Interesting story: I have an FTM friend, and everyday he has to deal with people who don't use his preferred name (Caleb) and who refer to him the female pronouns. It really sucks and kind of makes me mad that people who should be his friends don't even support him in that. I can totally understand that it's different and some people might be uncomfortable, but it's still gotta be pretty annoying. We were on facebook (goddamn it, it's always facebook...) and this guy was being an ass and (Cont.)
(cont.) basically told Caleb he was stupid. He also said "at least I know you have to have a penis to be a man."
Normally, I don't really like to get involved in fights, but that angered me to no extent. Being a man is NOT about what's on the outside. Hell, I have all the workings of a woman, but I'm more of a man than half of the little boys that I know. I wish I was in that class, Lucas. I bet your teacher would love me and my ideas about what it takes to be a man. ^^

Loved your vid. It made many good point. I just have a tip for you. If you decide to go bigger with you gauges be careful. 2's arnt that big but going from a 2 to a 0 is very big. If you dont put duck tape on your 2 gauges to slowly stretch your ear to a 0 it has a high chance of your ear lobe spliting. And them you would have to wait for them to heal. So I suggest that you dont go past a 2.

Wow, Twin, I'm so sorry that you felt that way with your family. It's a very uncomfortable feeling to be in that awkward position. But you know what? There will always ALWAYS be people who love you, support you, and accept you for who you really are. So no need to worry about it. I'm sure your family will come to understand fully eventually.

hi i been watching your videos for a while now since I saw ur cosplay ones, im still a bit confused on the whole thing, but i think it takes courage for what you did to become who you feel you are, sorry if im not saying this right its hard for me to say what i mean most of the time.
I think you've had a hard time the last couple of years, with your family and environment accepting your transformation, but I think you're really strong and you're dealing with it so well. And it's so sweet that your family and Nova's family are trying so hard so it will all be okay ^^ you deserve it, Lucas! Your parents will come along after a while as well, they're just the people who have known you the longest, so it's hard for them to adapt. But I'm glad you're doing so well!
Ya I know how you feel my parents I don't beleve there even trying to call me Mike at all and they do support me when we meet new people and my whole family is also trying to get use to me being trans but i'm happy the at lest my cousen because she has a trans friend she's use to it. The ears are looking cool :) Gotta say though too big and they usually creep me out nothing against people who do go big on stretching their ears though. Its just something that freaks me out a bit. xD Anyway I'm glad to hear your family is trying to adjust, that's a lot better than how some families react to a trans gendered person being in their family.

I think it's purely a physical reaction for me, because even though I find stretched ears unattractive in general, I don't really have anything against them as a concept. I just get dizzy looking at them. I guess it's my self-preservation instinct acting up? Like how most people would feel queasy watching surgeries and injuries and so on...

Although I don't know the exact situation with your family, I had issues with my parents for about two years before I was able to transition. My parents and I went through the counseling and preparing for my transition together. And I have to say the thing that helped the most was just talking to them.

Problem where his old friends kept referring to him with female pronouns in our conversations but I'd continually refer to him in male pronouns. Eventually in the conversation they would transition to male pronouns.

Your parents might not ever be OK with the fact that you are male. But they'll always love you. You can't change who you are. That's like trying to change a color to make it fit your own satisfaction, in a sense. Can't be done. Just be who you are, not what others want you to be. Nova's family is accepting, and that's good. Don't over worry, and just stay you.

The thing is that he was never a woman. He may have been physically a female at birth but everything else about him was a male. The real Twinfools on the inside didn't match what the world saw. So now, he is just changing the outside to match what he is on the inside. If you were really a male and everyone refered to you as she and her you wouldn't be a happy campter now would you?

dude i know how you feel christmas 2011 was my first time as toby to my reletives, they have totally rejected the fact that im trans and continue to call me by my birthname and female pronouns. ive had about 5 letters saying that they wont support me and all that. ive been passing well but people still slip up everyonce in a while. im turning 18 this year which means i can go to the gender clinic in london. yay! my friends are now my family and i will be changing my name officially this year.
Lucas, I cannont even imagin what you went through. I do understand how hurtful it must have been to have your own parents not accept you for who you are ment to be. Just know, you are to do whats best for you, if they do not accept you, then it is their lost becasue you are an amazing young man, and they will miss out. Well in one way Twin, I understand and stand up for your side, in another, I stand up for your parents too, because you see when a baby is born a certain gender, the parents picture their kids future a certain way, and now that you're turning into a guy, they suddenly have lost their daughter. So right now they're grieving for the lost of their little girl, but all the same they will still love(And better or I will come after them)and you're still their kid. You as their kid will stay the same.
I really hope that some day soon your family realizes that you have made your own lifestyle decision. This is who you are! You can be who/what you want, if anyone doesn't have your back then they shouldn't be lingered on. Eventually they will have to give in. I'm glad to have been here and watched you, and Nova's growth. I really do think that your parents are in denial. It probably isn't easy for them to know that their little girl is now a little man. Imagine having a child of your own, planning for their future, and all of the possibilities that they have, yet you could have never predicted this path they are currently on. They watched you grow into a beautiful woman, standing by your side for 20 odd years, then suddenly it seems to be stripped away by your own freedom to do what you want with your mind/body
I think that most parents are looking for that little child they had so long ago, even when their kids are adults. I think they want to be held by the hand just like they did before, and to be taken along the road with you.
I moved out not long ago, and I find that the less I phone my parents, the more worried they get, and the more confused they are about my decision. After talking with them more, they understand better, and we are on better terms.
It isn't quite the same as being trans, I know that, but I think that even though it is hard, just talking to them about it more often, might relieve some of the stress. I would also just try not worrying about the pronouns with your parents, atleast not untill they are a bit more comfortable.
I realize that I am not an expert and that you will probably think that this advice is out of my bounds, but all I am is concerned. Please forgive me if I have crossed the line. Not trying to cause a stir
I believe that with work, your family will eventually come around. That is my hope for you in this new year.

