@nudgek that it helps prevent tissue granulation, and keep the stoma nice and clear.
Please ask anything else if I can help....
