This made feel sick when I was a kid. I could literally vomit, and was never able to watch the entire thing. Thank god there was enough japanese animation in my childhood, so that I could forget crap like this. And I'm no hater, that's really how I felt.
@laserdiscphan Dragonball Z was a lesson in mediocrity. There were much better japanese animations around, and the same is true for this one. I'm not even sure if it was worth it or not; it just made me feel bad every time.
@laserdiscphan DBZ is the wrong kind of anime. Don't get me wrong, I loved the violence and the storyline, but I HATED the way they drew their characters: the women looked like men, and the men were overly-muscular, and all the characters had big heads xD
I remember having a big stuffed Fievel I took to kindergarten with me, and I would hide cheese under his hat cause I thought I was smooth. This makes me wanna watch it again....
Fievel Goes West was so much better. This was a downer, it made me feel depressed as a kid and I had no desire to see it again. The sequel? Awesome. But I might be the only person with that opinion since a lot of ppl love it.
@PoohFanGirl1990 I dunno, I like them both a lot, but being a boy watching this, I didn't want to watch it because it made me cry . . . and no boy wants anyone else to see them cry at a movie!
@laserdiscphan haha completely understood, I was a little girl who hated to cry at stuff (though this movie didn't make me cry, it just made me very depressed and incredibly frustrated because he and his parents kept MISSING each other and that was stressful for my little kid mind).
Watching the entire series as a kid, I enjoyed the first three and to a lesser extent with Manhattan Monster. But now as an adult, I LOVE number 1, the Original, over the rest of them. Treasure of Manhattan IMO is a close second.
@PoohFanGirl1990 I don't know the problem, as a kid I watched this like 5 times a day and it never got broing. The second one, on the other hand, was unbelieveable bad in my mind.
@PoohFanGirl1990 One of the things I loved from this film was its depressing, dirty mood of the story and the settings. It made the whole thing more enjoyable and the ending when he reunites with his family more satisfying. Fievel Goes West was good too but in a whole different way. Personally I loved this film making me cry :P
This is one of those movies I never got to see until I was an adult. I saw the sequel Fievel Goes West as a kid though. Hard to believe this movie is almost 25 years old.

Just wondering, is this from the CLV or CAV pressing of the LaserDisc of An American Tail?
