Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I had scheduled a trip to South Africa later this year, but life had other plans. I have to visit this beautiful country one day. Thank you for bringing it just a little closer to me until I can visit myself.
The Rock Hyrax or Cape Hyrax a.k.a. "Dassie". Like all hyraxes, it is a medium-sized (~4kg) terrestrial mammal, superficially resembling a guinea pig with short ears and tail. Hyraxes typically live in groups of 1080 animals, and forage as a group. Their most striking behaviour is the use of sentries: one or more animals take up position on a vantage point and issue alarm calls on the approach of predators.
What were those little furry things? Come to Boston to go whale watching! You take a boat for about 45 minutes from the harbor out to the North Atlantic...
I was so expecting that frisky squirrel thing to scratch your face LOL!
Plz do a blog entry or something on visiting south africa ... like what places are cheap to stay at, what to visit, what to stay away from etc. hidden gems etc.
Maybe you should write a book. Look up a book titled "1089 Nights" to get some ideas. (I'm a Writer for Hire by the way, but that's not why I'm suggesting it.)
And I guess you know by now that that animal is a "dassie".
That "squirrel thing" is called a "Dassie"; and no, they're not aggressive at all. In another video, I felt she was being foolish in going up so close to some Vervet monkeys--because they like to bite. And when they sense that a human is afraid of them, that emboldens them, and attacking a human lifts their status among other monkeys.
Super cool frm durban
