I like the way he writes with arpeggios. He makes great use of the diatonics, and extending them to include more. I don't know who taught him to play, but I've taught myself and have come up with similar ideas when writing.

I'm not saying anything bad about the dude because he is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen, but if you listen closely at 0:55 to about 1:10 you hear he has some delay and reverb which covers up some mistakes and blends notes to were your hearing more than he's actually playing, but he is still one of the greatest guitarists I've ever heard.