It doesn't matter what colour, reliogion, sexual orientation ect, you may be--be yourself. Some people won't understand or respect who you are, but who cares what they think? If your happy with the way you are--then so be it. You shouldn't have to be put in akward situations over who you are with family. If someone doesn't suport your choice--it doesn't matter. Only your opinion counts. Be who you want to be--not what other's want to see.

I think you've had a hard time the last couple of years, with your family and environment accepting your transformation, but I think you're really strong and you're dealing with it so well. And it's so sweet that your family and Nova's family are trying so hard so it will all be okay ^^ you deserve it, Lucas! Your parents will come along after a while as well, they're just the people who have known you the longest, so it's hard for them to adapt. But I'm glad you're doing so well!

The ears are looking cool :) Gotta say though too big and they usually creep me out nothing against people who do go big on stretching their ears though. Its just something that freaks me out a bit. xD Anyway I'm glad to hear your family is trying to adjust, that's a lot better than how some families react to a trans gendered person being in their family.

I think it's purely a physical reaction for me, because even though I find stretched ears unattractive in general, I don't really have anything against them as a concept. I just get dizzy looking at them. I guess it's my self-preservation instinct acting up? Like how most people would feel queasy watching surgeries and injuries and so on...

Although I don't know the exact situation with your family, I had issues with my parents for about two years before I was able to transition. My parents and I went through the counseling and preparing for my transition together. And I have to say the thing that helped the most was just talking to them.

Problem where his old friends kept referring to him with female pronouns in our conversations but I'd continually refer to him in male pronouns. Eventually in the conversation they would transition to male pronouns.

Your parents might not ever be OK with the fact that you are male. But they'll always love you. You can't change who you are. That's like trying to change a color to make it fit your own satisfaction, in a sense. Can't be done. Just be who you are, not what others want you to be. Nova's family is accepting, and that's good. Don't over worry, and just stay you.

The thing is that he was never a woman. He may have been physically a female at birth but everything else about him was a male. The real Twinfools on the inside didn't match what the world saw. dude i know how you feel christmas 2011 was my first time as toby to my reletives, they have totally rejected the fact that im trans and continue to call me by my birthname and female pronouns. ive had about 5 letters saying that they wont support me and all that. ive been passing well but people still slip up everyonce in a while. im turning 18 this year which means i can go to the gender clinic in london. yay! my friends are now my family and i will be changing my name officially this year.

Well in one way Twin, I understand and stand up for your side, in another, I stand up for your parents too, because you see when a baby is born a certain gender, the parents picture their kids future a certain way, and now that you're turning into a guy, they suddenly have lost their daughter. So right now they're grieving for the lost of their little girl, but all the same they will still love(And better or I will come after them)and you're still their kid. I really do think that your parents are in denial. It probably isn't easy for them to know that their little girl is now a little man. Imagine having a child of your own, planning for their future, and all of the possibilities that they have, yet you could have never predicted this path they are currently on. I think that most parents are looking for that little child they had so long ago, even when their kids are adults. I think they want to be held by the hand just like they did before, and to be taken along the road with you.
I moved out not long ago, and I find that the less I phone my parents, the more worried they get, and the more confused they are about my decision. After talking with them more, they understand better, and we are on better terms.

It isn't quite the same as being trans, I know that, but I think that even though it is hard, just talking to them about it more often, might relieve some of the stress. I would also just try not worrying about the pronouns with your parents, atleast not untill they are a bit more comfortable.
I realize that I am not an expert and that you will probably think that this advice is out of my bounds, but all I am is concerned. Please forgive me if I have crossed the line. Not trying to cause a stir

It doesn't matter what colour, reliogion, sexual orientation ect, you may be--be yourself. Some people won't understand or respect who you are, but who cares what they think? If your happy with the way you are--then so be it. You shouldn't have to be put in akward situations over who you are with family. If someone doesn't suport your choice--it doesn't matter.
